  • Shane's unique !

  • Every fucking vidoe its a debate where he's irish or not.. he's london irish. End of story. Great version, Shanes voice is so beautiful

  • This is just another thing that makes me wish I was irish! Long live the IRA!

  • as a prod a like this so any shit to do with religon suck it its history if not the truth get on and over it twats

  • @seaneyg1992 Probably? Certainly!

  • I'm sick of all the spastics that comment on Irish videos and I include huns, fenians and yanks in that. Most of you are as bad as each other. You act like it's still 1916. On another note, this is a ropey version.

  • people need to stop saying RIP shane cause he aint dead. a

however he has been quasi alive for 30 years

  • This is gorgeous. The birdsong in the background makes it more beautiful, but Shane, even toothless and plastered, is brilliant. He just is.

  • Ah Shay my man. It's good to hear your voice again.

  • RIP Shane

  • @cultstatus7 why??

  • @cultstatus7 hes not dead.

  • @GillyNotKingofPhilly Apparently sarcasm is

  • @cultstatus7 sure

  • I stept on board a double vision and then I came to wank her off?

  • Just because he was born in England doesnt mean hes English!

  • Great song, shame he sounds pissed.

  • @PaddyF96 he probably is pissed !

  • i hate rangers

  • Who's with Shane here?

  • @hanshotfirst1138 Cruchan

  • My favorite version of this song by far. When I listen to Irish music I expect a drinking feel and sound about it and this man clearly sounds drunk :).

  • this guy is finished with the world

  • Me and my twin brother used to jam all the time. Fucking many damn years ago now. We did all types of songs, but this was always a crowd favorite. Spancil Hill, a well written song.

  • Shane is Irish by blood, though he often speaks with a North London accent. He's spent a great deal of time in both regions, really. For the record, he was born in Kent, IIRC.

I only hope that what Victoria says about his drinking has merit; it'd be a sad day to lose Shane McGowan.

  • Er, double-check on the accent bit. I think I may have misremembered a source.

  • Outstanding. A living legend.

  • sorry Boxing but shane wasn't born in Ireland

  • @robbie8563 Yeah, both his parents were Irish though, and he was raised Irish.

  • first time i've heard this song and i really like it tbh, shane's a legand..

is there a woman singing with him in the background in some parts of this song?

  • she isn't the farmers daughter, she is Mac, the rangers daughter,it does a disservice to the song to change the words to appease republicans.

  • @BoxingMadLad: I'm feeling quite alright,pal!

  • listen

     this guy is a genius

  • @dastipe

beethoven was a genius this guy got god lytics and funny voice

  • This is like the christy Brown version

  • the best irish singer i ever heard

    greetings from austria

  • Shane is a genius and those not realising this lack of the ability of appreciating true music and talent!

  • There's no humor in this world! Please give me, who I adore Shane, more thumbs down!

  • at first i didn't notice what version i clicked on and was really enjoying Shane singing until i heard the drums and guitars. Shame, it was beautiful up until. At least 85 - 90% of the song or so was great

  • Laft night af I lay dreaming of pleafant dayf gone by...

What a graet version of Fpanfil Hill.

  • @westfalianalien What the fuck is wrong with you?

  • @BoxingMadLad cocaine is a wonderful drug

  • @ThePGeraFuckingSucks lol good name it doz

  • I didn't like this version at first(preferring the duo with christy moore)but now I love it. The lyrics are different and definitely convey a more haunting feel.

  • Haunting...unexpected, but brilliant metal with Cruachan...perfection from Shane...kendalandy captures it...God knew what he was doing when He gave us a great gift with Shane MacGowan.

  • This is awesome and Shane sings all of the written lyrics.

  • I think God "stepped on board a vision and followed with the wind" when he created Shane McGowan. A genius who has never been bettered, and never will. Born on Christmas day, God knew what he was doing.

  • First 4 minutes, yes.

    After that, no.

  • No pints of Guiness or slugs of Lagavulin, this is drunkennes ultimate! Leave the rock end out!!!!

  • I stept on board a double vision

  • macgowan is good but whos fuckin idea was it to turn spancill hill into a rock song??? jesus christ

  • ????

  • john kennys reggae version is class...ha

  • Jesus, shane is the best. This is my new favorite version of this song !

  • just amazing!!

  • artifice can be more true than truthh

  • i love shane more than anyone, but i would rather him and christy singin this or don stiffe or the dubliners

  • you are amazing !!!! you are my better singer !! i love your voice !!

  • Magnifique!

    Merci!

  • i loveeeeee youuuuuuuuuuuuuu SHANE

  • On which Cd can I find this Version?

    Can someone help me?

    Thanks a lot

  • Cruachan -> Folk-Lore (2002)

  • ok there is IRA in your name so i assume your irish(like myself) so how the fuck can you not like this?!?!? are ya fuckin deaf and stupid? Shane is one of the greatest things to come out of ireland. For fucks sake.

  • @BoxingMadLad

shane ma's came from ireland , shane lived in oxford , this a good song , and dont make asumptions that all irish are ira , most irish are embaressed to be associated with the pira , rira , and all on here are joker followers......

  • Actually shane was born in oxford, but grew up in tipperary, where both his parents where from and where he now lives most of the time. He has lived in england about half his life but is a lifelong irish citizen.

However this song is hardly him at his best.

  • spot on !!!

  • @BoxingMadLad

Just because IRA is in someone's name doesn't mean they're Irish. Ever been to Boston, Massachusetts, USA? The northeast USA is/was a hotbed of IRA sympathizers.

  • @BoxingMadLad Actually Shane was born in England.

  • @PaddyFlavell96 Born in England yes, but if you have his autobiography like me you would know how much he despised England. He was so happy in Ireland until he moved to "London"? and he endlessly mentioned in the book how much he hated it and longed to go back to Ireland.

  • Comment removed

  • @BoxingMadLad its cuz hes a provo a real sticky knows his music so yea he is fuckin stupid ...and deaf

  • @BoxingMadLad Shane is brilliant, and he is 100% Irish (unlike my 12 1/2 %, LOL!) but he is from Bromley, Kent, a suburb of London, although both his parents came from Ireland.

  • cool music for getting drunk

    and cool pic...too

  • class song shano

  • Nice one Stephan, Shane forever

  • I got to see him and the Pogues last year in Seattle and feel unbelievably privileged. He is truly one of Irelands finest sons. Slainte Shane!

  • Brillant Combi Shane ! lovely and sweet .. Cheers my companion.

  • I stept on board a double vision!

  • hahahah good one!!!!!!

  • Only in heaven will you hear the likes of this. Brilliant!

  • No. Not MUCH better.

  • does music get any better than this?

  • no i don't think that it can

  • shane mcgowan what a legend

  • @closecombat3 For me he's still alive. But it's truth, he is legend, I think he will never be forgotten.

  • @aleksandra14 Aaaaahhh you seem to be talking about him as if he's dead.. He isn't!!! For everyone he's still alive because he is literally.

  • @closecombat3 Noo! I mean... In my opinion you seemed to be talking about him as if he's dead, because you said he is legend. You know, like you would have said: "He was awesome, but he WAS, now he is legend". But maybe I took it too literally.

  • @aleksandra14 In Ireland when you say someone is a legend it doesn't necessarily mean they are dead... But you were talking about him as if he was dead with you're "for me he's still alive".

  • @closecombat3 Ok, maybe you're right, I don't know how it looks in Ireland. But when I said: "For me he's still alive", I mean... His the best years passed, he isn't as good known as years ago, there are so many new people who sing and some people just forgot about Shane. But for me he's still alive, for me he didn't gone from music and still is one of the bests musicans.

  • @closecombat3 as an irishman.... i want this played at my funeral...so everyones says " oh what a lovely version of spancil hill "

DUN DUN, DUN DUN, DUN DUNN DUN DUN ahahahah

  • what album is this off of i have all the albums pogues and popes was it a popes single

  • its a band called Cruachan

  • the one with christy on the late late is much better imo

  • great job so many great irish singers have done this famous spancill hill i think he does it the best

  • The guy yelling yoyoyo at the end of the Shane and Christy set screws it all up

  • That's Gay Byrne. Twit

  • I couldn't give two shits if it was Brendan Behan, JFK, or the Pope himself the audio is still messed from his addition. That aside it may be the best live duet ever
