Not only that, but now it's only catching in the 1x door frame which can be easily broken when kicked in. When all the way extended it should actually go through the door frame and into 2x wall framing. Also check the screws on the locking plate, the screws should also go through the door frame into the wall studs on all exterior doors, both plates knob and dead-bolt.

It's amazing how just a few centimeters are the difference between securely locked and completely accessible. What seems like a small error is suddenly quantified in to a potential home invasion.

Its not even a few centimeters, its a few millimeters. The point at which a deadbolt fully locks in place and can be pushed back is really small.
