it is a composite of 3 stills.

oh... 1 more thing... how did you record yourself drawing? did you stick the camera on the ceiling or something?

just a tripod over the shoulder. A time lapse capable camera hooked up to a computer to store the pictures and this one it took a picture every 45 seconds. Which is then shown at 24 pics a second.

I'm pretty good at drawing random stuff (like still life) but not people, can anyone give a good tip to put to practice?....please?....lol

make sure everything lines up (one eye is not too low.. the lips, bottom of nose line up with the eyes. If the eyes are at a certain angle everything else should as well.

But when I see a drawing that is not done well of a face (even my own) that is usually the culprit.

When doing a still life you have more freedom but a face (especially a recognizable one) needs to be accurate.

So the main "key" (I guess) to make it look like the person your drawing is to keep everything lined up and in proportion. I think I'm not having much luck drawing portraits because I try to hard to make the,let's say the nose,look good and it's being "untrue" to the actual model.

No thoughts! Let my hands and eye do all the work while I listen to an audio book. And do not change what you see (even if that shadow looks funky or their nose seems off a bit (My Indiana Jones and Ford's crooked nose must stay that way)
