You know, seeing this wonderful presentation brings so much back to me...I was 6 when Apollo 11 happened. I remember it being such a happy thing to hear...and it filled my child's mind with disbelief that someone actually did it.

But we had national security interests for being there, JFK had intel that the Soviets planned a moon landing, and he set things in motion to make it happen...and it did.

I still recall the paper cutout "lunar module" you could get at Gulf gas stations!
