Just an excellent live act. Sorry to see them break up after all these years, though it appears to be amicable, just one of those things where they all thought it had run its course I guess.

@nueve08 it's a reference to REM first appearance on Letterman (alas REM's first ever television appearance) back when Stipe was camera shy. He recreated the whole thing here. Look Up REM on Letterman So Central Rain. Buck does most of the talking, Stipe comes out of nowhere when the song starts. Watch it you'll see what I mean. This video would make sense as well then.
