First of all, that's not even a 50HP shot of Nitrous Oxide. That's nothing, when I was a kid, I watched my dad & a bunch of his friends at New England Dragway run a 135-Shot in a 1979 Camaro Z28 they raced on this 1 weekend (& that car didn't even blow up, it's still in his friend's garage, I saw it 3 weekends ago...) & Second, Nitrous Oxide itself didn't cause that explosion, N2O doesn't burn itself, look at the Hazard Labels on an N2O tank...it's an Oxidizer, it Supports & Enhances Burning...

Haha peace out VTEC! I knew a dude that had a Classic Datsun Z-car and he ran a 300 shot on it(obviously he ran more fuel because only a dumbass puts nitrous on a car and doesn't use more fuel). Here's the catch: it had stock internals. He ran it for a few hours before the engine let loose. Keep in mind; the Nissan L-Series engines have forged steel crank and rods from the factory with cast aluminum pistons. Maybe VTEC should've used more fuel......

In a honda application high rpm is good for nitrous, low rpm is where you'll have problems. Essentially lugging the engine while also on nitrous. very mad for internal bearings to have high load at low rpm.

If you look carefully the explosion is not coming from the top of the engine so no piston is going "through the head". Most likely he bent a valve and the combustion stroke occurred while the intake valve was stuck open a little. Hence, the explosion coming our of the intake plumbing. And nitrous oxide is an oxidizer which allows you to add more fuel and create more power. (not used to increase compression)
