  • Lucky for me I have the old green machine ... Laplander in my pack . And NOT MADE IN CHina (Sweden) why do those swedes make suck good stuff?

  • @Beachcrib Yeah the Laplander is a great saw, certainly my favourite

  • try a decent Silky or Baek Ma ! id recomend a ARS saw as good valve and as an ideal bushcraft saw i carry a little 210dx i like to trav light!

  • @stm280480 Perhaps in the future, at present I have more than enough saws

  • hi Collin great job ! been looking through loads of your vids ! id have thought the sandvick 396xp would have done as well if not better than the bacho laplander as its the same saw butwithout the high friction coated blade! maybe its just yours is old! have used a laplander and was not impressed ! im an arborist and i have used loads of saws and sorry id not spend my money on any of them bar the cheap throw away b&q one as a throw away one to abuse

  • @stm280480 Hi mate, thanks for watching, personally I really like the Laplander, used nothing better

  • Just wanted to say thanks for recommending the Laplander - got one for 12 quid off amazon and it is better than lots of carpentry saws - just cut up a rotten shed with it, lol. Great on logs too.

  • @rayakins Hi Ray, congrats on the Laplander, great price too, Amazon have great deals sometimes.

  • Great vid, I have to also recommend a Silky. A landscaper I know who has worked in many environments throughout the world swears by them.

  • @Commentboy5000 Thanks my friend, yeah I have heard alot of good things about the Silky Saw

  • Good job Colin! I have the Bacho Laplander and I love it.

  • @dsandersmd Thanks my friend, nice one, I agree its a great saw

  • nice one,colin

  • @bricardiff1969 Cheers mate :-)

  • Colin can you write out the names of the saws? Sorry but I'm tired from working a hard shift all day(12 hours on concrete floors) So I had a bit of trouble making out all you said. Sorry. Good vid though thanks for the reviews

  • @hoosierarcher Sure thing my friend the saws are as follows. Bahco Laplander, Yeoman Turbo, no name supermarket brand, Fiskars, Sandvik and B&Q saw. Hope this helps :-) take care my friend

  • @hoosierarcher All you need to know is Bahco Laplander hah :D

Great vid Colin, as usual. When you want things you can trust on a trip, it makes it easier when there are vids like this out there!

  • Great test, interesting outcomes. I might actually be swayed to have a look round when I next go to the supermarket after your findings for that and see what they've got.

Thanks a lot Colin and "friend" I really enjoy watching your videos!!

  • @Slash28ACR Thanks my friend, as always I really appreciate your support Slash, hope you find a great saw, take care my friend.

  • @nathshoots Thanks my friend, I really appreciate your kind words.

  • haha! great tests! i did have a feeling that the laplander would come out on top! i have been thinking about getting one for a while and now you have convinced me!

    nick

  • @n1ck3o7 Thanks Nick, hope you get one, its a great saw

  • Hi Colin, That was a good test!!! Agree on Laplander and the cheap supermarket one being the best, if you really have to go small this a good choice! Stil a bucksaw is much more rendable. Have a nice weekend!

    Groetjes

  • @patje0109 Thank you my friend, I always appreciate your support, have a great weekend too :-)

  • @ColinOutdoors Colin, at 0:06 I can see your daypack, it seems big enough to put a foldable bucksaw in it,

I have about the same backpack (Deuter futura 28 xl) Then your woodsupply will grow fast!!!

    Love your vid's

  • @patje0109 Cheers my friend, yeah a buck saw would be nice :-)

  • Most excellent testing and conclusion Colin that Laplander does the job...that was a lot of work...thanks for the effort.

  • @bushcraftbartons Thank you so much Mike, I always appreciate your support my friend.

  • Hey Colin where do you find replacement blades for the laplander?

  • @truecallin Hi mate, you can find them on Ray Mears site, they seem to be the cheapest

  • hey colin, good vid, appreciate all your hard work! What was the name of the last one, the #1? I got alot of my bushcraft gear together so far, but missing a good saw!!

  • @Fluentmotion Hey mate its the Bahco Laplander, thanks for your support :-)

  • thank you for taking the time to give us this comparison. Cheers

  • @gwynn1975 Thank you very much Trevor, I really appreciate your support my friend.

  • mate have you tried the silky boy ones yet, i love my bacho, i also bought mine for 13 quid which is amazing for the quality, but the silky ones are in a different league.

  • @lucklee1 Not tried the Silky ones but I would like to in the future, heard alot of good feedback on them.

  • Thanks for doing all the work evaluating all the saws. Definitly a must have piece of Bushcrafting kit. Been using a Gerber saw the last few years and am pleased with it.

  • @spence0324 Thanks my friend, I really appreciate your support.

  • Just an FYI, Fiskars sells under the Gerber brand name here in the US. I was told that Bahco, Fiskas, and Gerber saws all take the same exact blade, so if you ever needed to replace one, all will work. Let me know if you hear different.

  • @dealtoyo Thanks for the info my friend, I will do some research

  • I agree too. The Bahco Lapplander is definitely the #1 bushcraft saw, i trade mine, a brandnew one, against a nib 91 mm Victorinox.

Kind regards from your german friend!

  • @Torro1969 Thank you m y friend, very nice trade my friend, I love Victorinox

  • Nice series. I own a Bahco Laplander for a year and I can say it is an amazing saw. They say it can cut bone too.

  • @calatorul78 Thanks my friend, great saw the Laplander :-)

  • Great series, glad the bahco won..i would have luved to see an opinel saw in the mix to see how that faired

  • @CobblersThumb Thanks my friend, Yeah I would like to try an Opinel saw one day

  • Hi Colin, a very good idea with the Temporary Wood Store! Thanks for showing. Have a great weekend and thanks for your work Sepp

  • @Waldhandwerk Thank you so much Sepp, have a great weekend too my friend

  • other than the laplander the supermarket one and cut quickest and i know why ha ha because it has aposing teeth that means it cuts both on pull and push and laplander im thinking would have same

  • @adamanime2 Thanks my friend, I appreciate you watching

  • Was an interesting series, the comparison was useful intel. We all saw how the old one didn't fare so well and I was quite surprised to see the laplander outperform the friskars.

  • @LeonRFpoa Cheers Leon, to be fair the Fiskars had taken a beating in its previous life I think, still a very good saw.

  • Good series Colin. Well done! Have you tried a take down buck saw?

    Nate

  • @CdnLifeguard71 Thanks Nate, haven't tried one of them yet but my friend has made one so looking forward to trying that out.

  • top vids Col and crew, great info on your thoughts on a quailty saw, i always take your advice when im looking at gear, best wishes and stay safe my freind.

  • @TheDishD Thank you so much Dishy, glad I got out and done this yesterday because the snow is back now :-)

  • Hey Col, i was just making sure, if you think that your views are going down, dont worry, bcause ur hardcore fans are still watching, and we all anticipate your next video!

  • @deathknight6752 Cheers my friend, I really do appreciate your support :-)

  • Great info, Colin.

  • @snaponjohn100 Thank you John

  • Of course, i buy a folding saw two days before you post this. although it wasn't one of the saws you reviewed. I picked up a Fiskars 10" saw with wood handle.

  • @freedoomed Lol, good choice my friend, I hope the Fiskars works well for you :-)

  • Knew it'd be the bahco chisels and other tools are top class

  • @county582 Nice one my friend, yeah Bahco is a great company

  • great video, very informative

  • @frozendusk11 Thank you so much my friend

  • Great series. I really want a bushcraft saw now. Even though my amazing Japanese one is nice, it is just too big to carry around with no sheath.

  • @SNAFU111999 Thanks my friend, hope you get a nice folding saw, they are very useful

  • Oh great, the conclusions are here already! didnt see that while watching the other videos..

I always thought the fiskar comes second only to the japanese saws from comments, posts and reviews i read.. thanks for the tip, i found a nice set with a laplander saw and a mora knife on ebay, i think i will order it. you cant have enough saws and knives anyway ;)

Thanks for reviewing and posting! so long

  • @Chrisko1977 Thanks my friend, that sounds like a winning combination, hope you get the Laplander and Mora :-)

  • I always wanted to get a laplander and now i really want one.

  • @americanpatriot95 Nice one my friend, its a great saw

  • Thanks for the comparison of the different saws. That was very informative. Maybe next time you can try one of the chain saws like I have in my video to see how it compares with the other saws. I know my chain saw takes up less room than any of the other saws you had there. Keep up the good work. Take Care :-))

  • @SurviveN2 Thanks my friend, I would love to try a pocket chainsaw someday

  • great vid colin, i would also recommend if you ever have the opportunity to purchase a sawvivor go for it you won't regret it. It doesn't take up much more room in a backpack than the laplander and at a little more than 10 ozs. it packs a punch. I call mine a portable chainsaw(lol)!

  • @1978graham Cheers my friend, Yeah the Sawvivor looks like a great packable buck saw, would love to try one someday

  • Great summary for the different saws used in the comparisons. Thanks for sharing and posting.

  • @firearms1894 Thanks my friend
