  • ""Santa Baby" by Marilyn Monroe sound-alike Cynthia Basinet is the best version since the song was introduced by Eartha Kitt." (My top Christmas songs, kind of - WCFcourier)

  • She's talented, but damn she's way too thin. She looks like if a breeze blew through, she'd snap in half.

  • @FlameGirl7271 Happy Holidays! Thanks for your observation. In fact, it took the safety and food in a North African refugee camp for my son and I to finally begin to gain weight away from the stresses of Hollywood. And when I did sing to the Saharwian refugees in the camps, a strong wind did come. But, it didn't blow me away, instead joined all voices. But am always wondering when women here will join all voices? And support each other? ~Cynthia Latest release "The Christmas Song" -iTunes

  • Gotta love luscious lipped redheads. WOOHOO!

  • This sounds uncannily like someone called Marilyn MOON which is on Itunes. But the earliest version of Santa Baby I am aware of is Eartha Kitt. Its possible Marilyn Monroe covered it - but I can't find it!

  • @jenferan1958 Yes, thank you. That would be the illegal version of my little ol' "Santa Baby". Visit iTunes to download your version now

  • Nice and sweet, like it should be!

  • Id say its the best version Ive heard ...who ever did it first or WHATEVER

  • I'm blown away cuz I really love that song & all this time I thought it was Marilyn PLEASE TELL ITS NOT TRUE!!!!

  • I can't find any proof that Marilyn Monroe ever recorded this song

  • i know marilyn didnt do it, but this ..um.. Person didnt either.

  • Original was recorded in 1953 by Eartha Kitt (Crazy lady who tried to band Eddie Murphy in Boomerang) I never knew Marilyn sang it tho. I'll check it out. Madonna also covered.

  • marilyn monroe did do santa baby too people need to learn to do there research before they post stupid shit like this.

  • @MrWushu70

    WTD Records:

Thank you for your "stupid shit". We are very well aware of what songs our artist recorded. Thank you. And of course, Marilyn never did "Santa Baby".

Maybe your own advice followed would be best?

  • @dreamsville2 Hehe, We know who really sang this song, and it wasn't Marilyn. ;-)

  • @dreamsville2

Maralyn monroe did do santa baby, my dad has it on his computer AND ive herd it a billion times and it is betta than this woman or eartha

  • @sterlingisdabest1 "50 things you probably didn't know about Marilyn Monroe" (From The Mirror UK) Read more: #24) Santa Baby, commonly believed to have been sung by her, was actually recorded by Cynthia Basinet as a Christmas gift for Jack Nicholson.

  • @MrWushu70

Mr. Mush Brain ...100 bucks says you cant find it ..anywhere

  • Santa baby is originally recorded in1953 by Eartha Kitt. Why so many people think this has to do with Marilyn Monroe is simple. Hear the song and it's style. It could have been sung by MM. She has a few other songs in that way. But it's true: she never did sing it.

If you have it on a CD look at the label. Probably a small unknown label and sung by a MM look-a-like.

  • I love this version. Definitely my favorite!

  • Cynthia does the "BEST" version of this song! Credit where credit is due.

  • Well, Cynthia may not have been the first to record this song, but, as far as I'm concerned, she definitely did "the best" version of it. I can see how Cynthia's sexy voice might have made folks want to think this was Marilyn, but come on guys, don't you think Cynthia is cuter anyway? ;-)

  • this song was written in 1953, but never covered by Mailyn, so now lets just enjoy this verion and this holiday season

  • best version of this song, she is really great!!!

  • um....i do believe marilyn died a long time before 1997...and the version of marily sounds nothing like this...i do believe you have your facts wrong

  • Yes, exactly. So she could not have recorded it.

Visit iTunes for more of Cynthia.

    "Hurry, down the chimney tonite..."

  • @dreamsville2 How could it be long before Marilyn did if it's 1997?

  • @kncool1985 - Yeah its actually not Marilyn, you can find that info online anywhere. It is a 'legend' really that marilyn sang this. However your right she was dead long before 97, you wont find the 'marilyn monroe' version before 97 because the version going around as marilyn is cynthia. Marilyn never recorded this song ever, you can find it on wikipedia as well.

  • 1997? Marilyn Monroe would have recorded it a long time before 1997. This does not sound anything like the recording I have and a friend of mine bought me a c.d of marilyn with this song on it. I don't see how this coud be mistaken as Marilyn. This girl does have a beautiful voice but Marilyn's is unmistakable to me atleast.

  • this is not an original recording...eartha kitt did it originally back in the 60's, she has a very sultry voice, which is why people mistake it for marilyn.

  • Cynthia does a wonderful job on this tune!

  • When many think it is MM,

then that can only be a compliment!

indeed, it is particularly well sung by Cynthia Basinet ...!

    - Thank you for share this!

  • I also know that Marilyn sang it first...

  • love it

  • If Marilyn Monroe never sang "Santa baby", How come so many people think she did?

  • good question!

    its like a myth!

  • cause that song just sounds like it was ment for her, you know?

  • the same reason why many people think the ronettes were 3 white girls.

  • people love to make affirmation without knowing the facts.

Honestly I can't understant how someone can think this is Marilyn. Yes, the voice ressembles a bit to hers, but just a little

  • I agree. It sounds *maybe* like her in the very beginning, but then it doesn't at all.

  • WOW!

This is a great rendition of the song.

    Nice smooth voice, love it.

I would rate it second to Earth Kitts version.

  • by the way, just someone who does not know Marilyns voice could think that she sang this song......This Version is really goooood but Eartha is the real cat.

  • WOW! If Marlyn didnt sing his song, then Miss Basinet did it so well she sounded like Marlyn. I wonder if she sings songs of Marlyn Monroe. She must sound great. I know for sure that Eartha Kitt was the original of this song. Basinet made justice to this song. Eartha was really great too.

  • much better when Eartha Kitt sings that song !!!

  • not really. they're two completely different sounds... Eartha's version, in my opinion, sounds nerdy and annoying. But... if that's what you like more power to ya

  • Hot! Beautiful!! Perfect!!! My second favorite version of this song. Ms. Basinet is breathtaking!!!!

  • she does sound beautiful. but eartha kitt has that cat-like unique yummy sound. may she rest in peace. truly gifted and before her time back in the day

  • Thanks for the video response!:)

  • two completely different voices.

  • Eartha Kitt was the original who sang this song, not Cynthia Basine. Or do you mean it was Cynthia Basine's voice that was dubbed onto Marilyn Monroe singing it?

  • Marilyn Monroe has NEVER sung this song. This version was recorded by Cynthia Basinet and when it started to get downloaded through sharing programs it was mislabeled and so now everyone thinks it was Monroe

  • actually i have a marilyn monroe CD and her version of santa baby IS on it.

  • Yes I had one as well. My best friend gave it to me. It got lost in the move (moved from south to north) dangit and now I am unable to find another. Rare c.d. I had bought her a Judy Garland c.d. that year as well. Both rare c.d.'s. I was told that Santa Baby was written for Marilyn as well.

  • Very funny story. Just to clarify "Santa Baby" has nothing to do with Marilyn. She never recorded it. It was never intended for her. Instead it was popularized by Eartha Kitt. Copies with Marilyn Monroe are illegal copies that have been mislabeled.

Visit iTunes for more of Cynthia.

    "Hurry, down the chimney tonite..."

  • @ohsosolarpowered Do you know where i could find marilyn monroe's version. The one on youtube was removed... i always found her version to be the best;)

  • @ywerzt Marilyn version is the Cynthia Basinet, thus this is the one you are looking for:

""Santa Baby" by Marilyn Monroe sound-alike Cynthia Basinet is the best version since the song was introduced by Eartha Kitt almost fifty years ago."

    Read More: wcfcourierdotcom

  • @ohsosolarpowered well can you put it on your youtube and help the rest of us out that are trying to find it? :D pleaseeee?

  • yes, ohsosolarpowered it's because there is no MARILYN MONROE. It's CYNTHIA BASINET. If Marilyn would have sung it BELIEVE me it would be everywhere for sale. The copy you are referrencing is an illegal download in which the artist was never paid.

  • She actually sounds nothing like Marilyn Monroe, just as Ertha Kitt sounds nothing like Monroe. Where did the myth of a Marilyn version start? I've never heard the song attributed to her. *shrug*

  • This is the story of this "Santa Baby"... there is no need to compare voices or the added negative...

it is due to illegal file sharing since 2000. Am sure as a fellow artist, you can imagine what it feels like to have music you recorded, financed, and distributed attributed to someone else...

even if you, mezzosoprano97 have never heard such.

    The problem remains nonetheless.

    WTD RECORDS

  • because its such a sexy song, people want to attribute it to the sexiest woman of the time.

  • no..people are just idiots.

  • Actually I believe it was originally done by Eartha Kitt.

  • i think it was eartha kitt aswell

  • Yeaaa ummm whoever this person is, she sings it, but it was originally Marilyn Monroe. I'm sorry that you guys are jealous of Marilyn Monroe and try to take things away from her but you need to realize.......It was and will always be Marilyn Monroe.

  • Marilyn NEVER sang "Santa Baby". Perhaps, you are referring to the original, Eartha Kitt.

  • Marilyn Monroe never song it though, I honestly don't understand why everybody thinks she did. But anyway, Cynthia has a lovely smooth voice. =) She sings it best, and heck, you can't beat an original.

  • Well, compared to Ashley or Nicole, she rocks. And not compared, she still ROCKS. It's sultry and sexy, without all the breathiness or high-pitched yap of Kylie. And yeah, Eartha is good. But, and I say this as a kitt-fan --Santa baby is not eartha's best song, it really does nothing for that voice she has (awesome though anyway)

  • yea she does suck compared to Marilyn Monroe

  • the great thing about youtube is no matter what you smoke, you can still write stupid things.

there is NO marilyn version. this is the version oft thought to be marilyn, which was never the intent of the singer.

  • I love Eartha Kitt's version, but you can't beat an original.

  • wait...does she play Victoria in Twilight?

  • No, Rochelle Lafevre plays Victoria

  • They do look a bit similar, though.

  • Lol, if Google or Wikipedia can't answer your questions, YouTube can!

Been trying to find out who sang this lovely version for ages now.

  • Eartha Kitt did this way before this person. Great song though!

  • i luv this song

  • Cynthia, i am very curious as to what voice type you are. Is it a contralto?

  • lol xD

  • holy manoly!! you're right. I have this exact recording in my iTunes and it says it's played by marilin monroe. after such a long, who would've knon.

    thanks for sharing!

  • its cool

  • when was this made??

  • The vid, 2003. The original recording release, 1997.

  • The one and only! Cynthia Basinet´s version is my favorite!

  • THATS NOT THE BEST, check marilyn monroe or eartha kitt their versions are better.

  • Marilyn never sang it. This is the version credited to Marilyn...

  • She is great! I luv her voice!

  • I like the way she does the "fill my stocking with a duplex and cheques".. tres cool.

  • I LOVE IT!! Beautiful voice!

  • This is contrary to most covers of classics... it's actually great! She does Eartha Kitt's original proud. ^5!

  • Thank you so much! :-)

  • Im so glad that when she sang this she didnt ruin it like every other remake

  • Go C! Your favourite time of the year is almost here! Love u...

  • classic . . . happy holidays! (soon)
