  • Easily the best version

  • omg how old is this video? :D

  • Um... It's pretty sick when you walk into your class and catch your teacher watching this. I got new respect.

  • The audience took it personally

  • They seem sad..

  • The refined version's binary solo translates into 8q. I lol'd.

  • Bill Bailey is a legend !!

  • well they are a lot better now

  • Upright and all!

  • I like it. They hadn't refined their act yet.

  • whats dead is that audience... xD

  • OMG! THAT'S CHRIS WARNER :L

  • From the Comedy Gala, shown on TV in New Zealand back in 2003. The guys only performed this one song. I uploaded this clip way back then and its been knocking around since.

  • i like version

  • This audience was lousy!!!

  • Their songs evolve so much.

  • Jemaine is so adorable at the beginning when he messes up...

  • Comment removed

  • Eh, it's not as good. I believe that if they played their polished up one here, the crowd would be more receptive.

Cause honestly, this isn't that funny compared to the other one.

  • OMG, Jemaine without glasses!

  • Tough crowd.

  • no more yogurt!

  • This was the first time I ever saw the Conchords, when this was originally on TV back in 2002 or something. Thought the song was quirky, and quite funny, and then they unleashed the 'binary solo', and I almost pissed myself laughing. Have followed what they were doing ever since...

  • that guy a 3:58 and other times looks like josh homme

  • Bill Bailey!"

  • This isn't quite as polished. Must be when they first performed the song.

  • That crowd is like my nightmare xD

  • If robots ever did really take over the world I think they would keep the Flight of the Concords alive just to hear them sing this song every day.

  • fun how they almost didnt laugh

  • Tough crowd...

  • I LOVE BILL BAILY XD

  • He always said Affirmative, I poked one, it was dead in the original HBO TV show.

  • hay im nz and its the humans are dead

  • The HBO live version is the best one ever.... So much more refined and with emotion, once again.

  • They look so different, lol

  • i can't believe they took out the 'stairs' joke in the latest version!

  • @Wiilovewii

i know and now he says "Affirmative, i poked one, it was dead" instead of "I poked one in the head"

    I prefered the original line.

  • This is the best version imo! I watched all of the others and this feels the best one..though the sound quality is low!

  • This isn't really that good, well it's good but just not ad good as other versions.... And I am led to believe that the version that was played on the show is called "robots" while the live version is called "humans are dead" I'm not sure why tho

  • @1Skwak1

The song is called "Robots".. Or so it says on every album.. even the live version is called "Robots (Live)"

  • ohhhh well every live version i have seen is titled humans are dead.... but your proly right

  • @1Skwak1

I have seen it around youtube as "Humans are dead" but on the albums its "Robots".

It would make more sense if it was called "Humans are dead".

  • @1Skwak1

Hmmm Wikipedia says this though " "Robots"[1] (also known as "Humans Are Dead"[2]) is sung by both Bret and Jermaine. It is set in a post-apocalyptic "distant future" (the year 2000) where all humans are dead and robots have taken over the world"

So I guess it is both. Maybe its known also as humans are dead so that people know can search for the song. If you heard it you would guess the name to be "The humans are dead".

  • That version sucks

    The futurre now have elephants...

  • I like this version.

  • Jemaine wif out his glasses looks diffrent big time

  • oooh its Bill Bailey

  • No retard it's The Humans are Dead.

  • very good as I expected, but they left out "come on sucker lick my battery"

  • Everyone says the new ones better. Link to the new one?

  • @Garret361 new one's crap!

  • were was this?

  • This was at the NZ comedy Gala in 04 or 05 i think. It was awesome. I like this version rather than the new ones they sound more robotic.

  • the version from the series is different, but this still makes me grin .) their motherboardfucking system! binary solo! the humans are deadeadeadeadeadeadooo *klik*

    geniuses.

  • they've clearly honed their act and it's much more polished now I wonder how long they've been on the comedy circuit

  • i like bret with his beard.

  • I love flight of the conchords, but this version sucked lol

  • this sucks compared to the new version

  • this is great

  • lol Jemaine at 3:39 "Yay dead dead dead".

  • They look so young! It's strange

  • yeah!!!! it's weird!!

  • yeah, i prefer the newer one, its so much funnier and its a better speed and it's all sharper, and they have better banter now! :) this one's just TOO robotic!

  • chris warner u bastard

  • and the robot boogie???????

  • Best version of the song.

  • new version is funnier I think, the punch lines are more obvious, and funnier.

  • oh my god they look so little there! lol at the beggining , Bret's really comfortable on stage and Jemaine's really nervous but then he makes everyone laugh with 'They'll probably die'. so cute!

  • 000000100000011000011111

  • they look very nervous but in 2005 they must have just started right?

  • No they had been doing small shows for years before then. Are you sure this show was made in 2005? It looks like this is older, but that joeswaydizzle just uploaded it then?

  • i suppose i would go find out but wikipedia lies its ass off :P

  • They started in 2000

  • Thankss:D

  • No problem i think it was even earlier like the tlate 90s, they have been going a while though.

  • In the distant future.

  • They arn't very into it, the best version is on the album.

  • they look really different

  • the other concert was way much better

  • Agreed - I sensed more feeling in the other concert that used this song =\

  • FRIGHT OF THE CONCORDS!

  • 3:15 is like... groovy. :D

  • Jemaine without glasses! hehe

  • love this song sooo much

  • its a funnier song now becuz it just is i dunno they do it wit more feeling

  • He said "flight"

  • He said flight, and it's Bill Bailey you fucking knee.

  • Those harmonies are really clever :)

  • This version of the song isn't as good as the other lyrics, they dont even say "come on sucker lick my battery".

  • WOW!!!! FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS introduced by BILL BAILEY!!!!

    Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!

  • seconded

  • the other version they have the JizzyMcjizz uplaoded is so much better. They Improved it sooo much

  • he rules on the fucking robo voice

  • Ahaha, little Flight of the Conchords AND Bill Bailey in the same clip. Tis wonderful.

  • My favorite FOTC song.

  • Nice! I liked this one.

The improv at the beginning was a giggle.

Flight of the Conchords make me happy!

Every1 reading this, enjoy watching FotC vids =D

  • they look sooo young here

  • I love there TV show!!

  • murray rules

  • really undeveloped version of the song

  • yay manny!!!

  • they look so young!!

when it zooms in on jemaine he looks about 12! :O

  • Yep. They obviously improved the song alot too since this version. They are awsome

  • lol there proformance now is so much better than before, they seem rather dead in this act

  • It needs more DG-20!

  • holy shit bret's not wearing classes =/ he looks weird without them

  • maybe jermain took his classes.

Not for credit, of course, just on a pass/fail basis.

  • Jemaine is the one who wears glasses.

  • I know got the wrong name lol

  • jemaine wear the glass. but yeah good point.

  • Aw, it didn't have the best part: "Come on sucker, lick my battery." lol. Still great though!

  • they were younger, now the song sounds a lot better

  • Amazing just awesome

  • Jemaine looks so different without his glasses!

And this performance of the song seems to lack the feeling and spontaneity that their later performances are destined to have.

  • lol chris warner

  • haha i know i saw that LOL

  • they look sooo different

  • Wow. Bret looks so young... Anyone know what year this was?

  • new version is way better

but i guess this was just a prototype

  • I love the random blonde at 2:41

  • haha yeah. What was the point of that. LOOK AT THIS WOMAN ENJOYING HERSELF

  • i don't think the crowd could handle the sheer power of fotc back then. hahaha

  • these people are stupid!!!

    they barely laughed!!

    arrrrg!!

they probably thought fotc were robots.

and that they really wanted to kill humans.

    aha

  • i like the new version

  • I agree with everybody. different version although still good and they did improve it over time. but also, the crowd: wtf??? robots would laugh at this more than these people!!!

  • OMG This version is so different from the other one!!! Not thats its bad, i like this version too.

I think they were probably playing in front of dead people, cuz how can you not laugh at that???

  • This is one of my favorite FotC songs. Although, they really improved it over the years.

  • the audience sucks...

  • wow there were so many parts the audience didnt even laugh at that were so funny

  • BILL BAILEY!!!!

omg jermaine looks so different and bret is so cute!

    what a dead crowd!!!!

  • nobody was laughing because the robots poisoned their asses with poisonous gases! (actually their lungs)

  • BINARY SOLO!

  • omg they are so young! cute! =]

  • i poked on it was dead wow genious

  • xD This is so old. Nobody in the audience laughed....

  • Jemaine's Stephen-Hawking-robot voice just may be the best part of this.

  • i love bill bailey

  • Nobody cares.

  • some people think we're pessimistic, but they'll probably die

  • My god they look different

  • omg, this was so long ago!

    they look so different.

bill bailey doesn't, I think he's just always looked like that!

  • master piece

  • they look diffrent in every video

  • ...they're humans.

  • yea i agree!

  • The crowd SUCKS

  • man, they've come so far and they've really fine-tuned this song to perfection.

  • wow tough crowd. that was awesome anyways.

  • Bill Bailey and FOTC!!!

    Why can't this happen everyday?!

  • i can understand why they didnt laugh, i liked the other version they did at the other concert

  • im not sure but it looks like one of their earlier gigs... the one on that other concert sounded more refined, obviously they thought about it more so probably done at a later date....

oohhh yeah see that hard core logic

  • Yea this is a clip from TV2 in New Zealand, so imagine it was much earlier on.

  • I actually really like this version except for the poor quality. No it didnt get the laughs but I dont really dig the awkward silences and intentional appearance of being unorganized/rehearsed. I like how they stuck to the structure cuz its a good one. And I like the longer Binary Solo.

  • pretty hard crowd they wernt very happy were they

    poor concordes

  • When it was filmed ???

OMG, no one laughed at the "year 2000, in the distant future" bit o_O

  • This was filmed at Auckland, New Zealand. In 2005.

  • the other version is way better.

  • i totally agree

  • LOLOL

  • Plus: love Bill Bailey!

  • For an early version u can see the basics! Whats the point of making music or comedy unless you can improve with time and experience!

  • The absolute truth. That's what comedy is all about. I'm glad to see somebody else who gets it. FotC rock and they will always rock, especially with every new incarnation of each 'classic' and new bit they create. Brilliant stuff.

  • mmhm. they got so much better, it seems like they have more fun with it as they get older and they can manage to make their material even funnier =]

  • they look so young and nervous here compared to the later shows... they are awesome though =)

  • lame compared to other version

  • Wow look at jemaine!

  • I have that jacket Brett is wearing.

  • i love them, but omg! this is a shocking version!

  • DANG. Where's the facial hair?!

  • SRSLY

  • Not the best version of their song, but it was still good. It's a shame that they didn't get many laughs - I don't know if the audience just wasn't much of a laughing type or if they just didn't appreciate how funny it was, but it's kind of sad D:

  • its probably coz its not in america. for some reason american audiences are louder

  • The mic on the audience was quite quiet though. Their playing drowned it out quite a bit. I'm not sure there were many hysterics but I'm sure people were laughing in parts, they just weren't that audible.

  • Not the best version of this song

  • omg. i quite like this song, but... BRETS GOT MANERIXIC!!! AND WERE R THE FIKIN SIDEBURNS?

they seem very tired now. poor thingz.
