as opposed to other systems in which 10% or 1% or .000000001% can take away the rights of everyone else? democracies can have constitutions, (either decided by the 66% the 51% or of some elite group that comprise the smaller denominations I listed before) which make rights based on universal application of law. There is always danger in any governmental structure, the least danger exists for the majority in democracy. Most people would prefer to get their way with everything, all can't at once

You are correct RemiG2006 only so long as the masses remain content to be kept in the dark and be fed bullshit.

I think the point of this video post is that and increasingly wired world is giving the masses a greater access to facts and a more direct voice. If we can use that voice and "intelligence" reverse corporate dominance the people may have a chance in our life time. (Research the rapid changes of the last 20 years, it could be countered in 10.)

It may be here as a consciousness, but democracy has a long way to go before it finally smashes the yoke of reactionary conservative traditions among billions of people. Real democracy is about a choice made over power and unless this democratic consciousness can be translated into real political power through organization, leadership, and mobilization then cynicism and hopelessness will result in the Third World just as it has resulted in the industrial world for the same reasons.
