Tobey made one "version" of SpiderMan who... wasn't SpiderMan. Alone, the movies were good. But this wasn't SpiderMan as it was supposed to be. At all. Peter Parker wasn't an emotional-eternal-looser-shy-nerdy looser as he was depicted in the first movies. SpiderMan had "web capsules", not a "web-generating-scar". A lot of these "details" were stripped out from the first series.

1.) Tobey looked much too old for the role.
-- Andrew looks much closer to the proper age.
2.) Tobey's performance as Peter Parker wasn't convincing. He made the character seem like a pathetic, icky, creepy, abnormal, freak.
-- So far Andrew seems more like a semi-geeky teenager, who has maybe had kind of an unfulfilling upbringing.
All in all, Andrew Garfield seems more physically and personally fit for the role. But that's just my opinion.

You guys are so blind.....he is NOT Spider-Man, and he never will be. Garfield lives up to the character, he's read the books(Tobey didn't), he's seen the show, he's practiced the jokes he WILL be a good Spider-Man. And after the Shit Fest known as Spider-Man 3, I know that Garfield can know what not to do for this movie and it's sequels!

@SMASH18XD aye aye ....what they achieved in the movies was a dramatic version of peter parker ....in the cartoon he was buffy and muscular , but in the movies he appears to be more humanish .....thats realism and awsomeness in my oppinion cause remember that he became who he is cause of the vengance for his uncle's death .....i dunno .....but i really would want any1 else than toby in spidermans place ...

UGH....DO SOME FUCKING RESEARCH! Toby is a good actor, but his role as spiderman was TERRIBLE, Andrew Garfield will be the best spiderman he can be, for one thing, the movie will stick closer to the comics, another thing is Peter Parker will actually LOOK like a teenager...so stop hating on a movie that isn't even out yet...
