"Rumble" was considered too menacing by some radio stations back when it was released in the early 50's. And they would not play it. Sounds ridiculous now, but ya had to be there -- adults didn't get it and it scared them.
Link Wray pretty much invented "rock guitar attitude". Think how different rock would have been if Pete Townsend, to name just one, had modeled himself after The Ventures or Carl Wilson of the Beach Boys (no disrespect meant to either) instead of LR.
I don't think the drummers crash is high enough.
