@qwe123303 Last time I checked he only harmed people out of self defense and protecting others. What are you talking about? The only time he killed where it wasn't really "necessary" was with Nino but that's why they have the very symbolic scene where Driver transforms(so to speak) into someone else in order to kill him.
this film was the prime example of a 'man's gotta do...' situation... the violence is shocking, abrupt and entirely justified, as it was only used in the defence of the driver or Irene and Benicio. one of the best films of the past ten years and refn is a fucking genius.
@MyDamagedBrain Agreed. "Clearly" both in his work on screen and in interviews. Pusher, Bronson, Valhalla Rising, Drive... One of the smartest, truly brilliant, uncompromising filmmakers today. A master craftsman and artist. Visionary, unpretentious, just goes straight at 'em. Knows exactly what he wants to put on screen, to what effect, and how. Supreme control from first frame to last. Rare. And he's barely past 40. Here's to a long career ahead of him.
Reminds me very much of Chris Nolan.

@qwe123303 Why don't you think it was justified? I don't remember him killing anyone who was not trying to kill him.

Only few directors can express their ideas so clearly as Nicolas does.
