Not one of their better nights. Don't take this wrong, I've been all over the US and EUR to see them and would take Floyd's worst performance over any other bands best, but they were off on this night....
a fond memory: was 16 years old and over at a friend's house, he just picked up a copy of the new Floyd album. He put it on the stereo, then rolled a joint of something really good, and within 15 minutes I felt catapulted to a new dimension. The song was "Dogs."
Awesome... I love the Animals album... Some of Gilmour's best guitar work. I was lucky enough to see PK on the huge tours of the late 80s and early 90's... I believe he became an even better player and singer on late tours, but this is really cool!

Animals is Pink Floyd's best album overall. I know Dark Side Of The Moon gets all the credit for being their best work but this album was pure magic in just 5 tracks. It absolutely is the most listenable long-length album I have ever heard.
This is a really good live version of this song. Hoping an Immersion set of Animals is put out. EMI/Capitol is doing Immersion sets for DSOTM,WYWH and The Wall. The Animals album is worthy of having a special box come out.Would be cool to have the bridged version of Pigs on a Wing on CD.
It's lame that this video uses footage from "Animal Farm," a critique of the Bolshevik Revolution, when this Floyd album is actually a scathing critique of capitalism. Kind of mixing up the message there...
@seabrighter@seabrighter I see the point you are making, I've often wondered if Roger Waters was a communist (that not an insult as such, we're intensely relaxed about other peoples politics in Britain).. He's at least a socialist - i'm not even sure what point "the Final Cut" is making about the Faulklands.. i mean, was waters in favour of just handing over British Sovereign territory and a couple of thousand subjects over to an illegal invader?!? don't get me wrong though - love the album.
@JeffBend These images from the Animal Farm were taken from an original Pink Floyd clips for the Animals album, according the Orwell's totalitarian society, a very common thing in the IXX and XX centuries. Perhaps, the "BIG BROTHER" may be the "Money" as well, which drives some business owners crazy against its working class, but also this old totalitarian communism. Anyway, I have read some Waters's interviews where he say that Animals is about politics, outlining left wing ideals.
@JeffBend Waters was a dedicated Socialist, probably still is. As for the Final Cut, he was also a dedicated pacifist, having lost his father, a World War 2 fighter pilot, before even knowing him [this is where a bunch of The Wall comes from]. He was against war, period, and felt that the Falklands War was cynically motivated by Thatcher to gin up flag-waving nationalist sentiment and cheap support, at the cost of British lives. I'm American, Reagan had an equivalent in the invasion of Grenada,
@Germany1111 mmmm yeah, you know it's wierd, I love his music - but i couldn't talk politics with Roger Waters, he'd drive me mad. We did notice the Grenada thing over here - Technically he was attacking britain, seeing as the Queen is head of state. Oh, i know about Anzio and all that, interestingly, did you know an early working title for the Final Cut was "Spare Bricks" !?? some of the songs were left over from the Wall, you can kindda see which ones too :) oh, please enjoy my new floyd cover

Some people say comfortably numb is Gilmour's best solo but I completely disagree. his second solo is absolutely phenomenal. Perfect build up the climax is so raw and it feels like the last couple of notes just lays you to bed after a chaotic minute and a half. Gilmour is flawless and by far my biggest inspiration.

i am open to critique -but ANIMALS had something that was outstanding-that album said they could go on forever with a flavor like nobody could touch-Animals was dark side-and wish you were here combined and then taken to a different level or smoothness... That album was Superior and a tremendous peak for the band..The Wall just didn't do or have the feel that animals had...maybe my opinion..But i am strong on that...
many of the floyd albums are genius-but the wall was a totally different direction for the band from that point on-and many people agree--and most people know this-it was very commercial-sure it sold-sure it had some older flavor on it-but a different direction for sure--and later they actually had more musicians play on stage with them-i mean they had every electronic gadget you could think of -so why more people to play-....if that clears things up...
@TheTayedrums i guess you are entitled to your opinion, even if you are completely wrong in what you assert to. The Wall is pure musical genius. Have you even heard A Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell?
After looking at my collection of ticket stubs,I attended this tremendous show at Phillys Spectrum on June 28,1977 and 14 days prior saw Led Zep at Madison Sq. Garden.I'll be dammed if I remember these 2 great concerts within 2 weeks of each other, then again its been 32 hazy years since.

Anyone know (?).. is that Snowy White doing the vocals (and backup guitar) in the beginning and throughout most of the song (I've never seen Snowy, and I'm assuming); anyone??
Its bootleg 1977-05-09 - Oakland Coliseum, Oakland, California, USA, Author should tell that. This YT movie is low quality but i have this bootleg in FLAC witch is quite nice.
Anyway "Okland" is one of the best bootlegs of "Animals" turnee
@rsreed63 That's incorrect. FM Radio was given a copy of Dogs which was split into 2 parts. WPLJ and/or WNEW played it back then. Both Pigs and Sheep were also played. With that said, breaking the song in half didn't work for me. I always thought if you're going to edit it, then just cut the thing to 5 minutes so it has a beginning middle and end.
Worth noting that they never censored Pigs for language.
my late father was lucky enough to see pink floyd at the 1975 knebworth festival, where they played Dark Side Of The Moon, then Wish You Were Here, THEN the prototype version of Animals, ALL IN THEIR ENTIRETY, i envy the fact that i didnt talk to him about his gig experiences when i had the chance
I attended the Pink Floyd 1977 Madison Square Garden shows, and I must say, they were some of the best shows I ever attended! And, I saw them all that year, within weeks of each other. Led Zeppelin, ELP, Pink Floyd, YES, Lynard Skynard, Jethro Tull and topped it off on Sept 3, 1977 at Englishtown NJ racetrack and the Legendary Grateful Dead Concert! What a summer! Yeah, and watching this video, brings it all back to me.
@vn3009 Cripes! When they break into the double guitar solo at 5min, I get goosebumps bigger than Mt Everest...just like the first time I heard this album! Wow.....
@vn3009 Well, there's no official audio that was recorded at any of the In The Flesh Tour shows, so everything that you hear is a bootleg, which means poor quality, especially since audio devices back then weren't as good. Or video devices, for that matter.
Untrue. This is an officially recorded thing-the quality of the recording and camera work is way too good for it not to be.
However, the quality of the recordings themselves are very bad posted. Its a good bet SOMEONE has the originals and they're quite remarkable quality, but this looks like the audio was off of an acetate and the video is off VHS.
Which means...it isn't going to be higher quality until the vaults get opened.
@vn3009 look up the version from waters in the flesh tour in 2000, think it was from the portland oregon show. doyle bramhall, the guy playing gilmours parts, he plays his guitar upside down
Good job! Thanks again

La mùsica de Floyd es como un río que fluye por toda el alma y se lleva todas la impurezas que ahi en ella.

i love the realm of emotions gilmour brings through his guitar. he makes it soar at times, and gets so low and gritty at times its like a dog barking.

i am open to critique -but ANIMALS had something that was outstanding-that album said they could go on forever with a flavor like nobody could touch-Animals was dark side-and wish you were here combined and then taken to a different level or smoothness... That album was Superior and a tremendous peak for the band..The Wall just didn't do or have the feel that animals had...maybe my opinion..But i am strong on that...
TheTayedrums 11 months ago
many of the floyd albums are genius-but the wall was a totally different direction for the band from that point on-and many people agree--and most people know this-it was very commercial-sure it sold-sure it had some older flavor on it-but a different direction for sure--and later they actually had more musicians play on stage with them-i mean they had every electronic gadget you could think of -so why more people to play-....if that clears things up...
TheTayedrums 11 months ago
the wall sucked like goat shit-Animals was the last true Pink Floyd album..SOUNDS LIKE SOME SMART LISTENERS ARE IN HERE TOO..
TheTayedrums 11 months ago
@TheTayedrums i guess you are entitled to your opinion, even if you are completely wrong in what you assert to. The Wall is pure musical genius. Have you even heard A Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell?

great job is the best video, love pink floyd.
michaux6000 1 year ago

Wow.....
blueznjazz123 1 year ago
@vn3009 Well, there's no official audio that was recorded at any of the In The Flesh Tour shows, so everything that you hear is a bootleg, which means poor quality, especially since audio devices back then weren't as good. Or video devices, for that matter.
why0isnt0this0workin 11 months ago
@why0isnt0this0workin
Which means...it isn't going to be higher quality until the vaults get opened.
clibinarius 11 months ago
@vn3009 you gotta be kidding! 1977...better sound? that's 40 years ago!
