To me, weight lifting only adds weight/bulk for looks more than it does for punching power. For power punching, pushups/pullups are best to strengthen the fast twitch muscles that put a "snap" into your punch and strengthen tendons. Also, skipping rope for minutes at a time w/ a speed rope or a weighted one like the one Nonito is using here will work and build those muscles and bring your reflexes to their best, if you are dedicated..otherwise your just "hopping rope".

Depends on the person and if their routine. I'm saying pushups/pullups and skipping rope are staple..essential. Stamina you develop from lifting weights is cool for strengthening as long as you don't injure yourself by getting greedy on reps or not using the right form, going to fast. Almost any well seasoned boxer will run circles around a lifter..who doesn't box that is.

not sure if you got your answer already but let me share my exp with you. I used to do explosive elevated pushups. This increased my muscle mass dramatically. Then I noticed that my speed decreased and my punching power dropped. My sparring partner also noticed this. I stopped doing that and I working on shoulder excercises and speed. My power is better than it's ever been. Good luck. Get rid of those useless muscles.
