this concert is fucking xcellence, I was able to see them at Mohegan Sun, CT in May 2008 when they first got back together (before Between the Lines was released) they fuckin kicked ass
@guitarguy5: Totally! And I got to see 2 of them this year on my 24th birthday at the DC101 Chili Cook Off!!!! It was EPIC! And it rained during AIC's "Rain When I Die" ....so beautiful :)
heard interview years ago this is deffinately about rape not a nice subject but the swing version on the b side of the Plush single has a creepy sound which suites the subject matter. By the way Polly by Nirvana was about the same subject but more obtuse refference.
This version kicks ass, I don't care what you guys think. It sounds creepy, and as much as I love the original version, the dark ambiance wasn't subtle enough.

ok ... can we please not jerk the band off because we like them. this version sucks. it's a great song, but it's about rape, it's supposed to be violence, not sexy ... this version is a mess.
@RobKelly21 screw up man. this versions is fine. It is certainly different, but in terms of sound, it is great. Plus its a good example of STP's range.
@sheridan891 that's ridiculous. The song is about something, and this style of music doesn't capture that. Yes, it shows their range, but they could have done that with a different song.
i don't think the song is about rape because the lyrics say "I know u want whats on my mind I know you like whats on my mind i know it eats u up inside i know you know you know you know" i think it is a song about a guy wanting to have sex with his girl but his girl is a little unsure but deep down inside she really wnats to have sex; frustration on the guys part
this version is so fucking awesome, i kinda like this version more for some reason. i get reminded of sinatra and the rat pack, probably cuz of the lyrics and the swing style music
try reloading it but add proper acrediation to the track. List the song, artists and recording company and add an all rights reserved and they might let her keep it.
A different version, like a heavy metal version, there's an video with it here in youtube? Someone has the link? I really want the GT2 version of this song!
Damn, I might actually like this version more than the original. Wait...I might have to think about that one a minute.STP, please get back together and come to Atl!!!
@fckrocknroll Actually, I heard it on the radio back in '06. That rock station is now defunct, and I only ever heard it that one time. Nowadays when I call to request it, nobody knows what the hell I'm talkin about. But it does exist somehwere out there.
@fckrocknroll You'd think they'd want to release an excellent concert on CD and DVD are they ever gonna do that?? this show's the definition of excellence and niceness
I love Eric's brush jazz style drumming and Shawn and Lonnie Tubbs played with STP for this song and concert. They play all these great twangy notes! They are really good guitar players too just like Dean DeLeo!
I love this swingy/jazzy version of Sex Type Thing. STP have alot of talent. They took one of their already great songs and totally reinvented it with a different sound texture and vibe!
MTV needs to release ALL of it's unplugged concerts onto DVD or CD, that would be fucking awesome! At least the STP, Pearl Jam, Aerosmith, shows. They were great! I rank this show up there with Neil Young's and Nirvana's
All those plus Alice in Chains! Don't forget that..watch the unplugged version of "Nutshell" and "Got Me Wrong"!! They were great, too..why do all the great bands end!!!

It puts you off abit slightly, knowing that this song is about rape. But at the sametime, it's still a great song. What a strange pardox indeed.

dude - they wrote the song after a girl they knew in college was raped. I'm not guessing - they have said it is about rape.
