OK you posted this vid as a response to joey jordisons drum vid.. Derek Roddy is fast, no doubt, but i personally dislike the structure of this drumsolo. It's basically blast beat, fill, ride + double bass, blast beat, cymbal action, blast beat. In my opinion he is lacking creativity and focuses on speed instead of some kind of 'flow'. Derek rocks! hes fucking fast , techniquel and in his most solos creative. but what makes him different and much better then joey and most others is not just the speed also that he plays normal rock , jazz blues etc.
Honestly, I feel that blast beats are rather boring, there's not much skill required there, and they really don't sound all that great. Derek definitely has better vids than this, but either way, I think Joey has more groove to his style of playing and I, personally, find his drumming more interesting. Niclas Vant is much more better. This solo is monotonous. Joey's drumming's more interesting. They both have the same level of drum playing.

Derek rocks! hes fucking fast , techniquel and in his most solos creative. but what makes him different and much better then joey and most others is not just the speed also that he plays normal rock , jazz blues etc.

Honestly, I feel that blast beats are rather boring, there's not much skill required there, and they really don't sound all that great. Derek definitely has better vids than this, but either way, I think Joey has more groove to his style of playing and I, personally, find his drumming more interesting. Despite the fact that I am not a slipknot fan.

Joey and Derek have totally two different styles bro, you can't really compare them. Derek Roddy has many different styles and this is one of them, which is death metal. I don't know if you heard of the band Hate Eternal but he played with them for a while, listen to them. I'm not bashing you bro.

It depends on the person . personally Derek is way better ive seen them both live and the solos Derek dose are almost ungodly compared to Joey's . Plus what you see here is just a warm up and he is not even playing full speed .

please, tell me what joey does that is SO amazing about him? Derek Roddy has perfected blast beats and has taken speed (hand & feet) to the next level. Joey Jordinson plays in SLIPKNOT, one of the most poser metal bands out there. He has brought nothing to the drummer's table, except for a snare drum that looks as cheap as it sounds. Joey is another overrated drummer. When you want to see a legendary drummer, look at Chris Adler, HE IS UNIQUE. Watch some of his complex LoG Songs. DR > JJ
