If you buy a Controller keyboard like M-Audio, they usualy include great software like Abelton Live. The keyboard itself does not make any sounds hence its called a Controller. You use the keyboard to control your computer which produces the sounds. So for $100-$200 you can get a decent controller keyboard and get some free VSTi's (Virtual Synthesizer) and use them with the included software to get something like whats in this video.

Having said that, you still need some talent :)

hey i got this keyboard recently, and i cant get any sound out of it? can u give any tips on setting it up? i dont have xp ive got vista so i have to download the new drivers?

the keyboard itself doesn't make a sound, it's a controller - the software does this. Try installing the bundled software that came with it in the box, and complete the tutorials.

as a matter of fact - you do need a computer to use it as a controller for your software synths. When using it as a controller for your hardware synths, samplers, etc. the only thing you might need in that case is a 9v AC power adapter, or some AA batteries. (And, of course, a MIDI cable)

i wouldn't recommend using it as a MASTER keyboard. Definitely not the 25-key version, because it is too small for some melodies, and chords. I would rather have a bigger keyboard without knobs as a master one, and then the umx would control the lead instrument, and fxes.

yea, it's the UMX + softsynth. Doesn't seem as if i use it much, but all these patterns were prerecorded with it.

Nice work, The kick is a little too week, try adding a harder sample, or tweaking the commression on the sample you already have. The overall aggregment is boring, No break downs, No builds, just the same shords all the way through, on the positive side, I loved the string pad sound you got going on there :P

Hey nice track! How about adding a hi-hat on every 16ths with panning automation and a few drum rolls. Try adding some extra notes into the bassline here and there to make it that bit more funky - don't be afraid to switch off the snap function, I know it maybe a little out of time but it just might be your ticket.
