You can download 2.6 for Windows 7. I've tried WLMM and it's absolutely terrible. The result after saving is a lot different than what I saw in the preview in the program.
I use Windows Live Movie Maker for my videos, but if Windows Movie Maker hadn't problems on my computer, then I would use it! Both Windows Movie Makers are great!
ive noticed that almost everyone that commented didnt pay attention. it was made for AMATEURS. not for people who actually know how to do all that movie editing stuff. for people who are just starting out.
@sonicfangamer2 I've made almost 20 movie with WLMM and I think, it did a lot for me than you do. I recommend to use what you like to use and don't criticize WLMM as a Prosumer product. Remember that WLMM is for Consumers not Prosumers.
It pisses me off that people only use WMM and WLMM for making crappy vids of their cushy little holidays! ugh it makes me feel SICK! They should be used for aspiring directors to make PROPER movies! goddamiit!
windows live movie maker is AWESOME but theres one thing i dislike that i like about the original movie maker...on live i don't think there is an option to narrate on the program, if you know a way to do this PLEASE RESPOND!! thank you
@TotallyAnonymous55 While playing the movie, record your voice using the built-in sound recorder in Vista or 7. Just time it right. For more editing in with your narration, download Audacity. Hope this helps.
To be honest i prefer The normal Movie maker. I've had so many problems with live movie maker. Iv'e had it freeze up constantly. It fails at publishing "widescreen" 480p. When i uploaded a video to youtube when i made it widescreen 480p on live it had black borders on the side of the video =/ Although it is nice it supports 1080p. I was not able to edit an AVI file. apprently it was corrupted and it let me edit it on normal movie maker. It also has no speed up or slow down effects
@UK012 Try the Windows Live Movie Maker 2011 (Wave 4). It has slow down and speed up. It fixed the 480p widescreen, apparently the 480 x 720 has the aspect ratio of 5:6 so the 480p in the new Movie Maker is 480 x 854, that fixed that 480p problem.
@newecreator ty for replying. though i dont have the computer anymore as it belong to the college i go to. but at least i'll know this for when i go to windows 7. still using XP on my main computer =P
I just got a new computer today with Windows 7 and tried the new version, come to find out I now have the ability to publish movies with .mov files and in HD and widescreen, couldn't do that before on the old WMM!
Really? Well it doesn't matter now since I recently bought a new laptop with Windows 7 on it. I just wish there was a way to speed up and slow down clips with audio, pitch shifted or kept the same, rather than just silent.
My only objection is having to sign into windows live to change the resolution..... equivalent to invasion of privacy. Stay out of our business Microsoft (and google)!!! Open source for life.
@dreyko11185 Trust me, I used Windows Live Movie Maker without signing into my Live Account. Plus my computer is completely offline this time (no money for broadband).
So what if it's for amateurs and all that? How hard would it have been to put in a speeding up or slowing down option? You have no idea how many users you've lost to live movie maker just because of that. I don't either. I just know it's alot. Any game filmer (like recording Guildwars or WoW or that stuff) won't use live movie maker just because of that so...
@figa840 The Windows Live Movie Maker Wave 4 Beta has a Speed up and Slow down option. Download the beta, and you can see the option in the Video tab. Note: When speeding up or slowing down, the sound is automatically deleted.
haha window live is like MS paint its so basic, it sucks. I kept my old windows just because the movie maker is waaaayyyyy better than moviemaker live. maybe they could of atleast gave you both programs since they already exist. Window 7 Fail.
@VegasEstates Windows 7's slogan is, "Your PC Simplified" so it makes sense that all of its compatible apps are simple. The WIndows Live team are improving the program.
Note: MS Paint has new features:
1. The Ribbon
2. Realistic Brushes, crayon, natural pencil, caligraphy pen etc. (sometimes they run out of ink)
THe only reason I don't like Live Movie Maker is because you can't import .gif files.
theultimatedonut 6 days ago
@theultimatedonut You can but no animation. True. There's a tutorial here in YouTube, but not mine.

I use WMM and I love it. Using other sites I found on google I can do a lot more effects, transitions, and fonts then what it comes with.

does windows live reduce resolution like windows move maker?
funnystuff1224 1 month ago
@funnystuff1224 If you choose the output file with a lower resolution. Like editing a 720p vid then saving it to 480p.

Stick with iMovie.. WMM is super annoying because it has almost no features, and WLMM is SO glitchy!

@SparkShowOfficial iMovie is not Windows compatible period. Can't stick to something without the "glue" on it.

@trekman2245 Did you use the Wave 3 or the Wave 4 version? Wave 4 can edit FLV. If not, download the Win7Codec Pack.
