  • the thing i remember most about this version is as the credits were rolling and gene would do his "Mark Goodson Production" speal, Ray would be in front of the family dancing his ass off to this song

  • Comment removed

  • This theme was also used from 2002 to 2003 for Richard Karn's first season.

  • do you like what you ray combs here? ray combs likes what he ray combs here.

  • I was glad when they brought this theme back, me being a child of the 80s

  • Such a great theme tune!!!

  • Here is the star of our show Steve Harvey.

  • heres the star of are show Ray Combs!!!!!!!

  • Fremantle has screwed up anything Mark Goodson has done. I know he's been gone awhile, but they should have done more to keep his memory alive.

  • The ukulele in the background makes the song hilarious!

  • @TheSunnyStar I don't hear a ukulele in the background. Do you mean the banjo?

  • @jp7725

    Yeah, the banjo!

  • @TheSunnyStar that's not a ukulele.

  • @ mastarule that would be Tonex!!!

  • LETS START THE FAMILLLLLLLY FEUD!!!!!!!!!!

  • like the music

  • 1:25 a chance to win up to 10,000 dollars

  • did u know a gospel artist used this theme song for a song he did?

  • are you ready to play the family feud?

  • Here are lyrics for Freemantle Media and the Feud producers about the lack of usage of 0:40 on the current version: You should, use this portion. But they’d rather loop the theme. You should (use this!) On the air (again) Put this (this part) On the air (again). Why can’t you see? … That you should… Fix it up… And use this portion!!!
  • LOSER

  • LET'S PLAY THE MOTHER FUCKING GODDAMN ASS BANGING FEUD!

  • Oh i agree, Steve Harvey is the best host on this show since Richard Dawson or Ray Combs. His reactions to the answers are so priceless.

  • @swimboy1982 : i agree

  • Steve Harvey is hilarious as the host, but Ray Combs owned this show!!

  • 1:25 IT'S A CHANCE TO WIN UP TO TEN THAAAAAAAAAAHSAND DOLLARS IN CASH!

  • @stvsafiria

Ah think you mean, Tweny Thahsand?

  • This is my ringtone when my ex-wife or anyone on her side of the family call me.

  • I like this version of "FF" theme -- it's much more energetic.

  • I love the banjos!!!

  • Great Theme!!!

  • i hear a banjo, jajaja

  • One of the best game show themes ever.

  • Ray Combs was great. I miss him and I think a lot of other fans miss him too.

  • We love and miss u Ray....for real

  • I loved Ray Combs. It's too bad he died when he did. I also loved this version of the Family Feud theme. It's the same, but more up to date. I like it!

  • "Seattlecarnut": After Family Feud adapted this theme for Ray Combs, they should never have messed with it. I don't like the theme used for Anderson, the majority of Karn and the first few seasons of O'Hurley.

  • @ngarcia103 I haven't been watching the more recent encarnation of Feud, so I haven't really listened to the opening theme. But I really loved the Ray Combs' Family Feud theme.

  • This theme is still used today.

  • There's a Gospel song called Games to this theme by Tonex

  • that music is awsome dude!

  • Excellent video!!

  • We miss you, Ray!

  • This is a studio band most likely recorded in L.A. Definitely real musicians, and good ones. These guys played the session once and then rode it to the bank with residuals. Great T.V. show theme.

  • I have one question. Is there a real life band incoperated in this theme at all?? Even the trumpet solo at :049 to :056 sounds like someone is really playing a trumpet. Or is this all a synthesizer? Because if you look at the old shows with Ray Combs he sometimes would thank that "Family Feud Band" So which is it??

  • Say what you want about Combs, he was great sucseccor. After Richard's last season, I rarely watched FF again exepct reruns.

  • It makes me want to dance along.

  • Ray Combs was always my favorite and this was always my favorite theme, 'course this theme, the one preceding it, and the one today are all in the same ballpark, with the exception of a few synthesizing/pacing or whatever, which doesn't really matter much.

  • NOW lets START the Faaaaaaamilyyy feuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuud

  • I love Score Productions music, but every time I go to their website, it always says that it's still being updated. Does anyone know if the award-winning production company will finish updating their website anytime soon?

  • My favorite SCORE music is CNN Headline News from 1987. Beautiful.

  • Dad, I heard he killed himself!

  • surveyyyyyyyyyyyyyy sayzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz? BAM!

  • On Your Mark!! Let's Start The Family Feud

  • To me the Combs theme and Dawson theme are really not that diffent.

  • That's about right. There's just a few subtle differences, mainly in the percussion line.

  • they are using this theme now!

  • The theme music is also heard during the Richard Karn's first season from 2002-2003, NBC version of "Celebrity Family Feud" and the 2008-09 syndicated O'Hurley version.

  • Ok, can we please not talk about Ray. Let's let the man rest in peace.

Moving on to this: for those that watch the current version with John O'Hurley, this theme has been brought back this season!

  • If Ray was in a mental hospital why was nobody watching him?

  • anyone notice that the ending stanza to this theme is used by the Price is Right to introduce the "Grand Game" for $10,000?

  • No, that's the ending stanza to the 1976-1985 theme.

  • Are you sure it's that one? I think it's this one.

  • no it was the one before 76-85 they also used part of the family feud theme when they were giving out new cars like on the late 70's early 80's TPIR's

  • They did use this theme for a time in the 1990s. But they have gone back to the original.

  • Huh? They currently use this theme.

  • No. They use the original theme for the Grand Game on The Price is Right.

  • He means on the current Feud with John O' Hurlly (sp?)

  • Ray Combs is dead because he committed suicide by hanging himself in a closet with bed sheets

  • The only reason why Ray hung himself is because he lost EVERYTHING

  • yup true but sad lost his wife,no job it suxs but hell it happens

  • how did he lose whatever it was and how did he lose it?

  • he lost his car in a car accident so he hung himself...

  • he lost any game shows, including Family Feud, because ever since they hired Combs there was a drop in the number of viewers, so they fired Combs, from that, and anything else he made a failure from and just killed himself.

  • bed sheets?

  • he died of a tumor

  • oh yeah right

  • NBC also uses this version on Celebrity Family Feud.

  • NUMBER 1 ANSWER !!!

  • Love Richard and Ray! Also like watching John O'Hurley too!! They are all good!!

  • Dawson was the better host by far...

But combs had the better theme.

  • When Richard Dawson came back in 94,he had a jazzy theme, when Louie Anderson hosted Family Feud between the years of 1999 to 2002,he had a good theme song, and a nice answer board.

  • both of dem r da best Richard n Ray r da best evaa

  • Also, I think John O'Hurley does a nice job as host these days...

  • Richard Dawson's my favorite; he was in the Running Man!

  • I think he was the best out of them all.

  • Who do you think is the best host of THE FAMILY FEUD ?

  • RICHARD DAWSON!

  • NUMBER 1 ANSWER !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ray Combs!

  • BOTH!:)

  • DAWSON!

  • Ray Combs killed himself. I wonder why. so sad!

  • No, he did have a car accident, but survived it and committed suicide afterward.

  • oh,okay.

  • The Combs-era theme was also used from mid-November 2002-May 2003 during Richard Karn's first season on "Family Feud" due to the short-lived Old Navy Family Fleece commercials.

  • What do the Old Navy Family Fleece commercials have to do with it?

  • This song was used on those commercials.

  • This sounds like Richard Dawsons theme insted of Combbs theme.

  • It is Richard Dawson's theme, albeit edited with faster paced synthesized drums/cymbals in place of the "Dawson Tamborine".

  • i think the last part is Price is Right cue music.

  • Used to be Grand Game's in the early 90s then was re-replaced by the Dawson Theme.

  • At about 0:1:33 to about 01:43, what you heard before you is actually what is currently used when the Grand Game is introduced on TPIR.

  • You are right. I was watching TPIR today and they was playing the Grand Game and I heard the same music on the last 20-30 seconds of the '88-'94 Family Feud theme and used it for their cue music for the Grand Game.

  • It was just Mark Goodson's and Bill Toodman's way of just promoting their game shows, using the Family Feud themes on TPIR.

  • This song gets you in the mood to play a game ... WHere can I get the score for this arrangment?

  • one of the (greatest) tv theme songs (EVER)

  • This theme, BTW, was probably the most heard.

  • No. The original theme was used for 9 years, and this was only used for 6.

  • I know that. It's the start of this theme that was heard most often.

  • Huh?
