  • Cool. I'm going to order now.

  • Meanwhile in Italy...Yes 4 Ghz pc!! :D

  • I'm sure the machine would have been OK as a typewriter, as long as you had that printer. I know my C64 and printer got me a lot of mileage in university.

  • @:40 what is that rectangular media?

  • Was the Plus4 the downfall of Commodore?

Shame they're no longer around, even if they'd be making PCs.

  • @capricious71 Technically, yes. Jack Tramiel left because this failed, and then they had chaotic management issues.

  • C64 was better. It could do better graphics, better sound and had better software support.

  • @snake2006 - Better sound yes, but technically the Plus/4 had better graphics since it had 127 colors and the C64 only had 16. Plus/4 also had a faster CPU, better BASIC, and a lot of other neat things. The biggest drawback was no hardware sprites.

  • With it priced like that it was clearly in C64s territory. It was supposed to be much cheaper as an answer to the Sinclair which had a horrible keyboard compared to the plus 4. Jack probably would have sold millions of these had he stayed on.

  • Anybody interested in some new Commodore samples?

  • He moves his arms too much. I'm afraid he's about to break into a strip tease. "That's what she said!" Ba-Dum-Dum!!

  • Popular Plus 4 computer? I've never seen on in use by anyone in my life and I used to service Commodore Micro's :).

  • @SkuldChan42 i had one as a kid in australia as a kid

  • Smacks of desperation doesn't it. Virtually giving them away.

  • Heyyyy, THATS the F'ker who ripped me off in the 80's! LOL.

YOUTUBE You are AMAZING to find so many things of the past.

Story:I had ordered an extra printer and they sent me a computer, I asked to return it, they sent the return box and then.....you guessed it, when they got it they sent Me another computer!! How Crazy is that?

  • HAHA I just called the number they had no Idea what I was talking about I said I would like to order the plus 4 computer and they said it was a wrong number whats with that lol.

  • May have been more popular if it had C64 compatibility but it didn't, nor did it not have sprite capability. Just one of the many mistakes mgmt made.

  • I still my commodore plus 4 in new condition although i havent touched it in years. Was never as good as the C64 though.

  • I see. I just want to know, guyvf.

  • This is utterly hilarious. The Plus/4 was a complete dud, and this guy's got a whole pile of worthless stock and is trying to dump it as soon as possible.

The amount of spin the guy is giving is amazing. He's trying to confuse it with the Commodore 64, which actually was "popular" unlike the plus/4.

  • lol the great home computer boom of the 80s, so many people's fingers were burnt!

He bought too much from Commodore, probably under the impression that it was going to be as popular as the C64. After realising what a mistake he'd made, he's now in a situation of offloading the stock, even at a loss, just to shift it.

You're right, the Plus/4 and C16 were complete duds, Commodore should've been concentrating on selling the Amiga. No business sense. No wonder they went bankrupt eventually.

  • Did the Commodore Plus/4 also use the SID chip?

  • no. sound wise, it was more like a VIC 20.

  • omg... lol.. the number still works! lol.. its funny!

  • The best Plus/4 emulator on PC: YAPE

    Skoro/Assassins

  • What a liar. That tape wasn't full length! It looked like mostly spool.

  • buy now 100 !!!!!!

  • wtf "the popular plus/4 computer". its really the commodore minus/60

  • this video has more kilobytes then that computer?

  • I thought the Plus/4 looked pretty cool back in the day. Shame it was crap.

  • I just called the toll-free number shown in the commercial today, 9/12/08, but apparently I am too late! :( They've apparently already sold out of these powerful state-of-the-art high speed computers! I sure hope they get some more in stock soon!

  • My first computer was a Plus/4 - Mastertronic were the only real mass publisher of games. I loved it.

  • I owned the plus/4 back in the day, upgraded from a C16. It was a piece of crap with hardly any independent games or exclusive software. It looked like it was built in a Russian barn. And It's true, every time you quoted it, nobody ever heard of the thing. The C64 was much more user friendly.

  • Hell yeah!

  • LOOK MA!! grandpa made a red square box.. this is awesome family fun!

  • I still have a plus 4 in the box. It's a hot looking machine. What about the audio? Are you saying the ted is better than the sid in terms of audio? I am not talking about the other functions of the ted...

  • so do i...my dad got one after seeing this commercial...trippy

  • Hmm. Everything in this video is true except for the "popular" part. Oh.. and the Plus/4 was a very well engineered computer and superior to the 64 in many ways.. unfortunatly, as many have pointed out, the lack of sprites was the real killer.

  • I had a plus4 it whent in the bin shortly after I was given in in 1995!

  • oh my god i never realised they were so cheap in the us

  • i got one for xmas as a kid

    it was shite!

  • LOL just had to say, your comment cracked me up then "it was shite" :-D ha ha. I have one of these computers, boxed etc, with all the original included games. I purchased it from eBay a couple of years back, I didn't know anything about the computer tbh, but I got it 'cos I thought the machine itself looked good.Performance wise & gameswise probably not so good, like you said "it was shite" LOL. But I love my retro machines which is why I got it really. It'll never beat the mighty C64 though :-D

  • 64 Kilobytes of memory... Holy crap.. How far we've come..

  • I called the number and wanted to buy one, but they didn't know what I was talking about.

  • what a piece of rip off crap this was, the C64 was much better. or at least the C128

  • not technically, it was a little bit better in most points but it lacked one killer feature: sprites.. coding games was pita

  • Sony must feel like this guy with all those PS3s stacked up behind them.
