Excellent acting. You can watch the picture without the sound or hear the sound without the picture, and either way, you still "get" the full force of Christina's anguish. Bravo, Sandra Oh! She did some FANTASTIC acting in the Burke/Christina relationship storylines.
this is the most absolute best episode ever this is the best scene! i love it she wants to be but a part of her didn't want to be she wanted burke and now she cant and she doesn't know what to do now that she is free from burke and his mother. i just love the show and i love this scene!
It's called "Keep Breathing" by Ingrid Michaelson. It'll be on the season three soundtrack.
And, I will have to say, this scene is truly amazing. The number two scene in my book. But honestly, I don't think anything can beat the season two finale. It, to me, is the best scene ever written for television.
I don't even watch Grey's Anatomy but you really could get the emotions behind this scene of feeling finally free from someone she shoudln't have been with in the first place - amI right?
Christina was under a lot of pressure in this relationship. Trying to be the person that Burke wanted her to be, because she loved him. And it took a toll on her. That's why she for that moment was glad to be free. But then she realized what her freedom cost her. It cost her Burke and their love. So she's free of the pressure of the relationship and can now be herself, but she's lost Burke in the process. She's realizing that her freedom isn't that perfect.
"I really thought she was thinking to herself that she is finally free, and for the first time she didn't want to be. That's why she says damn it. That's how I understand it."
Also, don't you notice the way she says "take this off!"? That shows right there that she's sick of the "shackles" she's been forced to live with for the past few weeks. She's desperate to breathe and get back to her old life.
That's not how I interpeted it. The reason I think she wanted to take off her necklace was because Mama Jane said it would make her a "Burke" but she wasn't at that point. It kept reminding her that she wasn't a Burke woman.
She wanted to be "free", but part of her was devastated and yet PISSED. Watch it again, she's pissed and wants to take off the choker that she wore for his sake, and yet his ungrateful ass(in her mind) left her anyway. She DID want to be free. Really, there's no point in this debate, since you can read what I'm saying in Shonda's blog, lol. I made a good guess and happened to be right.
lol thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard. It's very unlikely ABC whose parent company is disney, cant afford to make another season of the show. Not to mention the show is the most watched show on television.
This episode...this scene...saddest I've ever seen.Burn the house and rebuild it? It was lovely the way it was Shonda!! Anyway, Sandra was amazing in this scene.
I literally cannot watch. It makes me sick just to think about how painful that was. That is how freaking BRILLIANT Sandra Oh is. And how freaking much I'm hating Shonda Rhimes right now. lol.
and as for the "I'm free" thing- I think she means just that. She's free, and she really doesn't want to be
I think Xtina is actually truly glad to be free. But, she has mixed feelings because she lost Burke in the process. She's crying because she's confused and isn't sure WHAT to feel, but I do think she values her freedom. This is why she was so adamant about getting the choker and dress off. She couldn't wait to be herself again, but she doesn't know what to do with herself either.
I really thought she was thinking to herself that she is finally free, and for the first time she didn't want to be. That's why she says damn it. That's how I understand it.
I was already hyperventilating crying when George and Baily were talking and she asked him if she failed him, and then this scene came on and I was a goner!
i think that she is free, but she doesn't want to be. i'm cryinf. and i can't stop! noo how can this happen! why why why why why!!! how could he! no this can't be happening. i ... i mean ... why???
i am arguing with my co-workers about this clip... i believe that christina is releasing the overbearing pain of losing Burke and they think she is excited that she is free... uh... i don't think she is excited at all.. what do you think??
This scene is so theatrical; I love it!

Yeah there's going to be a fourth season but Burke and Adisson won't be there! Lexie Grey will be the new cast member, she's Meredith half-sister

She didnt want to be free, Burke thought she did, but she didnt want to be married. She wants Burke, without marriage.

This show is going to suck without Burke/Cristina, they'll never pair her with a better love interest. Grey's has really sucked S3.

I think Cristina is realizing that she doesn't want to be free. Why would she say "Damn it. Damn it." right after that?
Kymleelak 4 years ago
because she's torn about what to feel. She DID love him, but she didn't want to get married and be something she's not ready to be(and may never be).
