To all Michael Nyman fans: You MUST watch the video of "Let There Be Light "... it's a song by MICHAEL NYMAN with rock noir band BELLADONNA and it's based on his music from "The Piano". Nyman himself plays piano on it... search for "nyman belladonna" here on youtube and you'll find it!! :-)
I just had an exam today in which we studied this kind of aphasic people. Wow! They don't get a word of what they listen but they get every specific detail of the attached expressions!! Wowwwwwww!! I want to watch this film
It was a brilliant book but I don't understand how it could be adapted into a film, there are too many case studies which could not really connect in a film to form a narrative/plot.
It certainly is a very interesting book. Sacks has written lots of interesting books. TMWMHWFAH is probably a good introduction to his work because it is lots of short episodes.
I've seen the whole opera in a wonderful, very modern version in Sao Paulo, Brazil. It's amazing how such an interesting opera was produced from Dr. Sachs' book. There are no murders, no love scenes... just a patient (a classical singer) with a strange brain condition, his wife and the doctor. And stunning music. Don't miss it if you have a chance to see it.
no there isn't but there is a play written by peter brook. its really good and quite unlike anything else. its pretty much the patients displayed to us like that of Ollie Sacks' book, with a few alterations here and there. u'll prob like it :)
directed by Christopher Rawlence, based on an essay by Oliver Sacks; camera, Christopher Morphet; edited by Howard Sharp; music by Michael Nyman; libretto by Mr. Rawlence; distributed by Films for the Humanities. At Film Forum 1, 57 Watts Street. Running time: 75 minutes. This film has no rating. The Neurologist ... mile Belcourt Dr. P. ... Frederick Westcott Mrs. P. ... I *love* the book! It made me consider neuroscience as a possible major. What is this trailer for? The play?
