Yeah he's referring to the guitar he uses on all of his records, it was built by Kris Derrig and is a 1959 Les Paul home-made replica with a sorta, Amber tiger stripe finnish but the stripes are very fine and close together.

If you read his biography, it was made by a dude who made them all by hand personally.

He had several guitars before that but all sounded shit. two jacksons and a BC Rich.

his first ever guitar was an old flamenco guitar of his gran's. He was originally wanting to learn bass, as steven adler knew guitar, and they wanted to form a band, but slash didn't have a bass to learn on, and once his tutor showed him some guitar, he fell in love with it.

Gibson Les Paul is pretty expensive, a copy is obviously cheaper. I'd go for one of the epiphone LP's. VERY cheap and still has a very nice sound for the price.

Not that we didn't know he got his copy which wasn't made in very large numbers. I'd like to get my hands on one. But the ones that didn't get trashed, are not for sale. pity

The guitar Slash is referring to is a copy of a gibson les paul 59. It is not a Gibson. Chris Derrig, who has passed on, made , I believe no more than 100, and slash got his hands on one and used that one in the studio. Epiphone is OWNED by Gibson and there really is not a huge difference between the 2 especially the Les Pauls, I own a les paul standard (epi) and a Gibson Les Paul standard plus and they both sound the same except the gibson one has a little better tone and has a nicer finish but personally Epiphone works harder on their guitars and Gibson half asses it really, gibson doesn't put alot of work into theirs and you will see if you go to Guitar Center, there are LPs with knobs loose and scratches et

The reason why they have scratches and loose knobs is because guitar center lets anyone who comes into the store play the fucking guitar, dumbass. Everything at Gibson is handmade, while everything at Epiphone, made overseas, have some wires HOT GLUED instead of soldered.

Guitar Center doesn't allow the high priced Gibsons to be played you dumb fuck, I ordered my Gibson Les Paul standard plus from Musicians friend and it came with a loose knob, I called them and they fixed it free of charge. I have to agree with you here, mass produced Gibsons are BAD these days, the only good things that Gibson produce these Days are guitars that come out of the Custom & Historic workshop, the standards are poorly setup, and they use a short neck tenon joint, which has a big impact on the guitars tone, however, all the Les Pauls to come from the C&H workshop all have the Long Neck Tenon, which is what gives you that real Les Paul sound...

I would agree with you if you are talking about Epiphone Japan, but being a guitarist of 14 years, and having owned several Epiphone LP standards, that were built in Korea and China, they both sucked when I first got them, but after popping out the p/ups and getting them professionally setup and getting new p/ups installed they were alright, but now I play Japanese LP replicas, most notably my Tokai, and she sings better than any Gibson I have played...

Epiphone makes some high quality guitars, even though they're KNOWN for their cheap ones. Gibson isn't that impressive half the time. Any actual guitar player who's been around the block will tell you that there's one out of a bundle that will stick out whether it's the sound or quality or whatever. Gibson's been doing a half ass job for quite some time. There IS a huge difference in quality, but poorly put together. Screws sticking out, rings falling off, etc. I've seen it. It's really sad.
