I love documentaries about food and this is a great one!!! Just saw this now I'm going to watch "Hell and Back Again" on Netflix instant watch. Has anyone seen it? bitly .com/zJDaIj
You guys should research what veggies contain protein, and nuts and legumes. Educate yourselves. Did you know Albert Einstein didn't eat meat? Nor did Carl Lewis.
@79Everlast79 You'd think that and yet, he did anyways. He said at the beginning, "I'm the sort of bloke that likes to tackle my demons head on." The idea is that he gathers help and support for himself and others as he goes along.
I love this movie. It DID inspire me to get a juicer like the one in the movie after I figured out that I am reacting badly to corn ( It' s in everything.) I just added the juice to my diet to get more veg in me. Super how the juice can satisfy this former junk food junkie's sweet tooth. My favorite is Kale and apple! My long lost energy is returning.
Excellent documentary. I have watched it 5 times the past 10 days because I keep showing it to family and friends. I think you can take the diet even a step further by drinking fresh juice AND green smoothies. It's all about balance and green smoothies provide everything fresh juice does PLUS fiber and nutrients from the skin. Good stuff!
Personally, I've never been overweight. I've stayed healthy because I've stuck to the genius, Dr Joel Fuhrman's (he makes an appearance in this film already) completely vegan diet. (or "nutricarian", as he calls it). It's fantastic. I actually feel good after every meal :D
When I first became vegan, I thought I'd be eating boring BORING shitty food...but I've fallen in love with this diet. Believe it or not, I can actually live without meat, dairy, salts, unhealthy sugars oils. <3
After over three years of carrying around over 80 lbs of excess pregnancy + stress weight, I began a Juice Fast on 8/7/11 after watching this documentary. I juiced for 60 days & lost nearly 50 lbs! I am now on a high raw (90+%) foods diet/lifestyle & since 8/7 have dropped nearly 70 lbs!! This film changed my life! I knew what to do (I am a holistic wellness coach) but stress & family problems had me too depressed to do it. Watching these guys push themselves & win helped push me to win too!
Wow, this trailer has me CRYING!! I'm going to hunt down this documentary with the quickness..I'm fat sick and dying at 445lbs and I want to live!! Any help or just some encouragement would be greatly appreciated..
@MrsBabyfat I know doctors wont recommed this, But I have found the only way to really lose weigt is to shrink your stomach.. And the only way that you can do it is by starving yourself.. You have to put less food than your body needs in order for it to shrink.. The problem is. The fatter you are the larger your stomach is.. It can be done. There is only one person who can do it and that is you. Its tough but can be done..

@MrsBabyfat You can do it! Keep trying and be patience! Woohoo I believe you can do it! It's hard to do something alone so here "take this Fluttershy" (<- type that into google images if you dont know what i mean :)

i just bought a juicer after watching the movie (available on netfix instant watch) and can't wait to start using it on monday! the university gym membership is going to finally be used too!!!
this documentary CHANGED MY LIFE!!!! scared the CRAP out of me that a heart attack costs $56,000......I juice m-thursday and have lost 15 lbs and feel GREAT!
Okay, okay. I take-back my comment. I knew you probably gave very detailed and great advice. I was just trying to provoke you. I'm a button pusher by nature.
omg people all he does is change his diet and work out... PERIOD! its what people been saying all along its just people don't have the discipline to do it they wait it easy and fast just like there food...eat better and work out and you will loose weight
@broadcast1010 "Change" is a very broad description of what he did to his diet. I believe he was hooked on ubiquitous high salt, high fat, high sugar foods. He broke this habit by fasting on juice from raw foods. It is simple and effective. Joe's change is effective. You could say that he made an effective change that anyone can do. And, by the way, the results are amazing. I have lost 20 pounds. You can do it too. Anyone can. This change is real. I like that it uses raw foods.
@jlang13 ubiquitous high salt, high fat, high sugar foods what else is on the side of the road? Look i'm not saying this isn't going to work out it will work because he is changing his diet dropping his calories and working out, i'm a nutritionist and a trainer and this is what i tell my clients "change your diet stop eating fast food drop your calories and work out" and weeks they loose so much weight the only thing they needs is a hand holding them which is where i come in
@broadcast1010 As your clients become dependent upon you for guidance, your revenue increases. "Hand holding" is in your best interest. One way to increase a client's dependence is to provide vague advice such as "stop eating fast food" and "work out." Their likelihood of succeeding without "Hand holding" might increase if they received inspiration, knowledge, and motivation. Joe's DVD is about $20. That's a good deal.
@jlang13 I do more then just tell them that, every week they get nutritional facts about food, new articles that come out, every day i send them a text talk to them ask them whats going on, i also take the one who looses the most weight out for a nice healthy lunch i do more then just tell them "stop eating fast food" and my revenue is the last thing on my mind and its cheap, and any one can inspire any one to do anything, like i said people just need some one next to them to help them out
the best thing is that after a while of doing this you really see processed food for the junk it is. I used to love junk food. I hate it now. My health is better, my moods are better, and Im only doing 2 juices a day. I still eat. but i eat healthier now. p.s. I had a liver infection that lasted over 6 months. No medicine would get rid of it. I have not had any effects since doing the juice diet 5 weeks ago (cross fingers)
I started Aug 4th. After I watched this on Netflix. Today is day 8 with no exercise and I'm 16lbs lighter. Part of day 3 sucked, cranky, depressed and tried. Day 4 I woke up earlier then I ever have and feeling great. I'm doing 30 days added some cardio to the mix.
End of week two - lost 22 lbs. 78 to go. Would have lost more but I ate too much protein and drank too much fruit - extra sugar and fat I don't need. Feel great - knee surgery from Nov. healing better, rash all over cleared up, energy, motivation, clothes not tight, already look better. And motivating others.
@mjm2005 "just eat high FAT". What? are you serious? the fat you eat is the fat you wear. The reason this guy lost weight is because he was eating low fat, low protein. Most of his calories came from Carbs in the fruit and veggies he was juicing. Stay away from the oils and nuts. Just fruit and veggies guys. Read the book "the China Study' then read "the 80 10 10 diet" by Dr Doug Greham.
@bigamejames1 say that to the four inches I just had taken in on my jeans...which I bought in january.
until then... yes, high fat, moderate protein, low carb. it sounds more ridiculous than it is...i just eat a lot of meat and vegetables cooked in animal fat. and i prefer it oh so much to some silly green shake for every meal... eating like that certainly would not have boosted my testosterone as much as my way has... (and kept my cholesterol low) as per my bloodwork 2 weeks ago
@bigamejames1 Also, there was a calorie restriction study done recently. Each group only ate 1000 calories a day. One group ate carbs, the next protein, the last fat. Read that again... 1000 calories per day.
Guess what happened? The carbs group GAINED weight, the protein group lost a bit, and the fat group lost THE MOST. I don't know about you, but I sometimes eat 1000+ calories PER MEAL, so that would never work for me. Good luck though brah, maybe you'll find enlightenment soon. ;)
@bigamejames1 yeah sure...but by no means am i recommending you eat only 1000 calories a day. it was discussed in tim ferriss's book "four hour work week" among others... it's called the kekwick/pawan study.
honestly, id look into more of a paleo or primal way of eating. you can google those... (or google marks daily apple... or robb wolf).
I thought this would be super hard and I would feel crappy all the time but I have been on the fast for four days and lost 9 pounds!!!! That is the honest to God's truth and I feel great. I changed one thing to make it a little easier. I eat a banana in the morning and fruit Juice mixed with all types of fruit and then Mean Green juice at lunch and afternoon a little more. For dinner some steamed vegetables with nothing on it and more mean green. I have not been hungry, dizzy or tired at all.
Hi Guys! love your film and have been on the detox juicing 15 days now, my fibromyalgia symptoms are vastly improved!!! Down 8 lbs too. Can't help but wonder about all the nutrients I was missing thru the years. Good luck everyone juicing :)
The wife, me and my oldest daughter watched this documentary. I'm 80 lbs overweight, the wife is 100. Daughter is really pretty close to a hardbody. She's just doing the 15 day cleanse. I've weighed in twice and lost a total of 17 lbs in two weeks. My wife lost 14. It's not bad. I really haven't suffered. Giving up the coffee was the hardest. Week three on saturday. I know I've lost quite a bit more. I'm starting to see it. My wife too. This works and it's harmless.
I am not fat and I never thought I would juice. Now I have a juicer and I juice. The movie really made the case for juicing. Join the movement. Start juicing and start feeling better!
Watched my 12 year old Rat Terrier die of a heart attack two weeks ago and it drove home just how real death is. So fast forward to three days ago and I'm at the Dr office for som skin issues and the put me on the scale before see the Dr and I tip the scale at 313 lbs. I get sent off to the little room and while i am waiting I start looking at Netflix on my iPad and Netflix suggest this film "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. I start watching and with the first 5 min I see myself
Awesome and congratulations Joe Cross!!!!! Can't wait to watch the whole movie! Have been preaching raw health benefits/no SAD for 20 years! I haven't been sick in 15 years! No colds, no flus, no, headaches, no sinus, no congestion, nothing, nada - just great health physically and mentally!!!! It all has to do with our foods folks.
Just watched the movie. Was great and I'm so happy for all of you! I am doing it differently ( low carb and running) but I love the change in my energy levels and thinking. Good luck to all of you who are trying the reboot. Good on ya!!
Hi Guys, sorry for the late response to a lot of the great questions and comments here. We have a very small team and are digging out from a ton of wonderful outreach. About the EMBEDDING issue: YouTube has flagged this video for some reason and are preventing it from being embedded. We are working on that. Be sure to join us at JoinTheReboot (dot) com!
I saw it on Netflix last night and it's such a heart felt and inspiring documentary. I very rarely get moved by watching radical weight loss shows but this struck a chord with me. I shall have to do the challenge in improve my life and those around me.
Saw on Netflix and begging my friends to all see it. 12 are coming over Thursday night to see it, drink juice (and eat meatloaf and mashed potatoes - had to get them over some way!).
Accidentally came across the movie last night on Netflix. Started to watch it, didn't stop until 3am this morning. At 9 am, ordered my juicer. At 3pm today, went to Costco and bought all the stuff I will need for when the Juicer arrives on Tuesday. Everything in this movie is common sense and basic knowledge...however we don't listen to our own intellect. Movie is a great kick in the butt. I hope I can keep this going for the 15 days I have committed to this...I hope the word spreads.
Wow, I love to see other people who have come to realize that our food industry is about profit & not our well being! Thks so much for this video now that I've seen the clip Im off to buy it!
I'm a little confused, I joined and took the assessment and was given the 15 day method, but it includes cooking meals? It seemed in the documentary they were juicing for all meals of the day? For up to months at a time? Even looking at the 5 day method includes cooking meals? Are the actual meals an alternative to juicing for a day? Can juice only be used everyday for all meals in that day/week/month?
@isitabirdnoitsaplane the body is just fine for a period of time without fiber. that's what makes juice feasting so powerful, you give your digestive system a break from having to break up fiber, starches, and other solid molecular structures and feed your body unusually high amounts of enzymes, phytonutrients, amino acids, alkalizing salts and other elements that help with detox. this wakes up the rest of your body and tells it to get to work on some major healing.
i saw this movie about 2 weeks ago on netflix, it was really amazing. i have actually decided to go get a juicer today from kmart and hopefully by friday i can go shopping for fruits and veggies. im gonna try this diet and jogging for 1 month and if i see real results like some of the people in the movie, i will continue this diet intil i lose between 50 - 80 pounds. hopefully if i lose my goal weight i will be motivated to lose more.
only problem is that if we ever figure out whats really going on the govt freaks wont like it and they will do crazy shit like chemtrails and lowering standards for organic food/fertilizer/approving more toxic pesticides etc. but thats more of an advanced thought. for now drink up!
Just curious, has anyone tried this? I watched it and it was inspiring, but now I need to buy a juicer. :(

Estrogen dominance s the biggest factor in obesity. it messes up your endocrine system which lowers thyroid function which lowers metabolism
Contributing factors are Fluoride in tap water, pesticides, herbicides, hormones in meats, chemicals in cleaning products, bug sprays, artificial food additives, sugar, wheat, soy, grains, cows dairy, medicines, PCBS, radiation, the pill, alcohol (esp beer),
Time to get back to basics & natural hunter gatherer lifestyles, no more CHEMS!

Okay, okay. I take-back my comment. I knew you probably gave very detailed and great advice. I was just trying to provoke you. I'm a button pusher by nature.

omg people all he does is change his diet and work out... PERIOD! its what people been saying all along its just people don't have the discipline to do it they wait it easy and fast just like there food...eat better and work out and you will loose weight
broadcast1010 6 months ago
@broadcast1010 "Change" is a very broad description of what he did to his diet. I believe he was hooked on ubiquitous high salt, high fat, high sugar foods. He broke this habit by fasting on juice from raw foods. It is simple and effective. Joe's change is effective. You could say that he made an effective change that anyone can do. And, by the way, the results are amazing. I have lost 20 pounds. You can do it too. Anyone can. This change is real. I like that it uses raw foods.
jlang13 6 months ago
@jlang13 ubiquitous high salt, high fat, high sugar foods what else is on the side of the road? Look i'm not saying this isn't going to work out it will work because he is changing his diet dropping his calories and working out, i'm a nutritionist and a trainer and this is what i tell my clients "change your diet stop eating fast food drop your calories and work out" and weeks they loose so much weight the only thing they needs is a hand holding them which is where i come in
broadcast1010 6 months ago
@broadcast1010 As your clients become dependent upon you for guidance, your revenue increases. "Hand holding" is in your best interest. One way to increase a client's dependence is to provide vague advice such as "stop eating fast food" and "work out." Their likelihood of succeeding without "Hand holding" might increase if they received inspiration, knowledge, and motivation. Joe's DVD is about $20. That's a good deal.
jlang13 6 months ago
@jlang13 I do more then just tell them that, every week they get nutritional facts about food, new articles that come out, every day i send them a text talk to them ask them whats going on, i also take the one who looses the most weight out for a nice healthy lunch i do more then just tell them "stop eating fast food" and my revenue is the last thing on my mind and its cheap, and any one can inspire any one to do anything, like i said people just need some one next to them to help them out
broadcast1010 6 months ago
the best thing is that after a while of doing this you really see processed food for the junk it is.

Im not a big girl, I have some fat around my waist, but thats not my problem...
I drink too much coke, and I eat too much junk.
I dont sleep so much, and Im always sick.
I started having these juices once a day, 3 days ago.
I replace one meal... I plan on doing this forever...not only that... since Im not replacing all meals, coca cola has got to go!

as much as I liked the movie, can't help but know its an ad for a Australian company that makes juicers - Breville

@loopba Documentaries like this need funding from SOMEWHERE...better than being an ad for some terrible company.

And motivating others.
taylorkimtaylor 6 months ago 3
@taylorkimtaylor just eat high fat, low carb, moderate protein. food can come from meat, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and oils... avoid bread/pastas...
mjm2005 6 months ago
@mjm2005 "just eat high FAT". What? are you serious? the fat you eat is the fat you wear. The reason this guy lost weight is because he was eating low fat, low protein. Most of his calories came from Carbs in the fruit and veggies he was juicing. Stay away from the oils and nuts. Just fruit and veggies guys. Read the book "the China Study' then read "the 80 10 10 diet" by Dr Doug Greham.
bigamejames1 6 months ago
@bigamejames1 say that to the four inches I just had taken in on my jeans...which I bought in january.
until then... yes, high fat, moderate protein, low carb. it sounds more ridiculous than it is...i just eat a lot of meat and vegetables cooked in animal fat. and i prefer it oh so much to some silly green shake for every meal... eating like that certainly would not have boosted my testosterone as much as my way has... (and kept my cholesterol low) as per my bloodwork 2 weeks ago
mjm2005 6 months ago
@bigamejames1 Also, there was a calorie restriction study done recently. Each group only ate 1000 calories a day. One group ate carbs, the next protein, the last fat. Read that again... 1000 calories per day.
Guess what happened? The carbs group GAINED weight, the protein group lost a bit, and the fat group lost THE MOST. I don't know about you, but I sometimes eat 1000+ calories PER MEAL, so that would never work for me. Good luck though brah, maybe you'll find enlightenment soon. ;)
mjm2005 6 months ago
@mjm2005 can you share the link to the study please? I'd like to have a read, sounds interesting.
bigamejames1 6 months ago
@bigamejames1 yeah sure...but by no means am i recommending you eat only 1000 calories a day. it was discussed in tim ferriss's book "four hour work week" among others... it's called the kekwick/pawan study.
honestly, id look into more of a paleo or primal way of eating. you can google those... (or google marks daily apple... or robb wolf).
mjm2005 6 months ago
@bigamejames1 and oops... by recently, i meant it's been discussed recently...it was done in the 50s. not that it impacts it's validity.
mjm2005 6 months ago
I thought this would be super hard and I would feel crappy all the time but I have been on the fast for four days and lost 9 pounds!!!! That is the honest to God's truth and I feel great. I changed one thing to make it a little easier. I eat a banana in the morning and fruit Juice mixed with all types of fruit and then Mean Green juice at lunch and afternoon a little more. For dinner some steamed vegetables with nothing on it and more mean green. I have not been hungry, dizzy or tired at all.

No colds, no flus, no, headaches, no sinus, no congestion, nothing, nada - just great health physically and mentally!!!! It all has to do with our foods folks.

KingBonacci 7 months ago
@KingBonacci Green juice as much as you want for months at a time. No cooked food, just green juice.

What do they do for fibre if they're only drinking
the juice from veggies?
isitabirdnoitsaplane 7 months ago
@isitabirdnoitsaplane the body is just fine for a period of time without fiber. that's what makes juice feasting so powerful, you give your digestive system a break from having to break up fiber, starches, and other solid molecular structures and feed your body unusually high amounts of enzymes, phytonutrients, amino acids, alkalizing salts and other elements that help with detox. this wakes up the rest of your body and tells it to get to work on some major healing.
