I was 8-10 years old when I had this game, and I'm pretty sure I beat everything on it and enjoyed the game. In fact, I would put it in my top 20 NES games. You obviously had no interest in the game from the word go.

Looks like Knightwing, the reviewer, only played Skate or Die 2 for literally 10 minutes. And even then he only played the ramp mode and totally sucked at the adventure mode. Just the fact he thinks the skater dude in adventure mode has an actual gun just shows how clueless he is. If he was actually able to hit anyone with that gun, it would've been obvious that it was a paintball gun from the paint they rubbed off their faces after you hit them. But hitting them requires that you don't suck.

Dude, you cant play this game nowadays and review it. Any game from twenty years ago does not stack up to whats out today. To appreciate this you had to play it when it was new. I loved everything about this game!!

thats not true at all. maybe skate or die in particular doesnt stand up to like, skate or tony hawk or whatever, but games like contra and mario bros and duck tales etc all stand up and are still fun to this day!

This dude knows what's up. This guy really doesn't look away from the whole "retro" aspect of older games, and when people say retro, they can't look at the game alone. They're constantly comparing it with more successful titles of today, rather than realizing that game designers did the best with what they had. Lame.

I don't even skate but i love video games such as, THPS and all the spin offs, the skate. series and one great overlooked game is Andy MacDonald's Skateboarding for PSX. (probably my personal favorite skating game, recommend everyone reading to check it out.) But i have to disagree with the review, SOD was AMAZING for it's time and once you get used to the controls, you could play it for hours! I still play this game to this day!

I own the Game Boy version of Skate or Die,but I play it on the Game Boy Color,simply because while the old gameboy hides the color,the Game Boy Color shows the color on all of it's games.

Skate Or Die 1 was really good. I grew up with it as a kid. The controls really aren't that bad. I've played the sequel along with Ski Or Die and I didn't care for either of them though. Race was the best level in my opinion. There is a lot of things you can do. Joust and Jam were fun too though.

you're review is totally bogus. both of these games were excellent strategy games of their time. and the guns in skate or die too is a paint gun. without a paint gun you were a poser. plus you could get eggs and knock down shoppers and the security guard chased you. skate or die 2 also had the most extensive and best graphics in its movie sequences. so anyone that reads this review please note that the reviews were too lazy to actually play the game or describe it adequately

Ya bra but you also have to factor in the amount of time you spent playing the game. I remember when i finally got ahold of that game i played for hours on end. Thats was one of my fav games bra. I loved joust but I had the skill to dominate on downhill and never fall. the pipe wasnt as difficult as your making it out to be. but to give a "Review" for a game the conductor has to have a bias opinion. Im not saying your wrong for the rating you gave, but that was your personal opinion.....

Did you know that the second Skate or Die was released by Electronic Arts themselves, with no deal for Ultra/Konami?

Also there was a spinoff--Ski of Die--made around the same time, but this time, through the same parameters as the first Skate or Die.

I liked this game on the c64! But the controls were pretty annoying! Like you've said, the most fun part was the joust! 2/10 sounds a little bit hard, but you've had your own experiences with the game and your rating sounds justified! Thanks for the video, I almost forgot about this game!

Yeah I wasn't very good at Skate or Die probably never will be. The score came from an old Nintendo Power Issue so don't just be mad at me. Nintendo Power gave it a bogus score as well back in the day. I agreed with them.

dude, you aren't nearly good enough at skate or die to pass the judgement you did. Once you actually learn the controls they are way ahead of their time. You didn't even know that the point of the Jam was to beat up the rival skater, not to beat him to the finish. The only shortcoming of the original is the lack of more than one stage per genre and the story mode of skate or die 2 was stupid, but the ramp was freakin badass.
