  • i live in the town were they shot the train statio n

  • Do you know whether any of the four vocal tracks from 'In the heat of the night' ever made it as a single release?

I have the original UA pressing (UK) - It was all about Foul Owl for me.

  • SUPERB

  • Thanks John!

  • One of the best movies and a great song!

  • Talk about groovy, that song is groovy. More groovy than Lady Gaga.

  • ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES EVER like what you done with it

  • Seen it 100 time's! Up to 101 than....

  • no joke dude.

  • No, Jess the mechanic was my uncle.

  • You're joking!

  • Definitely one of the best movies ever - Rod Steiger won the Oscar, the Golden Globe and the BAFTA all for best actor. They were unable to film in the South as, in the sixties, Sidney Poitier would have been at too much risk.

  • and it would be hot... i thought this clip was from 69...owe well maybe i'm a crazy

  • great sound, great era for movies.

  • Heard this song playing in the police car at the beginning of the film this evening and thought 'what a great song' and here it is...talk about groovy!

  • Sure is ...

  • @coolitababy Gil Bernal also did another cool song titled "Can you love a poor boy?" Check it out on You tube :)

  • Thanks. I am so proud that I had a family member in movies. He's gone now but I can remember him through the pictures. This was a great movie!

  • rod was your uncle. wow. loved this movie and the tv series also.

  • one of my favorite movies, can view it

    a hundred times

  • yes! He was my uncle.

  • "What I got runs. Who pays?"

Loved your uncle in this, perfect for the role.

  • Jess the mechanic was my uncle. I'm very proud of this fact.

  • Would that be the actor Khalil Bezaleel? ®

  • @trustratplaya Cool!

  • a typical redneck!!!!

  • I enjoyed requesting this at Del Conte's restaurant in Torrance where singer Gil bernal was the house act for twenty years!

  • Thanks for a great comment!

  • Visited the Train Depot in Sparta last year.Very cool! The diner and Bellamys grocery are long gone.......

  • i jus finished watching this movie for my race class cus i had ta write a film review for it... i take it fer granted but im so glad i dont have to deal with all tha racism compared to back then... aiiiyaa...

  • I love the creepy guy at the diner

  • "Lanky, often greasy-haired and with an oily grin, James specialised in creepy, sleazy villains in films and TV, many of them Westerns (Eastwood's "Unforgiven")."

    Thanks for commenting.

  • and who can forget him as "Cole Carlin" in " High Plains Drifter". "HE SHOT MY EAR OFF!"

  • Great movie. 1:01 - 1:06 Harvey is running

west across the Helena Bridge Rt49 from Mississippi towards Arkansas and his shadow is cast behind him meaning the sun is in the

west and it was mid-late afternoon when they filmed this scene , yet according to the movie

it was early morning and all shadows would be

cast west. (the clock at Sparta Police is

7:23 when they bring Harvey in and Gillespie

tells Tibbs he can still make the 12:00 noon train)

  • Great information!

    Thanks for commenting.

  • Wow it's been years since I've seen this one.

Marlena Shaw did a pretty nice job with this song also.

    Thanks for posting.

  • I'll have to check that version out.

    Thanks for the information.

  • I heard that Sidney didn't even get NOMINATED for this. In my opinion, he MAKES the movie. Is that true?

  • True - Rod Steiger won

    Warren Beatty

    Dustin Hoffman

    Spencer Tracy

    Thanks for commenting.

  • Visited Sparta last year, stayed at a B&B that appears early in the film.Warren Oates drives by it.The train depot was restored and looks great!

  • A classic film. Whose the "it sure is groovy" track by ?

  • Gil Bernal

  • Seen this film umpteen times & every time I see it on the TV listings,I still get so excited. How sad is that ? The sign of a great film, that's how sad!!!!!

  • Got to agree with you there. I'll continue to watch a poor quality broadcast - even though I have the disc.

    Thanks for the comment.

  • my favorite movie of all time right here..

  • Sidney Poitier is a fabulous actor, one of my favorties. In The Heat of The Night is a great movie I'd see over and over again!

shadow.. yes I agree! Of course there is nothing wrong with the book.

  • What do they call you from where you come from. THEY CALL ME MISTER TIBBS! Greatest line ever

  • the best movie ever made,fantastic music-ray charles/quincy jones

  • In B.C. the provincial school board has officially banned the book due to anti-black content.

Wait a minute? Virgil is the only intelligent person in the entire plot. Aside from the historically accurate racial slang, it is a story that mocks racism and promotes acceptance of the individual person without bias and the ability to overcome intolerance to do what is right. Except for the use of the N-word, which is justified, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this book.

    Anyone else agree?

  • I watched this movie in my english class, here's what troubles me how can a movie about a black cop, be antiblack?

  • -coughcough- I went to school in Canada for a month, as reading the book in high school in BC, and they confiscated it for "racial purposes" xP

Tibbs is possibly my favorite protagonist EVER. Anyone else agree?

  • one of the finest movies ever made

  • Love this Movie.

Sidney Poitier is one of my most favorite actors of all time.

    Rob Steiger is also great.
