Thanks for the vid - need to do this to my CPU. I was going to do exactly what your video showed anyway, buuuut I just wanted to make sure that was the proper method before frying anything, lol.
incase you, techharvest guy, have already updated some info in this video.i apologize and i can't find it yet.
ftr people. if you're going to use ANY type of alcohol to help remove thermal paste. THE CLOSER to 100% THE BETTER..why? simple. less chance of any of the alcoholic residue on a microscopic level REMAINING on the cpu as you are apply the new thermal paste. you don't want any more additives on your cpu as possible. cheers
Uhhhh.... just asking: if you are using paper towel (or whatever you called it), will the friction on the towel / dabs produce any static electric? I am worried. I have a very expensive intel i7 1155 processor (its like my precious brain). Thanks!
@deadly1010P The key thing is that you should never get your motherboard wet. As long as you didn't dribble anything on the mobo, you're probably in the clear. Nail polish remover might be a bit strong so I wouldn't use it, but I doubt you did any damage.
I prefer 91% isopropyl alchohol. Can get a bottle at walmart for like $2

somehow I was really hoping to see how you scream endlessly "omg" after you spilled the bottle of alcohol all over the mobo.

can you just use a Qtip? I dont have any rubbing alcohol.
killkidnumber1 1 month ago
@killkidnumber1 It's best to clean it off as much as possible. If you can accomplish that with a Q-Tip, then it's fine.

LOl in the vid when you were putting the qtip in the bottle tht would have sucked if u like flinched and it spilled all ovver youre mobo

@chronofusion Thanks, I found that surprisingly helpful. Also, I saw the Chris Pirillo comment on your channel. I honestly couldn't agree more.
