The NY ferries "helped out"? The NY ferries rescued almost ALL the people, except for 25 people, which the NY City Fire Dept boat took. For seven minutes, the only boats you see around the plane are New York Waterways ferries. BTW, it's not the fault of the Coast Guard, or NYC police and fire. The ferries work that corridor all day long, so they were right there.

I do not think I said that men were pushing anyone out of the way. I clearly stated if you would have bothered to read that when the ferry boat came to the plane, ...the captain yelled out to the survivors he only wanted women on his boat !!!
"Women and children first" is because children need help physically and instinctively, and women generally lack upper body strength. So if anyone statistically has a better chance to help others out and survive, it's the men.
And yes, welcome to 2009, where "men" like you rush to be first out of the fire, crushing people ahead of you, only to end up dead anyways because you blocked your way out.

Did you see the interview with the young guy who panicked and stripped to his underpants, thinking he was going to have to swim? He then jumped over the seats ahead of the line, and later the others had to embrace him to keep him warm. He didn't even look embarrassed during the interview. I wonder if he is now. Even I know you can use jeans as a flotation device. I do laundry :D
