Not gonna lie, I was very disappointed when I first heard this record, but now I love it! The hammering drums by Shawn, twin guitar attacks by Dave and Chris, the bass by Junior (though I wish you could hear it more in this song), to Dave's classic vocals.
I'm happy Megadeth redeemed themselves because I hated Cryptic Writings, Risk, and The World Needs A Hero, and Youthanasia was inconsistent. System brought them back on track in my opinion. Maybe the hiatus was the right thing for them.
@crazybaseballdude12 IMO Cryptic writing and Risk are not that bad, they aren't rellay metal but they are decent records, especially criptic writings. And youthanasia IMO is a fantastic record.

Too bad the only song from it that they play live is À Tout Le Monde, would be awesome if they'd play more stuff from Youthanasia. Train of Consequences and Killing Road are classics and at least Victory would be thrashy enough to play it live IMO.
@pm2595 I didn't hate Youthanasia. In fact, I actually own it. It just didn't sink in like some of their other records. My problem with CW, Risk, and TWNAH is that they didn't reach my "wow factor" (especially Risk). They just lacked something that I can't put my finger on. I believe they stepped up their game big time with TSHF and can say that they easily rank above Slayer, Anthrax, and Metallica.
Countdown is still my favorite release by them though. It's extremely addicting.

Though I love Metallica, they try too hard to have extreme lyrics : Judas Kiss, My Apocalypse. They are 50 year old men now, their lyrics dont mean anything anymore. Its just that they sound good. Megadeth though, with each new album, Mustaine's lyrics grow stronger. He tries to reveal the evil of the world. And with every replacement, they get stronger and more close to perfection. The best part though, is that Mustaine is a new man. Im a new fan of Megadeth but i can say they are my favorite.

Every time the solo kicks in, I completely ignore it and focus on Dave's playing. Such a good guitarist and such an AMAZING rythmn player. I try to listen to the solo, but Davey get me errrvery time XD

Not gonna lie, I was very disappointed when I first heard this record, but now I love it! The hammering drums by Shawn, twin guitar attacks by Dave and Chris, the bass by Junior (though I wish you could hear it more in this song), to Dave's classic vocals.
I'm happy Megadeth redeemed themselves because I hated Cryptic Writings, Risk, and The World Needs A Hero, and Youthanasia was inconsistent. System brought them back on track in my opinion. Maybe the hiatus was the right thing for them.

@pm2595 I didn't hate Youthanasia. In fact, I actually own it. It just didn't sink in like some of their other records. My problem with CW, Risk, and TWNAH is that they didn't reach my "wow factor" (especially Risk). They just lacked something that I can't put my finger on. I believe they stepped up their game big time with TSHF and can say that they easily rank above Slayer, Anthrax, and Metallica.
Countdown is still my favorite release by them though. It's extremely addicting.

He varied the style, and the change wasn't exactly what was wanted. So, yeah. The lack of the, as you put it, "Wow factor" is understandable, and I agree.

Though I love Metallica, they try too hard to have extreme lyrics : Judas Kiss, My Apocalypse. They are 50 year old men now, their lyrics dont mean anything anymore. Its just that they sound good. Megadeth though, with each new album, Mustaine's lyrics grow stronger. He tries to reveal the evil of the world. And with every replacement, they get stronger and more close to perfection. The best part though, is that Mustaine is a new man. Im a new fan of Megadeth but i can say they are my favorite.
