The old cartoon is great, the uploading is priceless for all of us (THANK U VERY MUCH! ) and the annotations are ALL-PRO ! ; congratulations, my friend !
This wonderful satire of the three greatest "crooners" (then in 1932) would have been lost, even on the new generation that first watched this cartoon when first was released to televisions in 1957. If Russ Colombo had not tragically died in a (stupid) shooting accident at 26 in 1934 (much like Jon Eric Hexum exactly half a century later) he might have been a super star on the same plane as Bing Crosby.
Mind blowing little cartoon. The dancing flames, the tree in his BVDS, the Chief who looks like WC Fields(or Squidward), and the opening credits with Get Happy made me think Judy might appear(it was a few years before her time). The Animaniacs may have been in here if they hadn't been put in the WB water tower already.
All three were great in there day. I love how the early radio had to have an aerial to play.......This cartoon would not be political correct today but it is fun and in time with the time it was made......
Dad likes Bing Crosby, but he really Likes Frank Sinatra. I like both too, in fact I have Bing Crosby Christmas songs on my ipod. My favorite ones are "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "Jingle Bells". Especially "Jingle Bells", it's really funny when Bing quickly goes: "Oh we have a lotta fun!". Here's a bit of history: Crosby was nicknamed Bing because he liked to eat Bing cherries. Say, anyone remember the Sinatra cameo in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit"? Hint: "Wicked Witchcraft".
loads of water that the Indians out of the world had to be so primitive? our neighbors, the Andean Indians are absurdly developed, whatever, sometimes I am ashamed to be caboclo but these Indians of North America are very cool, I love them.
Sad ho0w none of these folk..----npt even Crosby, --- have been considered jazz in jazz until Mr.Gary Giddins, Mr.Will Friedwald (who's also, with Mr.Jerry Beck, behind some important Warner Bros.,animation books..) and others have stepped forth..of course NOBODY's gonna EVER confuse Mr.Rudy Vallee, or even Crosby imitator uss Columbo for jazz, then as now!
Oh, I don't know. Compared with the garbage in popular music today. All three of these guys, Crosby, Columbo & Vallee, could sing circles around anybody! Given a decent piece of material these guys could hold their own anytime!
Yea, I agree. I actually also QUITE enjoy Russ Columbo..BTW many don't know it, of course, but in the FORTIES Perry Como could actually sing with a jazzy rhytm [when he's paired with a regular staple of his records and radio shows known as "The Satistfiers"--"Chi Baba Baba" and "A Hubba Hubba Hubba"---so who said' Perry's just osme squaer than square guy?!:))

@Mr76Yearsago As much of a music and film buff I am, I have never heard of Russ Columbo. How would our generation be able to research this?

That's what I always do! In fact, I'm on IBDB before asking for the cartoons here. I bookmark them in chronological order.

Crosby imitator?!?! Please, enjoy the music. Who knows where Columbo could have gone, had he had a full life as the other two did.

Oh, this is great stuff! This is why I love youtube - there is a vast amount of historical footage that otherwise would be lost.

There's an empty text box at 2:30 after the spider makes the antennae connector.
P.S. My mother's father sold shoes, too.
jgbennie 3 years ago
Put your cursor over the box and see what happens.
P.S. But was your maternal grandfather DEADLY?
deadlyshoesalesman 3 years ago
Oh, OK. Thanks.
And, no, my grandfather is dead, not deadly.
I know another guy who owns a shoe store, but he's not deadly. Just gay.

@deadlyshoesalesman They (the Big Six major film studios) just don't make cartoons like this anymore.
