If you still have your old dead SNES, you could swap cases fairly easily. You may need to pick up a nintendo security bit, but they are about 5 bucks on ebay. The yellowing comes from the bromine compound used in the plastics to make them fire retardant. It reacts badly (yellowing) to heat and UV light.
