  • nice movie my grandad was a member of the luftwaffe he flew as a radioman in a ju-88 a-4 and went down because the aircraft landed at an itallian airbase to refuel and they put sand in the fueltank the plane went down but he survived then he was sent to an airbase in holland for fighter pilot training he flew 2 messerschmitts and both crashed due to maintanance problems then the base was invaded by us brits he was sent to england as a prisoner when the war ended he was set free to live his life.

  • great work on making this video! Thank you!

  • it is il 2 1946 ? i have this game

  • JewSA is finish now.Hitler warned the yankees about jews. The jewisg propagande told them it was fun; It was not. Now the jews are building concentrations camps for the Yankees if the oppose them, and will kill them as they did with 43 millions Christian Russina in the USSR.14!88!

  • Well made. I also read this book in Grade School. A Uncle gave me the book.

  • The last IL-2 I played was Forgotten Battles, are there new ones? Does anyone still play? The original and FB where the best flight sims I've ever played.

  • @Airphel Yes, we are here still flying, IL-2 1946 version. Updates are available or game can you can find sim on ebay for about $15. Join HyperLobby to find were to fly.

    Cheers !

  • ME 109 magnific figther,but i prefer focke-wulf 190.

  • @SuperNoname17 Same here. It is strange however, that so many aces seemed to have come from the 109. The Germans wasted to much time & money trying to develop too many different planes. The US Is kinda guilty of that too.

  • Amazing work!

  • Very good indeed! My only complaint is that the pilot was wearing ray bans rather than goggles

  • @Poopingbotham They look like repo Neitche & Gunther goggles. Germans issues dozens of goggles of various designs during the war.

  • I like the part in the book where his plane's going down under a thunderbolt's guns and he starts to get out, but there's so much ammunition going by him that he has to get back in, to get behind the armor plate.

  • Thanks so much for making this video. I read the book just recently... I think I'll read it many times again.

Can you do some more of this?

  • Knoke was a great man. Ive read his book million times

  • This is really good, keep up the good work. =)

  • Its a sad statement when the things you find on youtube are both more accurate, and more interesting than the garbage being puked into theaters by Hollywood these days. Well sad for Hollywood, good for you. Thumbs up.

  • This movie is awsom, i enjoyed it verry muth thank you.

  • thats the music from cod 4

  • Excellent, very well done, I'm building a 1:32 scale Bf109F at the minute and it's great to see 109s in action

  • yes i prefer this kind of simple work to a n holywood production , simply because there is no drama . just facts

  • great video...

  • ...he was lucky, not shot to death at the parachute by the cowardly yankees....

  • Excellent Film! Cheers

  • again brothers in arms music ;D nice vid

  • well ... i am impressed... get goosepimples while watching - this has nothing to do wiht glorifying nazis - this is what a young 22year man is doing when he is in the middle of this kind of action. we all can talk easy from our point of viewe...

    Horridoo

  • Superb work well done !!

  • to the creators of this short film may your talents expand

  • I first read his book when I was ten years old in 1965...my bookreport horrified the nuns in Catholic school... reread the book in early 1993... called Heinz Knoke on the phone and was surprised to actually connect to him in Bad Iburg.. he said in perfect English " We were just boys doing our job " ...I sent him the Time-Life reprinted hardcover book and have it signed by him, Heinz Knoke ... he died two months later... his wife Lilo sold the house in Bad Iburg and moved in withone of her kids.

  • @rjwintl Great reply! thanks for sharring!

  • Do you know if her is still alive and where is she living ? How,where and with who could I know any informations more about him and her ?

  • Very very well done!

  • I loved it. Please make more narrated vid like this i'd love to see more. Thanks for making it you truely made brilliant short movie

  • true work of art this movie.

  • I hate to hear everyone crying about making this about a nazi,he was a soldier and thats that,I also think Stalin was 100 times worse then the nazi's.the biggest concentration camp during ww2 was in siberia and millons of people died there but i guess thats ok because he was a allie

  • I actually read that book... I liked the part where he gets shot down by a thunderbolt and he's bailing out but there're so many bullets going past, that he has to get back in! Right after the war, he can't believe the atrocities he's hearing about and lays the blame on 'a few bad men around Hitler'; thinks they should be turned over to the good German soldiers, lol. But later he accepts the truth and writes "We must take resposibility for the past- and the future."

  • fucking incredable great job luv the history !

  • see this is y i dont like germans

  • very cool i love history

  • wish this was a Game. the grathics are fab

  • @terryjohn Its IS a game, this was made with IL2:1946 the PC flight simulator. Its incredible, even though its old now.

  • Thank you VERY much! Well done .... what can i say?

  • ...party had been forbidden in 1952 at german highest court. for beeing a fascist and racist party. its pretty sad that he never realised how senseless this all was.

  • @rantanplan178 I was not aware of this....thanks for info..but this movie is meant to be non-political and do not glorify any political party. This is purely about a young man who fought as a pilot in a sensless war on the wrong side....he just did his duty and I am sure was that he was not aware of nazi atrocities at the time during the war. The book is very well written and a good account of what went through the German pilots minds during the last horrible years of the war.

  • @biltongbru

are you talking about the book he wrote about himself?

i can not say whether he knew about all the atrocities. btw what is an atrocity? is it just killing people or to put them in concentration camps. or is it enough to arrest everybody from same religion and give all their stuff away. if you think the third example is enough then i have to say that all germans knew that. they knew that their neighbors were arrested somewhere and their houses suddenly belong to local ...

  • @biltongbru

... celebreties like nsdap offical or wermacht officers or moviestars a.s.o.

another thing to know is pilots of the german airforce could see the concentration camps from above...

the point is he (knoke) never thought that he fights in a senseless war on the wrong side. not in and not after the war. and when you make a film about him its very important to have these information in the film. he was a very skilled pilot and he saw his friends dying so he saw the face of war ...

  • @biltongbru

... in all its brutality but he was a nazi too. you could had made a film about some other skilled pilot of the german luftwaffe who's not a nazi but you choose knoke. and for me that is interesting. actually i just think making videos about nazis to glorify them is not helpful even when you did not know about them.

  • @biltongbru take no notice of these trolls.enjoy life; you are what you are.not what they think you shud be.

    keep the great work up.

  • @terryjohn

who is a troll? Those one's who'll never stop glorifying nazi soldiers like "wittmann", "rudel" or "peiper".

or the ones who'll never stop to criticize it.

  • @rantanplan178 WHAT! Nazis....ignorant..- minds are closed....Good an bad..in All armys.

    you never learned a lot..

  • @rantanplan178 oh-The Pope his a Nazi then..so his Hardy Kruger....people who .go on after 65 years are real boring............

  • @biltongbru The postscript showed that he couldn't accept that Hitler was bad, instead blaming his coterie. But the edition I read carried a second postscript he'd written forty years or so later that I liked: he wrote of 'taking responsibility for the past... and the future'. It's nice that he, and Germany, had the strength of character to face up to what they'd done, and look to make sure it never happens again.

  • Is too easy to blame the Germany by the WWII,but if you really want who begin the hostilities you should look the headlines of the newspapers and the magazines just a few days ahead of Hitler's election, specially the Daily Telegraph edition of 1933,March 24. I think that you'll gave a little surprise.

  • A little correction here: the right words are "I think that you'll have a little surprise".

    Sorry by my mistake.

  • @rantanplan178 thanks for the history lesson.it's 2011- not 1911 who cares

  • @terryjohn

    1911??????

  • @rantanplan178 your old..believes..it's 2011 not 1911-.soon 2021. forget the past.

  • @terryjohn

WHAT??? forget the past? forget the nazis or what do you want me to think?

  • @rantanplan178 yes..i hate them.. but no good keep delging in to the past.70 years ago...

  • @terryjohn

please, write in whole sentences. it's really hard to understand what you are talking about and what is delging? you are teenager from the netherlands, right?

  • @rantanplan178 Pardon?

  • @terryjohn

    omfg

  • @rantanplan178 Pardon. don't understand..

  • @terryjohn

    lumbula bumanga vrylömos

  • @rantanplan178 sorry pardon,

  • @rantanplan178 try spellin better then we all get the messege.lol

  • dramatic and thrilling movie well done. in reality i think its noch that "thrilling" rather then fearing for the most members of this war. anyhow good to see.

but you lost one fact. knoke really flies for the fuehrer and he didn't stop to live for the fuehrer after the war. he never realized how bad the war and the fascists were. so in 1949 he were a memeber of an new nationalist party called srp which means socialist reich party and this...

  • whos the narrator? You?

  • Excellent work. Please keep posting more like this!!

  • Damn! This is great work...Now I would love to see the P-51Ds animated like this...

  • very very good..now we live in peace..thank god...thanks for posting

  • Very well researched. Amazing what can be accomplished on computers with some effort and know-how. It is a true shame that both sides had to pay with so much blood and treasure, but it is an interesting glimpse into the 'other side' of things. In the fraternity of combat pilots many old enemies became close friends after the war. When you take away the national insignias, a combat pilot is a combat pilot. They often have more in common with each other than with their fellow countrymen.

  • @maxsmodels agree with you and thanks for this reply!

  • @maxsmodels Well said

  • Thanks for the good works. its the film you made about the tank and the tempest that got me to IL-2.

    so thanks for that too

  • excellent! absolutely excellent work. political and idealogy aside,we must all respect these pilots who fought and even died for their country. my salute to Heinz Knoke from an american. i know for a fact, that many young germans of today, simply don't understand.

  • @priler Thanks priler!

  • @priler dude they are racists and does not stand for freedom so why would u salute them?

  • @TheDastan96

Why would you think all germans in ww2 were racist?

  • @razortec Well because they joined the army and i know ur going to say: they had no choise but if they stand for mankind and freedom they should AWOL.

  • @TheDastan96 as a Airmen..

  • somebody give this man a cookie!!!!

  • Very good job!

  • To say that this is fantastic just doesn't seem to do the film or your work justice; interesting to get a view from the other side! Very well made & presented...if you don't work in film, then you should....why hasn't MGM etc come knocking on your door???

    Or have they LOL?!

    Have a good one, cheers.

  • perfect!

  • Top work guys!!!

  • Very nice to see the notes at the end, espec about the poor bomber crews. Added a human element to the events depicted.

Overall I thought this was great.

Thought I spotted a couple of minor paintscheme inconsistencies (Us insignia, Hi Vis tail markings, mixed 109 Staffeln)but that's just cos I'm making a campaign on a very similar theme right now. Enlist a skinner for your next job and get things dead right. RDDR and Casey1976 are great to work with.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to make it!
