Stop being a fucking faggot ass fan boy yourself here people. Just cause a camera is better because of its features doesn't mean it was the brand that was better, it was the over all camera.
Okay, wtf...in the noise comparison @ 6:44 ...the painting is rendered entirely different by both cameras. The Canon is portraying the figure as RED-ish and the Nikon is straight-up ORANGE. The center/chest area is like an OFF-WHITE/BEIGE on the Canon and it's YELLOW on the Nikon...and @ 6:53 each camera renders the dude's beard distinctively different as well as the skin tone (RED vs ORANGE). WTF! That's a huge difference. Which one is giving an accurate representation of the true colors? =/
@XaiQ 6fps. rather, its not consistent. as well as ive been using it for school, and save times for 16gb sd card class 10 seem to slow down as of late, as well as the switch from viewfinder to lcd screen. maybe needs some cleaning but the shutter speed is much slower than you might think 6fps sounds. definitely not for sports. good iso grain reduction. bad AF at night. contradictory incidentally.

@MrRebelxs not entirely, the 60D is a semi pro as considered by Canon and not the the entry level that you are describing it to be. I wont even reply to the menu system of canon being better as nikon as doing so would be a great sign of fanboyism. what I will say is this, try shooting with both while chaning setting like ISO , etc.
@jvgeli I think you haven't tried that yet on Canon... but like said before.. no point in banging the head. I too have used Nikon and Canon compared and selected the one that suited me. I have had rarely any trouble changing settings one-handed on Canon.
Comments on menu system is not fanboyisms as you are saying. It is about practicality.
Also, Canon has started clubbing 60D with the sales of 600D & 550D since months whereas 7D is still sold as a pure semipro.

ok.dew if you have a canon or nikon that does not mean you have the best cameras or the best results....are the skills your own skills and nothing alse.if you use nikon you are a nikon owner,,if you have a canon you are a canon owner...
@fiurer123 has nothing to do with the camera but the lenses. In the old times Canon focuses faster that is why the pro bought the Canon's. Now they are even the pros wont move to Nikon as they have already invested in their lenses. Also, canon sponsors the football league and some other sporting events, way more than nikon does.
@ozstriker1984 The 60 D... if you listened quite closely... is a step down from the 50 D... The 50 D because the 50 D is a full magnesium alloy body but the 60 D is not. And for a body that is a step down my friend... although the 60D is robust and still able to take a few bumps... the 50 D is still more grand to hold because of its magnesium alloy body. cheers! ^^
@ozstriker1984 You were asking why it is a step down from the 50 D... That is the answer. Losing the magnesium alloy body made it inferior. In terms of features, Kai never said the 60D is inferior.
@ozstriker1984 if you mean Image quality, you cant tell the difference. nowadays image quality is not a factor as it was in the 90's as they are relatively the same. The question now if more on ergonomics, ease of use and nikon takes that prize (dual dial and intuitive placement of buttons). Although in video canon is better (its what they do best, video). In dynamic range however Nikon may also lead by a small margin as they use the Sony sensor which is relatively better than the Canon made one
Once again this shows that people go for brand names, and forget the art of photography is up to the individual's ability to imagine and compose.
BUt if you have to go for brands, instead of photgraphy skill, a better review would be to get a dslr from all companies- nikon D7000, Canon 60D, Pentax K-5, Sony alpha (not sure equivalent level model). Then you'd find out which is the better camera, not just a popularity contest between Kai favourites.
so you are saying that the cameras are close to each other in picture quality and the canon has better video then nikon and it costs less then the nikon ...so i think that i'll go with the 60d
60D, buttons are great, you're just a wimp, Nikon is cramped and costs a lot more than Canon and I really can't Asston Kucher or whatever his name is, yes, I'm serious, my decision did take that non-talent dork in to account.
I love these comparisons and the comments... No matter what camera you buy: you are the one taking the pictures and they are damn close to each other anyway. And the best camera is the one that you have with you... and btw: Nikon has the better camera :D ...... Just kidding ;)
I would have thought the 7D would be more like the D7000 due the the magnesium construction of both and the shutter speeds. The 60D really isnt in the class of the 2.
so funny if you own nikon they say nikon wins! if your canon user they say canon wins! btw i am canon user but camera is just a tool it depends to user how creative is he/she
My parents bought me the d7000 about 4 days ago. All I can say for this camera has already been said by millions - great performance, really fast, and extremely lightweight.
I've bought a 50mm f1.8D to start with the camera, because It's a great lens, razor sharp, and super cheap. It all costed me about 1200 euros.
I highly recommend this camera to everybody, you won't regret a thing! So happy to have it as my first DSLR!
I use to shoot Nikon until I have all of my equipment stolen out of my car. I had to start all over. I love the 60D. It was my primary for over a year, now I use the 5d Mark II but still always carry my 60D for back up or if my arms are tired from a full day of shooting with my 5d Mark II. The video is A LOT better than the D7000. Plus lightweight = awesome and it is very rugged. A groom knocked mine out of my hands and it fell on marble tile, still works. The 60D is simply misunderstood.
Tbh I don't know why Canon took the mag alloy body out, it just seems they've gone back a step. Also if it were'nt for the vari angle screen they could of separated the dial and the joy stick.
I'm a canon person and have the 60D, but I admit D7000 has some better features - consider launch time. But this guy doesn't seem to give any relevant information that others have done in a much better manor!
When you make a comparison be neutral and tell the facts.
And please define what the hell you mean by image quality as - how I'm seeing it - you have told much about it in the comparison!
@jesp9651 The difference in image quality? Well I can explain that one for you. The D7000 is easily a good stop better in terms of noise control when compared to the Canon.
@Alpinexpress Yes, there is a difference. But they each have their own qualities. I'm planning on etting the d7000. The Picture quality is better. I'm also going to be shooting short films, but I don't need amazing quality. Definitely go for the D7000, but if you have more cash to spend, then go for the amped up 7D which I would get if I had more money.
@Alpinexpress Well as my last camera was OM10 film camera (ask your dad), I went for the Nikon. My reasoning was the focus points, metal body and with the Nikon (call me a cheap skate if you like) you can put old lenses on unlike the Canon. So ebay old and cheaper lenses here I come!
@Alpinexpress Then it is probably more cost effective to get the Cannon. I recently got the D7000, but then again I owned the D3000 before that, so I accumulated a bunch of Nikon gear.
Personal preference is what it really comes down to.
@MrThunderfish24 Which one do you think is better for first DSLR? I was going to get the 7D but the CF Cards are not my still. I like the Articulated screen on the 60d but I just feel like I'll like the D7000 more. I'm also going to be using them for short films here and there. So which one? I will be using the camera for photos 95% of the time.
@BlubberOwl For a first SLR I would suggest going to a place where you can actually demo the cameras and see which one you like. All three of them have their strong points, and I doubt you would be disappointed with any of them.
I'm sorry I can't give a better answer than that, getting the first slr is always the toughest one to decide.
@MrThunderfish24 Well, I've been using SLRs for about a year now, but I never had one for myself to test and actually go through setting and stuff. I just grab one, set it, shoot, upload and done lol.
But I've narrowed my choices down to the Canon 60D, Nikon D7000, and Pentax K-5.
But I've just decided to go with the D7000.
Now I just need a small lens, I'd like to use the kit lens and wide angle (Manual Zoom and Focus) Lens. Anything from f/1.4 to f/1.6 as the lowest aperture.
@BlubberOwl I've used the D7000 with the 18-105 kit lens, 50 mm f/1.4, and 24 mm f/1.4. I wanted to be able to get good shots with low ISO... and often my subjects are 4-6 feet away. I found myself still backing up with the 50 to get pics of my friends across the table from me, and they still had to put their heads together. I use the 24 mm all the time now, as I'm able to get more in frame and not use flash. The lens is twice that of the D7000 body, but it's a lens I'll always use.
@g2croq Oh no no no lol I cannot afford to spend that much money on a lens. And i decided to go with the D90. It's an old model, but it has all the features I want for a decent price. The D7000, is absolutely amazing, but if I don't need the latest and greatest, I need a great well known camera. lol
But I focus and zoom a lot, so I'll get the 24mm (MAYBE) sometime in a year or so lol Cameras and lenses never go out of style. It's the new products that people think are SO MUCH BETTER lol
For sports and wildlife get the Canon. The Nikon has 6fps but can only hold 10 RAW or 22 JPEG then buffers down to a shot every 2 seconds. Canon has a 16 or 54 capacity with a half second buffer. And did I mention the canon is cheaper and can use 'L' glass.
@in80sblues Battery is 50% larger, and the 2 SD slots is for separate RAW and JPEG recording at the same time, doesn't make it any faster. I'm not knocking the Nikon, as a matter of fact for portrait and low light photography is surpasses the Canon. I'm just pointing out what the video didn't.
@in80sblues The Nikon has 2 slots in order to record RAW files to one and JPEG files to the other while shooting, doesn't make it faster. And the battery is larger so of course it lasts longer. I'm not knocking Nikon. I think as a low light and portrait camera it surpasses the Canon. I'm just trying to point out what the video didn't. Matter of fact I think the Pentax K5 should be part of this review as it is in the same class and honestly out preforms both of them.
"Oh he picked the nikon, he must be a fanboy"
No, the nikon is just better...IN HIS OPINION.....just cause he picked one cause he liked hte way it was, was cause he liked the CAMERA, not he brand. how much capacity can hold each SDcard in the Nikon D7000?

@beardguy45 Depends which SD card you buy. 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB etc.

should used similar lens for comparison. i think he used nikkor 50mm 1.4G on the d7000 and a sigma lens on the 60d.

I would have thought the 7D would be more like the D7000 due the the magnesium construction of both and the shutter speeds. The 60D really isnt in the class of the 2.

Why would you buy a Nikon?
lsi624 2 months ago
Tbh I don't know why Canon took the mag alloy body out, it just seems they've gone back a step. Also if it were'nt for the vari angle screen they could of separated the dial and the joy stick.
97adhib 2 months ago
It's not the question, what's better...you can shoot with a canon 450D or a Nikon D3000, the ideas are the pictures and not the camera.
Go and buy a D3x and make pictures. They won't be "better" than pictures you made with your D90...

Too bad I can get a 60D for 1/2 the price of the Nikon, anyways Nikons are too small.

OMG, is his head full of magnesium?
I'm a canon person and have the 60D, but I admit D7000 has some better features - consider launch time. But this guy doesn't seem to give any relevant information that others have done in a much better manor!
When you make a comparison be neutral and tell the facts.
And please define what the hell you mean by image quality as - how I'm seeing it - you have told much about it in the comparison!
jesp9651 2 months ago
@jesp9651 The difference in image quality? Well I can explain that one for you. The D7000 is easily a good stop better in terms of noise control when compared to the Canon.
nemesis3001 2 months ago
@nemesis3001 I might also add that the D7000 also has a higher dynamic range.

I'm having an uber hard time deciding which one to get... do you think the canon's video performance is really noticeably better than the nikons?
Alpinexpress 2 months ago
@Alpinexpress Yes, there is a difference. But they each have their own qualities. I'm planning on etting the d7000. The Picture quality is better. I'm also going to be shooting short films, but I don't need amazing quality. Definitely go for the D7000, but if you have more cash to spend, then go for the amped up 7D which I would get if I had more money.
BlubberOwl 2 months ago
@Alpinexpress Well as my last camera was OM10 film camera (ask your dad), I went for the Nikon. My reasoning was the focus points, metal body and with the Nikon (call me a cheap skate if you like) you can put old lenses on unlike the Canon. So ebay old and cheaper lenses here I come!
alvaskins 2 months ago
@Alpinexpress What do you have currently or would this be the first slr you own?
MrThunderfish24 2 months ago
@MrThunderfish24 I have a Canon Rebel Ti1... and I'm way overdue on an upgrade haha
Alpinexpress 2 months ago
@Alpinexpress Then it is probably more cost effective to get the Cannon. I recently got the D7000, but then again I owned the D3000 before that, so I accumulated a bunch of Nikon gear.
Personal preference is what it really comes down to.
MrThunderfish24 2 months ago
@MrThunderfish24 Which one do you think is better for first DSLR? I was going to get the 7D but the CF Cards are not my still. I like the Articulated screen on the 60d but I just feel like I'll like the D7000 more. I'm also going to be using them for short films here and there. So which one? I will be using the camera for photos 95% of the time.
BlubberOwl 2 months ago
@BlubberOwl For a first SLR I would suggest going to a place where you can actually demo the cameras and see which one you like. All three of them have their strong points, and I doubt you would be disappointed with any of them.
I'm sorry I can't give a better answer than that, getting the first slr is always the toughest one to decide.
MrThunderfish24 2 months ago
@MrThunderfish24 Well, I've been using SLRs for about a year now, but I never had one for myself to test and actually go through setting and stuff. I just grab one, set it, shoot, upload and done lol.
But I've narrowed my choices down to the Canon 60D, Nikon D7000, and Pentax K-5.
But I've just decided to go with the D7000.
Now I just need a small lens, I'd like to use the kit lens and wide angle (Manual Zoom and Focus) Lens. Anything from f/1.4 to f/1.6 as the lowest aperture.
Suggestions?
BlubberOwl 2 months ago
@BlubberOwl The only wide aperture lens I own is the Nikon 35mm f/1.8, I'm looking to get more. But it works superbly with my D7000
That and their 50mm f/1.8 and f/1.4 are supposed to be really good as well
MrThunderfish24 2 months ago
@MrThunderfish24 Awesome, I'll opt in for the 35 f1.8. Or maybe something more versatile with normal zoom and focus rings.
Do you know any stores that let the buyer try lenses before buying?
BlubberOwl 2 months ago
@BlubberOwl I've used the D7000 with the 18-105 kit lens, 50 mm f/1.4, and 24 mm f/1.4. I wanted to be able to get good shots with low ISO... and often my subjects are 4-6 feet away. I found myself still backing up with the 50 to get pics of my friends across the table from me, and they still had to put their heads together. I use the 24 mm all the time now, as I'm able to get more in frame and not use flash. The lens is twice that of the D7000 body, but it's a lens I'll always use.
g2croq 2 months ago

And did I mention the canon is cheaper and can use 'L' glass.
jondafurb 2 months ago 9
this why Nikon has 2 card slots and battery last 50% more..
in80sblues 2 months ago
@in80sblues Battery is 50% larger, and the 2 SD slots is for separate RAW and JPEG recording at the same time, doesn't make it any faster. I'm not knocking the Nikon, as a matter of fact for portrait and low light photography is surpasses the Canon. I'm just pointing out what the video didn't.
jondafurb 2 months ago
@in80sblues The Nikon has 2 slots in order to record RAW files to one and JPEG files to the other while shooting, doesn't make it faster. And the battery is larger so of course it lasts longer. I'm not knocking Nikon. I think as a low light and portrait camera it surpasses the Canon. I'm just trying to point out what the video didn't. Matter of fact I think the Pentax K5 should be part of this review as it is in the same class and honestly out preforms both of them.
jondafurb 2 months ago
@jondafurb The nikon can use FX lenses as well.
