  • No offence but the livery on one of the locomotives, at least, are historically inaccurate.

  • Cracking Video clip Martyn. Lovely music. Very enjoyable to watch as always.

  • Thanks David. Your excellent steam & music videos were my inspiration to give this a try,

  • why was there numbers on front of the stainer black 5.

  • the LMS had smokebox numbers instead of the other railways in the 'Big 4' with there numbers on the bufferbeam

also the loco is normally in BR livery, where all locos that were owned by BR had a smokebox number plate, i hope this helps

  • I presume you mean the 1Z15 chalked on the smokebox door. If so then it's a "train reporting number" or "headcode" which all mainline trains have but no longer display on the front, and the fact that it's chalked on is probably to give the loco a run down wartime look.

  • Many Black 5s and some Western Engines had headcodes in chalk as an alternative to wearing headboards, were as the GWR/WR were the only ones to use headcode boards.

  • Wow! Excellent film material here! All the shots of all the extras (wartime civilianss and soldiers) and locos! Very impressive music you added too, I really need to research the old wartime films such as Battle of Britain and A Bridge Too Far!

    Very nice work Martyn.
