The 350z did exactly what the larger displacement engine should do....pull away right off the line. The TT 3.0L VG engine takes a bit to spool up and once under full boost....the forced induction gives the 3.0L engine a better VE% than the 3.5. TThis is why the Z32 catches up and begins to pull away.
No, we're on the 300ZX sack because well, look at it. The 350 looks like a freakin celica and it isn't any faster either. For the price of that 350, you could have a heavily modified 300 that both looks better and performs better. T-tops don't hurt either.

Well say what u will im running with 300 degree rails 850cc injectors tdo6 turbos at 23lbs of boost weisco pistons eagle rods the list for on and on but fine I have another dyno run for running next month I'll post the numbers when im done
apparently some of you dont know much about nissan engineering. The vg30dett is a beast of an engine, the vq35 is a good engine but.... cannot put out the same power as a vg30dett. Yes the vg can have stability problems if you dont know what your doing but it is the better if your going for power. I personally own a 300zxtt that i just finished building and i am sitting at 680 rwhp. Obvioulsy i could go higher but for reliability i dont want to because i drive it on a daily basis.

Let's face the facts, a 350z is a watered down 300zx I've driven both cars 300zx wins on most levels accept stereo and the 350z with brembos stop very well. Let's see a 350z put down 480whp on a stock motor with over 100000 miles and still run strong. @FMAZON3 I had the car for 4 years and just wanted to try somthing different, my dad owns the car now, water pump went on it like 6 months ago but thats about it. and in the time i owned it besides my 20k in mods i think only a rear tie rod went and thats pushing 500+ hp over 3 years. but this wasent some 300 that you get for like 6000 bucks that needs 8000 in repairs, i paid 17500. just really check the car over befor you buy it, they are expensive to fix and a nightmare to work on.

The 350Z is a faster car than the 300ZX Twin Turbo. FACT of life. Yes, the Roadster does weigh more than the coupe due to the convertible motor and space but not to the point that makes it slower than the 300ZX Twin Turbo. Here are the times. Always start from 0MPH. The 300ZX TT does a 5.0-6.0 0-60. 5.5-5.68 will be one of the fastest U.S times and Euro versions are faster. The 350Z 2004-2008 will do 5.4 to 5.2 getting 1/10th of a Sec. faster per year. Roadsters do 08' 5.3 to 5.6 Slowest

Yeah the 300zx was truly my dream car when i was 16, i looked at it as nissan supra =p. Never had the chance to buy one mainly cuz all the ones being sold in my area where really beaten to death =(.
They are very similar in power..the diference in this video is that te 300zx its a twin Turbo...and the 350Z its not....
To be honest i prefer a Z31. They are very diferent in shape than other modern cars and very good in perfonmance...far more cheap than the Z32-33 & 34.

You guys sayin that the Z33 will win need to watch the video that topspeed did. The Z33 starts off faster but once the turbos get to spoolin', the Z32TT wins in the end. It on youtube. I own a Z32TT and not tryin to nock the 350 but you can do so much more with a Z32. I personally think if the Z32's tranny was as smooth as the Z33's it would win right off the line buy hey! the 07 and 08's can keep up with the twin turbo z.i know,i own both a 91 300z twin turbo and a 08 350z which has the VQHR engine.. which is a taller engine.i love both cars though.
No actually stock for stock its the 300zx not by much also I have raced a 350Z and beat it by about two lengths with my z32. Topgear solves this by setting up the race stock vs stock and the 300zx wins its on you tube.
@ae92rolla Wrong, an 07-08 350Z is faster, handles better, stops better, and is much cheaper in today's money than the 300ZX TT ever was. The HR cars are putting down low-mod 13's with good driving, I don't see any 300's doing 13.4 at 108mph bone stock. The only advantage of the 300 is that the motor can handle more power before needing a build.

i know i guy with my turbos on a z33 bent a rod in 2 months, but now with a built engine hes making 535whp and 640 torque at 16 psi with pump gas, its a beast.
rods are the weak point in the engine, and for a n/a stock it does very well against turbo cars, and with a little boost does wonders. . i just started my install on my kit and after winter will be out on low boost till i build the motor. then ill be shooting for 550 plus whp. . where you from?

The 350Z is a faster car than the 300ZX Twin Turbo. FACT of life. Yes, the Roadster does weigh more than the coupe due to the convertible motor and space but not to the point that makes it slower than the 300ZX Twin Turbo. Here are the times. Always start from 0MPH. The 300ZX TT does a 5.0-6.0 0-60. 5.5-5.68 will be one of the fastest U.S times and Euro versions are faster. The 350Z 2004-2008 will do 5.4 to 5.2 getting 1/10th of a Sec. faster per year. Roadsters do 08' 5.3 to 5.6 Slowest

@ovariesniper This is soooooooooooo true! I added a boost controller, twin pop charger, and Z1 ecu to my Z and it's putting out over 450hp at the wheels. Cheap upgrades really open the TT's up.

Yeah the 300zx was truly my dream car when i was 16, i looked at it as nissan supra =p. Never had the chance to buy one mainly cuz all the ones being sold in my area where really beaten to death =(.

The 350z has a better 0-60 time because it is NA and the 300TT has initial turbo lag. The 1/4 mile times don't lie, the 300ztt is faster.

They are very similar in power..the diference in this video is that te 300zx its a twin Turbo...and the 350Z its not....
To be honest i prefer a Z31. They are very diferent in shape than other modern cars and very good in perfonmance...far more cheap than the Z32-33 & 34.

They really are what... shit? The z31 weighs 400lbs more than the base model? What does that even mean? I was lol'ing at you calling the z31 engines shit, when block is the same damn thing as the z32's block, and the heads have fewer moving parts and are more reliable than the z32 heads. The VG engine in itself is great, and extremely reliable, which is why it was used through out almost all of Nissan's product line from sports cars to trucks to full built GTP ZX-T race cars.

What are you talking about? I never said that the VG engines were shit. All i said was that the roadster 350z weighs 400-500 pounds more than a regular 350z. And that it was probably automiatic. I never said anything about the 300zx.

i was at 18 psi on that vid. i made 464 whp at 23 psi on the dyno. so probably around 400whp on that vid

You guys sayin that the Z33 will win need to watch the video that topspeed did. The Z33 starts off faster but once the turbos get to spoolin', the Z32TT wins in the end. It on youtube. I own a Z32TT and not tryin to nock the 350 but you can do so much more with a Z32. I personally think if the Z32's tranny was as smooth as the Z33's it would win right off the line buy hey! What do you expect from a car thats 18 years old.

the 07 and 08's can keep up with the twin turbo z.i know,i own both a 91 300z twin turbo and a 08 350z which has the VQHR engine.. which is a taller engine.i love both cars though.

No actually stock for stock its the 300zx not by much also I have raced a 350Z and beat it by about two lengths with my z32. Topgear solves this by setting up the race stock vs stock and the 300zx wins its on you tube.

@ae92rolla Wrong, an 07-08 350Z is faster, handles better, stops better, and is much cheaper in today's money than the 300ZX TT ever was. The HR cars are putting down low-mod 13's with good driving, I don't see any 300's doing 13.4 at 108mph bone stock. The only advantage of the 300 is that the motor can handle more power before needing a build.

@ambientflier Lol, I appreciate both cars, but really, why do you insist on touting the superiority of the "HR" edition 350Z's in every video? They were only a 19hp increase, along with a 6ft/lb DEcrease over the old 350Z motor, and not only that, they suffered from approximately a 250 lb weight gain overall from the original 350Z! They are nice cars but they aren't that amazing or really that superior to a regular 350Z, or to a Z32 TT, so please stop being the poster boy for the HR.

@kamileet 1: 19hp on paper, but a 25whp difference on dyno, due to the new sae regulations. 240whp to 265. The powerband is also wider on the HR.
2: 250lb weight gain is BS. Maybe base 2003 to convertible 2007! Base to base, 03-07, is about a 100lb difference, 3150 to 3250.

lmao what a load of crap...stock for stock the 350z doesnt win against a 300zxtt. the drivers of the 300zx's must have either been crap or their car wasnt up to 'factory specs' when you raced them, which is most likely as over time the car will lose power
i had a stock 300zxtt, made 300bhp (which is factory stock, nothing special) and beat numerous 350zs, off the line and on a rolling start....not bragging, just saying the 350z isnt as fast stock for stock.

i know i guy with my turbos on a z33 bent a rod in 2 months, but now with a built engine hes making 535whp and 640 torque at 16 psi with pump gas, its a beast.

rods are the weak point in the engine, and for a n/a stock it does very well against turbo cars, and with a little boost does wonders. . i just started my install on my kit and after winter will be out on low boost till i build the motor. then ill be shooting for 550 plus whp. . where you from?
