Oh this song brings back so many memories. It's about a man who falls in love with a sex worker. He's looking for love, while she's just looking to get money...I can relate... :)
This response is meant for iminyjo...hey idiot, rapping isn't music. It's dumb niggers simply yelling out in "verse/rhyme"(which by the way is English). So yeah, today's music needs more Brits to come out of the closet and create good, clean music all over again. The lead singer for Pet Shop Boys isn't "rapping" you moron. He's singing in "poetic verse" which in turn derives from England you fucking idiot! Learn your history before you try to school me on your stupid ass 'rapping.

A little racist and disrespectful there aren't we? There are a lot of rappers who are genuine artists and it takes talent to rhyme. Learn your music history before degrading an entire group of people!
There's no degrading an entire group of people. Their stupid music "rap/r&b" does it all by itself! You and your kind today just can't handle the truth.
Frankly, I don't think people should use racism against black people. I don't listen to rap music much, but rock music and soul music influenced most of the musicians you listen to, and that was influenced by black singers from the past. It's not the black people, it's the greedy corporate executives who just wanted to make money who promoted that stuff initially. Some rap is good, the older stuff.
Brits always make good music! Wish more of them would start a new generation of great music that will conquer the present day rap/r&b crap that's ruining good music!
Though the *general* tenor of music has seemed to decline in recent years your comment is really unnecessary. A lot of Brits by their own admission owe a debt to r&b- in fact Dusty Springfield was a R&B singer- so what exactly are you saying? Question: what do you think he was doing in the middle of the song when he talked about "I bought you drinks/ I brought you flowers/ I read you books and talked for hours/ Every day, so many drinks..." Answer: rapping... Get a clue, I think
OMG! I LOVE Dusty Springfield, she is great! This was her comeback. Too bad she died years ago. Her album Dusty in Memphis is very enjoyable. And..... Pet Shop Boys rule!!
Such a wonderful song and video... Dusty's solo makes my spine tingle, she was so wonderful. And the images: the shadow dancing starting around 2:20; the very British-looking showgirl at 2:45-2:48; the short trombone note to end the refrain at 3:18; all just really well done.
..glad I checked in..tis is on several times..yet this is the best sound so far..cuz I can 'smoke' it through my KossTNT66's and no distortion..thanks for the upload..do you have a special sound ability?..krazykritik
