this is without a doubt your stator. there was actually a recall for certain vin numbers. mine unfortunately was just outside the recall grouping and there is not help to be had. you can pick up a stator for around 200. you have any sort of mechanical skills i wouldn't waste your money with a dealer who will charge 100/hr. i would however pick up the full service manual (about 100 bucks) it comes in handy for times like these and lists all tools and parts necessary for the job.
Update 2: Took it to a Honda dealer, turns out there was an issue with 04-05 1000's. Got my stator, rectifier, and flywheel replaced for free. Everything is fine now.
