The standard measure of debt is the debt to GDP ratio. Since the Clinton admin, the debt has gone up 6% under Republicans and 21% under Democrats.

Regardless of Obama's numbers, which aren't even out yet, a 27% increase is indefensable. I stand by my previous statement that the GOP, whose main focus is now smaller govenment and fiscal responsibility, has no business considering the candidacy of anyone associated with the Bush administration. Firstly, the President has very little control over the budget and taxes (Cite Article I & II, US Constitution). Look back to Clinton, you'll see that the GOP deficits are always significantly smaller than those of the Tax & Spend party.

Secondly, I agree with you on that the Bush administration didn't focus enough on reducing the size of government. But comparing Bush to Obama is like comparing an M80 to an 80 Megaton bomb -- both explode, but one does more damage

Did I miss something here? Clinton started with deficit of $290 billion, ended with SURPLUS of $236 billion (fiscal 2000). Bush destroyed all that. Clinton public debt (% of GDP) went down 16.4%, under Bush it went up 4%. Did you watch the same video the rest of us did? Explain how comparing Bush to Obama is like an M80 to an 80 Megaton bomb.
