i used to be abe to pee normally and then one day my friend fro no reason slaped my ass when i was usign a urinal and now i cant go pee in public no matter how hard i try
I have to hold my pee four hours a day cuz of shy bladder. At school we only have two restroom breaks and ppl r always in there so I can't pee so I go to class and cant focus cause I have to go so what should I do? I think I'm damaging my insides but I'm not sure so please tell me if I am or not.
holy crap I have this big time. I hate it when I'm at school, I go use the restroom and like 4 guys are infront of the mirror, talking, laughing just having fun, acting like its fucking social hour in the restroom, i have to cover my ears and just focus on the silence, and only then can i urinate. Ugh
@MarkTeePee Yes, though the symptoms are obviously markedly different for shy bladder syndrome, when you work to minimise or eliminate the anticipatory anxiety it tends to help reduce or eliminate the symptoms. Therefore there is something in common with excessive blushing, excessive sweating and a host of other issues that are at least partly maintained by fearing they will happen.
Nice video, I liked what he had to say. Another thing I found that really helped with my shy bladder (and is cheap too!) is a book called Urinate Now.
i just think shy bladder syndrome is just feeling anxious about peeing in public about guys who care if other men see their junk not really a syndrome of any sort. but hell, i ain't a doctor im just expressing my opinion.
@GrannyWhackers1217 I wish it was just about that because I dont give a fuck who "sees my junk". I dont have it as bad as some people but I cant go if someone is waiting on me or if someone is standing there staring at me (like at a drug test). I made it through basic training in the military so I was able to control it enough for that but when they forced me to go with a guy standing over me my bladder about popped before I let myself pee in front of him. And others had it worse than I did.
@sevendst19 I think I know how you feel. Had a similar situation with a drug test. Thing is, it's like what I want and what my body does are two different things. I really don't care about people hearing or seeing me pee. It's not something that bothers me. Yet for some reason my body decides to hold back when people are around. Makes me wish I had 100% control over what my body does sometimes.
@Yamigata Yeah I think a lot of people dont understand it. They finally diagnosed me with shy bladder after I couldnt go in front of the random drug test guy on the base, it took me hours to finally go and it sucked. I wished I could just go like everyone else and get the hell out of there in 5 minutes. He got mad at me and was like "we're not going through that again" after the second time it happened.
No, I have never had paruresis. I treat shy bladder syndrome. It isnt just me though, anyone experienced and well trained enough has a reasonable chance of effecting a cure. I dont personally offer 100% guarantees but some people may. My advice is to contact an experienced NLP trainer and/or hypnotherapist near you who has experience in dealing with paruresis and talk to them about how to help you to get out of the self-fulfilling kind of loops of thinking that maintain it. Best wishes to you :)
@JustBeWell I got a lot of help from a book I stumbled on called Urinate Now. It uses a lot of the same principles as NLP, but is a heck of a lot cheaper than a therapist. Also it does have a 100% money back guarantee.
