  • PAUL GILBERT WINS!!! FLAWLESS VICTORY!!!!

  • @BigTymerPimp Paul started guitar when he was 5....

  • godzilla is the flanger of paul

  • This is the third song I've heard that Paul Gilbert has done about Godzilla. Think he's a fan?

  • @HardRocker600 Might be. Just like Buckethead is a fan of Giant Robot.

  • great....paul is just great.. rock on!!!

  • damn

  • I gather that Paul wins. And the fact is that when Paul did pick up that guitar he never put it back down, he practices so much I'm sure that he sometimes doesn't even know what he's doing it is just in his muscle memory to play it, the power of a true GOD. 2012 vote GILBERT FOR GOD!

  • Paul 1 - 0 Godzilla

  • awesome track - one of pauls best

  • 3rd time listening to this song in a row! Is that weird?

  • 5 people have cocks in their ears.

  • i keep trying to do homework while listening to this but i can never overcome the urge to air guitar to this beastly perfomance of shredding

  • 3:33-onwards solo is just so Pink Floyd!

  • @ermonski which song of Pink Floyd feels the similarity?

  • @TheBestOfGuitarrist I can't remember but it has that David Gilmour feel. but that's just me

  • @ermonski Funnily enough the rythm guitar and bass line for solo in technical difficulties is exactly the same as comfortably numb. Paul loves floyd.

  • well, first chords sounds just like the first ones of "Sillence Followed by a Defeaning Roar", but it's Paul Gilbert, and if it was a entire album with the same music and different pedal effects would still be great.

  • intro coolest part it sounds asome

  • 3.33 to the end made me cum on my pants :S

Obviously the whole of the song made me...

  • @RougePakMing real classy

  • a massive penis just 3D-ed out of my screen and fucked me in the ear..

  • @RougePakMing that was so gay...

  • Paulgilbert aulgilbert ulgilbert lgilbert gilbert ilbert lbert bert ert rt t
  • well....I'm sure paul can catch Osama & kill him right now...luckily he was only interested in finding more guitar knowledge......

  • and Buckethead! ;)

  • the greatest masterpiece of all times

  • pretty sure Paul dominates Godzilla with this song

  • @4redballoonz You haven't heard the soundtrack of the Return of Godzilla then.

  • whats b3?

  • 3:33 to end : It's so beautiful, sounds like the guitar is crying. This is amazing.

  • 1:25 *.*

  • Ditto :D

  • I just realized that you ARE on the right track ElJimbo. As people grow and mature, they tend to stick to a schema "system" of solving problems, learning, thinking, etc., so there's a good chance that the older you are, the harder it is to learn, but that's only with people with one-track minds. Also, your brain won't run out of space to store memories. To do that it'd take forever. A human brain is not like a computer's harddrive.

  • @rajanda true, but it is nonetheless a quite logical fact that kids learn faster than adults, for example I've been living in several countries, and in Spain the adults would go to spanish lessons and learn it maybe 3 times slower than the kids and teenagers... But you might true, since I might have mixed "memory" and "learning ability" which are very similar but still not exactly the same... for example, Einstein couldn't even remember where his keys were xD

  • @ElJimboGuitar Just wondering, why do Spaniards need to learn Spanish?

  • @cactus445566 i meant foreign adults in spain if thats what you meant? great song by the way, huh guys? :D

  • @cactus445566 lmfao nice

  • This is so simple, the younger you are the more space you got in your mind to learn, so the older you get the less space there is and the slower you learn. A baby has a mind like a sponge, and when your old, that sponge cant be dripping anymore than it already is without looking like a waterfall... fastest learner 0-99 slowest learner, thats why babies grow up so quick...

  • That was such a stupid theory. The reason it feels like you're learning slower is because you ARE...BUT...that doesn't mean it's because you start learning slower. It's because of the fact that the more you learn, the less there is to learn about something. If you begin to learn music theory at the age of 12, by the time you're 30, you might have learned the majority of how music works. Someone who is motivated (no matter what age) will learn fast no matter what their age is.

  • I read comments below where people were arguing about natural talent.

First of all, have you idiots hever heard "you don't use it you lose it"? Guitarists like Paul Gilbert start in their teen years(12-19) and practice all the time. They use music as a medium to express emotion. They also have a lot of influences that they incorporate into their music. Learning instruments is easier young, than learning older.

Nobody picks up an instrument and can play a symphony right away. Idiots.

  • @BigTymerPimp As a guitar player of 18 years (started at 5, im 23 now) This is ABSOLUTELY true, there are some that pick it up faster because they have some genetic predisposition or because they are very into music already, or play another instrument. But most of the older folks i have taught have a very hard time learning. Younger students pick it up so fast its amazing.

  • @Starsmuse maybe because young people like myself dont got work its shool friends and girls pretty easy to balance ive been playing for 3 1/2 years and play vai paul and joe stuff =D

  • That does have a lot to do with it. I still go to school, and dont work so after homework and aside from my daughter, i have a lot of time to play. A lot of it has to do with wanting to learn and wanting to challenge yourself too. To many people see it as difficult, they should do as you probably did, i know i did it, and thats listen to guys like Vai, Petrucci, Satriani, and imagine yourself playing like that and then take up the challenge. Congrats on learning that stuff so quickly, keep it up!

  • @BigTymerPimp You're right to some degree. Paul actually started playing around 5 but didn't really start to kick the technique into high gear until he turned 13.

  • @BigTymerPimp So true. I heard that anybody can get good at something BUT you have to invest 3 yrs and 12-16 hrs per day focused on your craft to achieve greatness. Thats alot of goddamn commitment.

  • Hell, the only thing that might take someone a while is learning to play by ear. I'm just sick of people who say that "you have to be born with it" which is complete bullshit. They honestly think that anyone who plays music never practiced once in their lives. The reason why people can get good when they are young is because time is not a worry for them and thier muscles are just developing. Its not like you can't learn when you're older either you just need commitment and time.

  • @BigTymerPimp couldnt agree more i hate when people watch a video like this and say "its just natural talent its not like he practiced for hours everyday until he was this good"

  • @alex102473 Don't get me wrong there are a few people who have perfect pitch and a few child prodigies. But, most child prodigies wouldn't be child prodigies without perfect pitch. And that is not too common. Even prodigies and people with perfect pitch practice regularly too. I watched a documentary on what makes a genius a genius and it basically said what I've always said. "Some people get it faster than others" its not like you cannot ever learn to do large equations same goes for music.

  • @alex102473 yeah I know man defo agree, ive played for ten years and now i play Satch Gilbert Malmsteen you name it ive tried it, and these idiots try and say "emm, yeah, he picked up a guitar with one string and a light just went on" fucking dumbasses, love Paul Gilberts music its unbafuckinlievable

  • @F4TB0Y69 Ah, that reminds me, I really should be practicing.

And Paul definitely owned Godzilla in this battle.

  • @thesk8rman765 yep, no question about it

  • @BigTymerPimp

Actually he started at the age of 5 ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @BigTymerPimp He started at 5 D:

  • @TheRunikko

Hes trying to establish that guitarists start in their young years either way.. not HOW old particularly.

  • @BigTymerPimp I totally agree with you, but you gotta admit ; everyone doesn't have a giant pinky.

  • @FridaysMaskedMan His pinky's size doesn't matter. It's in proportion to his body size. What matters is how much dexterity he has in it from so much practice. There are tons of guys with big hands/fingers out there that suck. There tons of guys out there with smaller hands that are great too. As long as you have fingers, enough time, enough money to buy the equipment, a great practice routine, patience, pure dedication, creativity, and study hard you can be a great player.

  • @BigTymerPimp Yeah i know, i was just kidding ;) I remember someone who didn't know anything about guitar, who saw me playing, and said " Even without trying to play guitar, i can't move my fingers so fast".

Playing dexterity is progressively made through the flesh and through the mind.

  • @FridaysMaskedMan Very, very true. Kudos to you. Keep on practicing and never give up.

  • @BigTymerPimp Thank you ;) Don't worry i won't stop playing until my fingers blow out and my ears go dancing macarena.

  • @BigTymerPimp but especially Paul began to play guitar lately as he was frustrated by some really bad guitar teacher. I think he was 16 or 17 when he began to really play guitar.

You need some talent to get that good. But also you need that 99% of training...

  • @JBJHJM Wait, where did he discuss this really bad guitar teacher business? I want to see this.

  • @trinoply I think it was PG himself talking about it in some interview/workshop video. Currently I'm not able to find it, but I will tell you if I remember where I saw this.

  • @BigTymerPimp Some do...they're called savants.

  • just go home please.

  • My money is on paul.

  • Great song, paul is awsome!!!!.

  • OMFG, buckethead really took classes with PG,

  • Paul would win!!! Godzilla doesnt have a chance!

PG would blast out a solo that would make the earth shake so badly it would crack and godzilla would fall into it and its the end of the epic fight

  • How tough do you guys feel arguing about ignorance over the internet.

  • 1:40 - 1:46 will now be known as the jizz section of the song lol

  • i have to say this albums is one piece of work, it not only shows paul talent as a guitar player but as a musician in every sense of the word.

this is great stuff, and what a wonderful way to end an album, i absolutely envy him.

  • I remember Paul from the MI (GIT) days and the guy is even cleaner and better in ways now. He is extremely talented. I agree with Shane. He is one of the best all time shredders.

  • Wat song is this????

  • paul vs godzilla

  • why cant people just enjoy the fucking music.

im sick of reading comments on good songs and people have to argue about weather there good or not

if you dont like the guitar player or the song then you shoulndt even be listeing to the music

  • take off the filter.....in the options next to text comments

  • F***IN AMAZING! I think I wet my pants.

  • forget aobut hendrix, he isnt that great and overrated...

and its not the 60's, it takes much mroe dedication to playing guitar then in 60's...

back in 60's ppl didnt know wtf they was doing, just moked weed and pick notes..

    just my opinion

  • 3:34 ULTRA EPIC!!

  • I agree reign. just a little concerned. how old of a twinkie are we talking about! could be a problem

  • Anyone know which guitar Gilbert used for this song?

  • im pretty sure his fireman

  • Paul Gilbert is cooool!

  • 1:38

    DAMN

  • busted a a boner 8=====D

  • me too 8=============================D

  • It still doesn't cut it.

It's Paul vs Vai, Satrianni, Petrucci, Becker, Hendrix, EVH, Mustaine, Hammet, Chuck Norris, Mr. T, Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, All the ancient samurai and ninja, 15 atomic bombs, a mega earthquake, a 700 mile high tidal wave, a meteorite the size of the sun, the sun itself, 1,000,000,000 G's of gravitational pull, a twinkie, god and satan and a dog. That is just for one arm, now for the other...

  • Haha ... so true.

  • @Rei6gnIn6Bloo6d

    and Buckethead! ;)

  • Emi is a beast! =O

Paul's not too bad either! ;D J/K, rock on Paul! =D

  • Normally I wont comment like this but I think that hendrix would beat all of them at songwriting and guitar playing. He simply ruled the 60s.

  • evrybodys gonna hate me but i call bullshit

    paul all the way

  • I have too agree he is pretty great.

  • Hendrix ruled the 60's. Paul rules. Period.

  • Paul Gilbert shreds Godzilla in to pieces

  • Well, paul did teach buckethead his mastery, so in retro spec, you should be saying "Some buckethead songs make me think of this" Xd lol

  • nooooooooo how many times I have to tell the chickens taught buckethead not paul

  • the song name reminds me of some buckethead songs like 'buckethead vs guillatine'

  • im horney

  • Paul Gilbert is hands down the most amazing guitarist. No matter how many times i listen to the same song it's always amazing and breath-taking. He's the reason i still play a guitar today =]

  • paul is the guitar n the flanger is called is godzilla... thats the concept behind the track

  • why is it called Paul vs Godzilla? That's not a real match...should just be called Paul vs God. Although even then it still wouldn't be a fair fight. Paul Gilbert for life...

  • The only true challenge would be Paul vs Chuck Norris and Mr T put together.

  • yep

  • ur still wrong it would be

Paul Gilbert vs jimi hendrix, MAB, yngwie malmsteen, Herman Li, Sam totman, jason becker, marty friedman(spellcheck), Chuck Norris and Mr T and God all put together. PAUL GILBERT WOULD STILL WIN!!!

  • somehow i doubt that.

  • germs in your brain subdued you to alhzeimer.

Sorry we have to lobotomize you.

    Dick

  • Stupid comment mate. Technically they're on a par. It just comes down to personal taste

  • Technically they're NOT on a pair. Becoz Paul can't play sweep picking, and Jason Becker could play string skipping, hybrid picking al da dhit picking there may exist.

PLUS, Jason Becker's muscality is beyond TECHNIQUE IT'S GENIUS.

Paul is a virtuoso but NOT a genius i assure you that.

Mastering the guitar is something that requires quite more than just technique. People that talk about technique all the time DON'T KNOW SHIT about playing guitar, that's why they talk ABOUT IT!

    DUHH!

  • What are you trying to imply with your DUH comment and Dont know shit. Quite an aggressive and OTT response just because someone has a difference of opinion to yours. Plenty of videos of Paul playing string skipping. So it looks like youre the one thats only doing the talking here as I dont see any uploads from you? Do you play?

  • Btw, in case you haven't fucking realized, you can't process the feel of music without a good technique, exactly why he explains it so much. You sir have won idiot of the week.

  • You people just yap yap about technique....you don't know SHIT!!

TALENT- VOCATION is the PROPER NAME FOR IT.

OR YOU HAVE IT OR YOU DON'T!

AND MOST OF YOU ALL JUST DO NOT HAVE IT.

    PLAIN simple AS THAT.

  • No your a fucking idiot, talent is achieved by practice, your thinking of the words prodigy... BY PRACTICING YOUR PRACTICING YOUR

    HERE IT COMES

    WAIT FOR IT

    YES

    TECHNIQUE

  • Practice what you will, IDIOT.

Learn the...DUUH TECHNIQUES BS CRAP DUMB-ASS, what you will,

you JUST DON'T HAVE THE TALENT -PERIOD.

    STRESSED IN DENIAL,(you're pathetic)

  • Talent is something SOME people, are BORNED WITH. You CANNOT GAIN TALENT by "learning techniques" BS CRAP rethoric for -ILLITERATE RETARD DUMB FUCKS.

Coz that is what YOU ARE, if you believe that FALLACY for illiterated MORONS.

  • You're calling us illiterate? You can't even construct a sentence or use proper grammar for that matter.

    - As far as Practicing for talent............Enough said. You're a complete moron.

  • Now you illiterate idiot are trying to teach me grammar

    ahahahah.

Cute you're soo cute you blind ignorant.

  • If i am a moron that makes us even, coz you're a BIGGER MORON.

  • Dude just stop, your humiliating yourself. Let's take this sentence for one.

"Now you illiterate idiot are trying to teach me grammar "

Read that aloud please, although you get a bonus for spelling Grammar right.

  • aloud:

Now you illiterate idiot are trying to teach me grammar

  • Jesus christ you're stupid. Paul gave up playing because when he was 14 because he dident know that it was possible to upstroke. Then he spent 5 year sgetting good by practicing his *dumroll*

    Technique.

  • @thewarriorsrok

Have you ever studied the multifactorial theory by Gardner (authority of psichology), ? No?

    How predictable.

Now if you're an illiterated DICK, why don't you resume your insignificant perspective and SHUT UP?

Paul Gilbert was born with a talent not many people have, but you can call it a "type" of intelligence (according to Gardner).

And that's a SCIENTIFICAL FACT JACK.

If you're not born with it, you can practice all you like , you will never have it.

  • Sorry I dident read "obscure psycology book" by professer of douchery, you elitist fuck. So if everyone is born into a talent like a super fucking caste system, I guess Nobody has to go to scxhool to learn a trade because people will be naturaly good electricians and pumbers right? Learning theory is like learning the alphabet, you need to do it before you write something like "the odessy".

  • @thewarriorsrok

So if i have studied psichology ,i'm an elitist fuck?

Now who's attacking the opponent instead of the idea?

I'm not sorry to read books, in College, something you can't do, because you're too stupid to read, or to get into College. You started an argument about talent, a subject you don't know nothing about ,unless your empirist idiotic observations.

Why don't you read a book for a change, maybe you'll start learning how to spell correctly, for starters?

  • You mean "psychology" :D

  • FYI, The arguemnt from authoriy is when you present some asshole with a phd and his ideas and say because he went to college his shit is bulletproof. In science there are no authorities.

  • @thewarriorsrok

No, there are no authorities in science, you wise-ass, that's why you are the Nobel prize of douchery and numb dumbness of shit.

  • The final stage of losing an argument is to attack the opponet, not the position, ad homenim. You have done a grat job of demonstrating a logical fallacy.

  • @thewarriorsrok

Your position is that of an ignorant who says that science is no authority.

Why wouldn't i call you what you are, a dumb-shit?

Let's burn the books shall we , and become all illiterate retardeds like you, why not?

You insult science because you have no knowledge unless that of an empiric illiterate , who didn't even finish high school.

  • For some high on his own piss cocksucker like you in a fancy college, you would think you would spend less time arguing with retards like me over the internet. I guess whatever you're taking must be un-taxing enough to waste days fucking around on a youtube video.

  • @thewarriorsrok

First time you've said something i agree a BIT on.

  • paul actually when he started didnt know you were allowed to do anything but upstrokes.

  • @UrSkulled : I totally agree. I'm sure paul didn't comb out of the womb and start playing scarified or get out of my yard , Actuall talent takes time and practice to develop and along with that, like UrSkulled said, techinique.

  • Wrong!

Gilbert was born playing string skipping inside his mom's belly! And you didn't.

    Envy is an ugly thing.

  • @barakahasard Um, you're the one that's wrong. Maybe you should actually do some research before you make yourself look like an ass. Gilbert's picking for example, wasn't even that great. In fact, he finally started working on a different technique 8 fucking years after he started playing. He worked extremely hard and practiced for mass hours to get where he is. If you don't believe me, YouTube search Paul Gilbert picking and click on the first vid.

  • @UrSkulled: That is a matter of opinion. Some people believe in nature-based skills (being 'born with it'), and other believe in nurture-based skills (having learned).

Remember to be a critical thinker. :) Take care.

  • @rootvalue

    People are ignorant.

They can believe in WHADAFUKEVER, but that doesn't change reality, and one of reality's characteristics is that MOST PEOPLE ARE IGNORANT and WILL ALWAYS BE IGNORANT IDIOTS who DON'T KNOW JACK-SHIT , about ALMOST ANYTHING, but they will always IMAGINE THEY KNOW EVERYTHING!!

Pride is but ONE of the WEAK SPOT of the IGNORANT.

  • im not just saying this to you i didnt want to post it 3 or 4 times but by replying with a comment .....ill say "BOLD" as that its not making you appear any better than the person you replied to. really if you think about it its just attacking them with another form of ignorance. but whatever ......please dont take this offensively i was posting my opinion on the whole "youtube war" subject.

  • Agreed everyone looks stupid arguing over the internet. Cant really call someone else ignorant if you, yourself are ignorant about their personal life.
