  • mindblowing dance, once again top ten in order, late padminiji, great vaijantimalaji,ragini,wahidaji,rekhaji,hema,sridevi.jaiprada.meenakshi sheshadriand aishwarya abi rai.[dilip d]

  • Hah! Great joke. Madhuri fantastic dancer but nowhere in the league of Vyjayantimala!

  • Please,.Madhuri is a fanttastic dancer, no doubts there at all but she is no patch to V'mala...Only Padmini, Ragini, Vjyanthimala and Kamala are on par where dancing is concerned. No one and none have come up to their standard till today, they will remain national treasures of indian cinema where classical dancing is concerned. Only Meenakshi Seshadri perhaps with her classical skills is perhaps the only one who could match up to these dancing legends.Asha Parekh, Rajhsree, Waheeda matched also.

  • @Dancewithme015, That is true. She had to go through multiple rehersals. The point is that when they were shooting it was oked in one take only.

  • I wish Madhuri had got an opportunity to do such dance in context to one take dance or Long Shots.. I guess She only Cud do it..!!

  • @Dancewithme015 Lot of old dancers like Vjaynti, Padmini, Ragin ,Kamala and many more could do long takes on dancers cause they were known as All India Dancers. None like them anymore..Only Meenakshi Seshadri can perhaps pull it off. Not Madhuri. Madhuri could probably pull of off a jhatka matka dance but not classical. She is trained in Kathak but never took her dancing to a proffesional level. As a classical dancer, i only enjoyed her dan

  • @tonynaso Well That means your Context is towards Classical Dance.. I feel Dance is Dance and you any ways agreed that MD Did Sangeet and Devdaas apart with her all latka jhatka. Now Point here is MD Cud do in Sangeet and Devdaas what the other classical Dancer did in their Movies, but But other actresses cud do Latka Jhatkas which is any ways a beautiful Form in its own.

  • @Dancewithme015 Hah..my dear friend..u obviously know only about MD and not others..U see most of the classical dancers that i mentioned like Vjym, Padmini etc were very versatile dancers. They were infact the predecessors of Semi-classical dancing and that would include Jhatka matkas. Watch Eena Meena Deekah from Asha (the movie) and see how Vyjym dances like Fred Aistaire or See Singapore (the movie) and see how Padmini dances Aane Laga..Such was their versatility.

  • @tonynaso Darling I have been of fan all those actresses since 80's when I saw their Dances but I personally Like Mds Dance is coz you can simply make out no Style in MD Dance and yet it becomes a mistery.. and apart no actresses.. No Actress cud beat MDs Ex[ression on face..

  • @Dancewithme015 agreed her facial expressions were good and that was also one of her strengths in her talent, infact the main strength is her smile and her facial expressions, her dancing execution of her moves were quite repetitous. She gyrated a lot andThat was actually her signature moves and tecniques in most movies except Sangeet, Devdas and Koyla ( her tandav was quite good) - but if in your opinion she is the best, i guess i have to respect that opinion.

  • @Dancewithme015 Madhuri's facial expressions were good because she had a beautiful smile. But i would have to disagree with you. Vyjayanti had better facial expressions and better technqiues whenever she danced. Madhuri is super as well but Vyjyanti was better.

  • @Dancewithme015 In this light, i will not say Md is a bad dancer..she is a very good and charismatic dancer, had excellent facial expressions and too add a brilliant performer. I am fan as well and that smile of hers will always linger in my mind.

  • @Dancewithme015 i just cannot agree that she is the best dancer. She is very very good but far from the best. infact Helen was a better dancer also. Md is one of the best out there but certainly not the best.

  • @Dancewithme015

Madhuri did a whole song without cuts in "Barson ke baad" of Anjaam movie. It wasn´t an intense dance number but I still love it cause it´s not easy and the cam.man has to be skilled too.

  • @Khwaab Yaa Iknow, Even I like The song Barson ke baad, coz its my childhood memory and besides great melody.. I spoke context, it didnt have much to do for Madhuri, so she shud have an opportunity to do song like Jewel Thief..

  • at 4.25 ..saroj khan is visible in maroon skirt at the left side

  • one of the side dancers is SAROJ KHAN.....one of the best choreographers 2day in bollywood

  • this song is the one which makes my soul dance. i m the big fan of this song.

  • Nilaskim+Nargiss - Perhaps the producers thought they could sell it in Hollywood... like they tried to do with Guide.

I mean the film...not the menorah..

  • Nilaskim and Nargiss, perhaps the producers thought that they could sell it in Hollywood... like Guide...

  • how do i download this video on a dvd?

  • Anyone has the lyrics to the song and translation to English? Thank you

  • Where should I send?

  • No doubt a fantastic song. But contrary to popular belief it's not a 'one-take-song'. They were long shots with cuts, note in 2.31, 3.47, etc. But incredible shottaking by the genius Vijay Anand. Vyjantimala has danced like no one from her generation could pull off. Not that it's already a great song but the song could have been even better if Vijay Anand and Vyjantimala had got along with each other. in fact the actress and the director were not on talking temrs when they filmed this song!

  • Increadible song

  • still fresh fragrance.

  • Why is there a menorah in the background?

  • @nilaskim iasked myself the same thing!

  • I'm thirteen and I love OLD songs. One of my favorites! 10 people are idiots to dislike this song

  • I'm thirteen and I love OLD songs. One of my favorites!

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • sexxyyyy song

  • just look at the choreography....wow..Indians should be proud of such rich culture, music

  • isko kehte hai composing ....... s d burban sahaab.......

  • Isnt this more of a Nepali/Bhutani culture? Or does India's north-east have similar?

  • @denkdink sikkim and parts of north east india have this culture ,similar to nepali and bhutaneese culture .

  • anyone know what instruemnts where used in this song

  • this song will beat hands down "nimbooda" song despite the latter song was made after nearly 45 years and of course with all the hitech music used in the latter . Vyjanthi beats hands down aish in dance thanks crandallmcgee. dance choreography and dance by vyjanthi is superb. asha would have sung this song betterthan lata.

  • Ah, the grace, the choreography, the music, the direction. What a masterpiece!

  • Sikk Film Sikk Tune.x

  • wah what a dance by Madam Vaijanthimala, superb

Hai na Bindiya, Kya Bolti Tu

    Radhe

  • This song was recorded in one take by Mr S.D .Burman with Smt Lata Mangeshkar Mr Bhupinder with almost 80- 100 musicians. Just awesome work , simply legends no one can even come close to theses masters. Hats Off.

  • An amazing song by S.D.Burman, Vyjayantimala does full justice like she always did with wonderful dance numbers.

    Thanks for uploading.

    Dr.Rajamurthy

  • wow 2 mins for just the introduction!

  • Can you say me the meaning of the lyrics in english?

  • Once i ask my grand father that dadaji who was the most beautiful at your time.. i was expecting him to say madhubala (even i am a fan of her). He thought about a min in his ripe old age, and said very softly, vaijyanti mala was the best....

  • @manzha You had your grandpa make a tough choice!

PS. He had good taste. Madhubala was sheer beauty but V'mala could talk with just her eyes.

  • what a fun song...I have'nt seen this movie yet, I definately should! Another oldie that I will add to my list of movies to see

  • Saroj khan dances better than Vaijayanti.

  • @a2z815 u'v got to be kidding me??!!! LOL

  • @tonynaso loool, tell me about it! how can any one compare her to saroj khan?!! haha.

  • @a2z815 : joke of millennium. !!

  • what a beautiful song! takes you into different world.

  • unique song dance and picturisation. One of the hit movies of its time a pleasure to wathch after decades

  • Vyjayanthimala did one of the most difficult songs from that era. she did many scenes in this song in just one shot with no editing.

  • @ Msshanibo808:

If you really think so then you should shame on you !

  • @Shona682

its apparent that you are either not aware or totally ignorant about the greatest civilization and culture ever... the Indian Hindu vedic civilization. it shaped India and is the root and the most ancient, richest, mother of all cultures and civilizations.

But alas! you r an ignorant hypocrite fool!

  • @bengalsaffron NICE REPLY

  • Vyjinthimala has always been wonderful in this type of dancers. Is there no one to take her place.

  • WOO HOO! DANCE Miss MALA DANCE!

Boy can she dance! She dances up a storm here! Love it!

AND THE MUSIC SO TOTALLY ROCKS!

  • very nice old song

  • Some great dancing by Vajanti Mala

  • d music is so mesmerising...what music n songs man!!!gud old days!!

  • in classical and folk dances nobody can defeat vaijayntimalaji and madhuriji !!

they both are ultimate classical and folk dancers.

    after that hemaji and srideviji!

    then karisma, kareena and priyanka!

  • Damn, woman can dance..

Am disappointed I didn't get to see what happened.. Oh, well.

  • @mitsuhote yeah cause she is so short; i like short ones and i like her petite thumkas; so cute baby ass

  • The Anand Brothers are perhaps indian cinema's inost influential film-makers of their generation...Jewel Thief ushered the modern cinema with bold and sexy women movie subjects took new twists and the sets music songs and actors were jist perfect ....Lata M and Vyjanthimala were created by god as rewards for us humans!!!JT and Guide being my fav movies of all - time ....thx for this grt upld, crandallmcgee

  • This is so cool!

  • old is gold

  • they can never have actresses like vijantimala again

  • sometimes i wish i was indian

  • yeah me too :D what a great culture :)

  • Wherever you are from, I am sure there are good things about it.

  • @Msshanibo808 me too! :-p

  • @Msshanibo808 you should write i wish i were indian instead of i was indian.

  • @chand145

  • @chand145 they're both correct

  • very nice

  • 6.14 to 6.20..her moves are incredible! WOW!

  • i watched that segment like 20 times.. completely mesmerised

  • one of my fav. song:D

  • ultimate song

    ultimate dance

    ultimate actors

  • wonderful

  • One of the best choreographed songs ever in Hindi film industry .... Awesome !!!

The best thing abt this song is that it was choreographed by Vijay Anand himself the director of this film and brother of Dev Anand... He was a master and ahead of all of his times. Alas he never got the credit for his achievements and his immense talents...

But this song is the testimony to his greatness.... hats off to you Vijay.

May your soul rest in peace

  • @vikram0408 asstiant for this song was Soraj Khan her self..

  • WOW! One of the best songs/perfomances. Jewel Thief has outstanding songs ....good old times

  • did i say One of the best?? She is the best!

  • Vyjayanthi the dancer of dancers. A complete dancer. A Charismatic dancer. A classical dancer. One of the best dancers in the history of Indian cinema.

  • Vjyajantimala has been one of the best dancers to grace Bollywood.

  • i love her dance its WICKED!!

  • One of my favourite song....

  • 1 word... Wow!

  • Superb Song!! Amazing dance by Vjyajantimala

  • Awesome. I didn't know that this song was shot in a single take, though it has been a childhood fave for me. The music, the song, the dance steps, the rhythm and VJ - they all fascinated me a lot.

Thanks a lot for posting this Vid here.

  • what a perfect dance.....!

    great direction and screen play.

  • this dance style is too northern for vyjayanthimala, I think. the outfit doesn't suit her aesthetic and the moves aren't complicated enough. any filmi mamzel can shake it like this; we need vyj for the intricate bharatnatyam dance-offs

  • Yes, agreed wid you..........

but one thng is for sure, no1 can ever replace her .... she was a brilliant actress.......... :)

  • FABBBBBULOUS SONG!!!! i watch it almost every day..on dvd...Love the dance in this one....i think it's one of the TOP b'wood dances..she did gr8 justice to this song & dance....Love old times!!!!

  • Yup dude! Rita! :-)

  • i think the cameraman and director of this song did a real awesome job...the shots are real long and very clear....

  • wow i just noticed now...the shots are pretty long..

  • Indeed. The editing are very presise too. It took some veiwings before I could spot all the cuts. It must have been some team.

  • bello...espectacular!!! me encanta!

awesome! greetings from Venezuela!!! very nice! <3

  • I remember hearing that Bhupinder was the lead guitarist in the SD/RD group - the rumour credits him with composing and playing the opening bars in "Dum Maro Dum".

  • looll well he does hav a point dsnt he....=P

  • wah wah, koi bat nehi

  • Is Vyjayanthimala really wearing a partly see through dress. The dark green-black dress seems to be revealing her fair skin--look at some close up. I thought I saw her nipples--her dress is not 100% opaque. Or, am I sexually blind enough? I am going to watch her HQ video somewhere.

  • You are not sexually blind. You are a sexual pervert.

  • Everything is fair in sex and war. Vyjayanthimala is a dream woman. So, it is quite natural for me to look for more of her, isn't it? Now, don't tell me to appreciate just her dance or her beauty--she is more... Chahe koi mujhe jangli kahe, Yahoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • Yes, you are right. Aradhana, I suppose, is the culmination after which RD went on his own. But same thing could be said about Guide, teen Deviyan, etc.

  • Bhupinder was a part of SD's entourage of Musicians those days and later on he joined with RD. I am sure that he played instruments in this song as a part of the group. Yes, I very much agree with you that it adds greatly to the flow of tune. That's what the graet music directors do. I guess.

  • For VJ it is a very simple dance. Dont forget she is a classican dancer. So what she does in this song just dance. nothing more. She even does not follow the simple rule of producing sound of music from her legs and ghoongroos.

well she is doing a free dance. And look what dev is doing , just running amok. this dance is taken in one shot. because nobody has to do anything, the song itself carries

  • @sanpatkan Well It was been admitted by Vijay Anand in an interview that this dance was not easy for VJ hence she has to undergo rehersals..

  • @Dancewithme015 that might be not true indeed..according to saroj khan she was ready to give more than 18 complicated shots without complaining for this sng...and do bear in mind that madhuri's favourite dancer is vyjayanthimala..

  • @Prasanth205 Well, What Is said was based on the Interview given by Vijay anand in 1993 in VJ Episode of Baaje Payal. Apart my point want was to express that MD cud deliver such Job but didnt happen, If you say that MD is fan VJ, dunno where thediscussion going to....

  • @Dancewithme015 sorry..to continue..Madhuri was perhaps at her best in Sangeet and Devdas..this are two of the rare movies where she had an opportunity to display her kathak skills.

  • OOOOo Shalu-- who is that male singer does anybody knows

  • Bhupinder ( the guy who sang ''Mithe bole bole '' in Parichay

  • my god Bhupinder!!!!!!!!!!!!!. He is a great singer, I am astonoished to learn that such an outstandindg singer is hired for only a small verse oooooooooooooooo shalu. . But that only shows the seriousness of the music director. Hats off to Bhupinder. That ooo shalu has added a certain flavor to this song.

  • The song looks like RD-SD composition together. The film's introductory caption recognizes RD as Assistant Music Director. The tune is perhaps SD's but musical arrangement is so complex ( which was not favored by SD), it is unlikely he did it. The rhythms from 1.40 to 2.00 and last one and half min. is what about to become RD hallmarks later in the 70's .

  • Something like what happened in Block Buster "Aradhna".

  • Comment removed

  • i love old bollywood songs

  • When bollywood had women with full bodies...

  • Look how strongly she conveys her emotions through her facial expression and dance. She need not have to be naked or model's body to be a star. This is called acting!

  • totally agree.

  • @nowornever86 Well said BRO. We love Vaji from those days.

  • @zakikhan52 I hope you know us girls can appreciate full bodies too. :)

  • great music,great direction,great choriography,and great danceing n acting.........i hav no words to say

  • my god her dance is awesom excelent dance it suit very well with beets

  • the beat towards the end of the song is unexpressable!!!! a great rhythm and composition. brilliant s.d. burman!!!!

  • Wow, people were so talented back then !!

It almost makes me sad when I compare now n then.

  • i agree

  • tonynaso...if u luk at the song properly its nt been shot in one tke ......but there were long takes....

  • hi..well if you read my earlier reply to another person down here, then i have to reiterate that Dev Anand the producer of Jewel Thief and his brother Vijay Anand the director of the same said it in an article on the movie. you can check it out in the net.i am not the only one who read it as you can see others commenting on the other uploads of the same dance, many have said so.

    its your prerogative to believe.

    Have a good day.

  • This song might have been taken in single shot. See 1) They might have rehearsed well. say for 100 times. 2) Now look at the song. All the beauty lies in the song and not in dance 3)See what VJ is doing throughout this song! just turning and twisting! She is a classical dancer, for her it is peanuts. 4) Now look at the supporting dancers! they have one single task to turn around and dance. see my next comment

  • please i need lyrics please help!!

  • google

  • urm?

  • great song

  • this dance was done in just one take..thats Vj'mala!! she's just magic on the dance floor. Wow what a dance!!

  • such talks sounds good but are not true. it has not been done in one take, anyone can figure it out by looking at this song

  • bobbyfaith it was written in a write up on the filming on the movie. Mr. Dev Anand, the Director of the movie confirmed it. And it has been read by many people. So i wasnt fabricating it just to sound good! But i cant help it if you dont believe. Thats your prerogative.

  • One of the best dances of Bollywood has been performed in this song by great Vyjyantimala,

    Regards,

    LoW

  • the actress looks so zabardast in this old great song. thanks janab for posting this great sweet song, this is aman dayani from toronto canada.

  • I am selling the original soundtrack CD to this film Jewel Thief (Saregama) for £7, which also includes dialogues from the film. Thank you.

  • i really like this song

  • good vid.+song

  • ddrrbb2005 totally agree! Vijayantimala is a dancing goddess. Supreme dancing!!!!

  • I did this dance once when I was a teen. I wish I had a video. I love Vjanti mala.

  • This is one of the most amazing dance sequence in any bollywood movie I have ever seen !!!!

Does anyone else agree with me ??

  • Vijanti is just fantastic!!! wow she can really dance...

  • Lata Mangeshkar's voice here is so sweet! So wonderful to listen to, even without the video:) The music with all the different sounding drums is so good too.

  • Its a such a pleasure to see Vyjayanthimala dance. She is just magic on the dance floor! She dances with such passion and her speed and agility...wow!! No actress comes close!

  • THE DANCER IS VEJAIYANTIMALA

  • this is a true classical song love it alot

  • yeah i got a secret and i think ill keep to myself and i know how beautiful i am no need to corrupt me ill still rise and well where will u stand i really loved to well never mind

  • Did anybody notice how the music is build(played) from 4:14 to 4:36 And then that Chim at 4:37 is very good.

  • aishwaryas ok but not a patch on these lot shes too wobbly and at times not strong enough

  • She's so gorgeous!

  • her dancing and expressions are spot on, her performance is flawless

  • i totally agree that its one of the best dance numbers in history of bollywood...

can anyone pls tell who choreographed this song beautifully????

  • The choreographer was P.L.Raj, guru to the present generation of choreographer. But only recently I found out that Leslie Lewis of Colonial Cousins is his son.

  • This is considered the best dance of bollywood and undoubtedly it is . This is almost 8 minutes song and after 6 minutes this song has music only music and not lyrics and vjmala dances in a way that my personal fav madhuri too will fade out.All sort of musical instruments are played and vj alone matches all , her body swings ,every movement is so graceful and after 7th minute she has to move round till the song completes

  • Although I think Madhuri has no comparison, I would have to agree with you, Sid. Every expression reflects the mood perfectly. Her frenzy and energy is amazing.
