Ralph is really something else! He is so fluid and musical always. No way. He can play anything because he is a Musician because he plays also vibes and piano and he's a master composer. I know what I'm saying because he's been my private teacher at PIT back in 93. I miss that period so much. And now thanks to you tube I can listen and watch him again. Everybody should listen him closely

Humphrey first came to my attention around 1977 with a group called "Caldera". I knew if he could sit in for Carlos Vega he had to be serious. Had no idea he played with Zappa. His style reminds me of P. Erskine -intense drummer.

Ralph was one of my teachers at P.I.T. in Hollywood , Ca. Ralph`s class dealt with odd time . The guy is a master at it . But , and he always stressed this , do not inflict your shit on the music . If it is simple 4/4 play what you need to play , not what you LIKE to play . Ralph plays music where his odd time and polyrhythmic knowledge is useful . The rest of us usually play more pedestrian gigs . And if we try to use this shit on our gigs we will get fired ....haha

Wow what a band ! Ralph Humphrey's is incredible. I feel embarrased to say this as I've drummed for many many years but I just had no idea how good Ralph Humphry's is. I've missed out on all these years.......
