  • ok so i saw the whole series and what has me hung up is kara a cylon or not, i think she is can someone clear this up for me

  • @hjaimeg She's not a cylon, but after that it's up to the viewer to decide what she really is.

  • @irishdevil she's a frakkin cylon

  • @hjaimeg She's an angel

  • 1 person is a cylon

  • One dislike? I am disappoint.

  • @boonsell they probably missed the thumbs up lol

  • fascinating

  • Bear McCreary is the kind of musician that knows what is beautiful

  • I have to make a battlestar music playlist before I read shakespear...this could take all night...

  • This reminds me when Boomer's baby came out then it was killed and then it went to the revenge climax theme.

  • This series explores human nature and the nature of the universe and our role in our own destiny. Of life, the meaning of it, religion, science, everything connected together. Everybody having a part to play. In this world we can somtimes feel like we dont matter, another cog in the machine nothing but a number. That why we love battlestar, its everything humanity is, the good and the bad rolled into a TV show. There will never be anything like it again.

  • @TheAtomicusBomb fuckin correct. i have already watched it twice an eill watch the third time

  • @TheAtomicusBomb Well... you have to admit there's a pretty heavy emphasis on American foreign policy in post-911.

  • @TheAtomicusBomb

Couldn't be put in a better way

  • this song remind me the cylon proverb of all of this has happen an will happen again

  • I have only cried three times in my life.

    1) My mother's death when I was 10

    2) My father's death when I was 19

    3) Listening to this song after watching the series finale 5 minutes ago

  • @YardmanCJ and lots of times when you were a baby lol

  • Some songs you can picture people dancing to.

This makes me feel as if it's the music that is dancing.

  • @Scrimpton Well put and very on the mark, as far as my subjective experience listening to 'The Shape of Things to Come' goes.

  • @Scrimpton Beautifully said!

  • Amazing Track ! Bear is the man ! Hes done it again with the walking dead theme . I hope he gets more respect and fame for the genius he is !

    SO SAY WE ALL !

PS This track is mind blowing . It reaches into your very SOUL !

  • "Oh my gods, bear is in the fraking ship!"

  • just wow

  • 0:00

    :)

  • This song holds so many powerful memories related to the BSG saga I can't help but cry while listening to it. Such grace, such beauty, such transcendental perfection. McCreary composing this was part of God's plan.

  • @GeddoeBlake So say we all.

  • Cavil dislikes this song. :(

He can't see the shape of things to come...

  • @DeusExMJ12 REALLY?! How dare you make a joke about the dislike bar!

  • This Cue, "Passacaglia" and "Allegro" sound a bit like something Philip Glass would write... not that theres anything wrong with that. Love Glass as well... ;)

  • @kuribayashi84 LOL I didn't know McCreary before, but I think this is much better than Glass.

  • I came twice.

  • Whats that theme they play in the episode "Black Market"? It's the one when they show Lee with Shivon on caprica before the fall.

  • I kind of want this to be the music that plays at my wedding, if I ever get married.

  • @SiriusLoveGirl I know someone who had bsg music at his wedding

I might want it too but i dunno how it'll hold up against time. Probably well though :D

  • @JediNg135 That's the beauty of great music. It never goes out of style. :)

  • @SiriusLoveGirl A "frakking" miracle is what this song is :)) any1 would want it :D

  • @SiriusLoveGirl if i get married im wearing a Galactica officer's uniform!

  • Zero Dislikes! That's right!

  • It sucked that they ended the show but if they didn't it would have just moved deeper and deeper into that convoluted Final Five/God plot, which was putting the series on life support for most of the fourth season, broken up once in a while by Gaeta and his pimp hand of excellent planning and scheming.

  • @AndyHocvs The mutiny was a good storyarc. Even though it lasted 2 episodes.

  • @AndyHocvs , *slow clap* for Gaeta and his pimp hand of excellent planning and scheming. Gaeta turned out to be AWESOME, from New Caprica to the Rebellion to knowing when to let go with dignity.

  • Fracking Awesome

  • Fucking awesome song!!! I started to watch this show because a friend o f mine played this song for me, what a show! I'm in the middle of season 2 now - A NEW BATTLESTAR!!!! This show keeps getting better and better. Hate to admit it, cause I usually don't like sci fi shows. This is my fav. TV show now.

  • @BBSnarky90 i wish to see your face when you finished the show.

the final is the best idea for a serial ever.

  • @sevkets Just finished the series... What a show. What an ending. Totally unexpected. Loved the episode where Kara plays "the song" on the piano with notes Hera drew for her. THIS IS THE BEST TV SERIES I HAVE EVER WATCHED. Now I feel that I will be comparing all TV series with this one.

  • Zero dislikes: now THAT is saying something.

  • lots of repeating patterns.

what is the kind of this song?

  • @sevkets It's in the style of a passacaglia, to the best of my knowledge.

  • @sevkets minimalism or something?

  • THIS MUSIC IS HNOAWUPDAKS SO DAMN AWESOME. Gah, I want to watch the series again Dx

  • The song which summarizes Battlestar Galactica. And humanity ? I think so.

  • i want this song to be playing while i am on my death bed!!

  • When I think back on Battlestar, I remember the music, first and foremost. While I loved everything about the show, many parts more than the music, the music is what tied the emotions and characters all together, and it sticks with you. It's beautiful, managing to invoke feelings of joy and sorrow nearly simultaneously. To me, Bear McCreary's soundtrack represents all that I loved of Battlestar. It is peaceful, intense, joyous and mournful, and even hopeful. It's perfection.

  • Over 40,000 have listened to this song and 0 people disliked it. I think that is proof enough how amazing this is.

  • O..love the string melody interplay, that's Y I Bcame a volinist-THE MUSIC

  • Comment removed

  • i am fit to burst when i hear this music. it is so beautiful.

  • Reminds me of Gaius FRAKKING Baltar

  • liked

  • music is as good as the show

  • I'd like to take a moment to note that this piece has been viewed 45,540(+) times over two years and to date has received 0 dislikes. See, the internet CAN be a beautiful place.

  • 2:10 - 2:22 is absolutely beautiful. Favorite part of the song.

  • 173 people knows the shape of things to come

  • This song is heard in Season 1 and again (variation) in the series finale when Adama is seen looking out over Africa next to Roslins grave. Sad to see this great show go..

  • 0 among us are cylons. I find that hard to believe

  • Bear McCreary is a FUCKING GENIUS.

  • @DjAotaka You know it.

  • @DjAotaka Rather FRAKKIN' GENIUS. ;)

  • @DjAotaka Correction: "Bear McCreary is a Frack'in Genius"

  • @ogdew Correction Correction: "Bear McCreary is a Frakkin' Genius"

  • I've had a few of my friends listen to this song, and they don't understand why I love this song so much. This is the first song that seems to speak to me. Words can't describe it

  • @Ghats212

It was the end of Season one, Battlestar was still a perfect series before they ruined it.

All hell was about to break loose, Adama was Shot,

Gaius(abit crazy) was standing in a glorious opera house on Kobol(Ruins in reality).

The song just fit will all the perfection that season 1 and the miniseries was.

  • @Ghats212 They never seen the show. Part of the reason this piece holds the power it does is because viewers know the events and emotions from the story that are associated with this piece. However, it sounds beautiful regardless.

  • @JediNg135 I heard this song before I started watching the show and I completely loved it as much as I do now that I've seen the show.

  • @JediNg135 Well actually, I fell in love with this song BEFORE watching the show (in fact, I decided to watch the show BECAUSE of the soundtrack...). So yes, I agree with you: it is beautiful because of the scene it's "linked" to but not only.

  • @JediNg135 dunno about u guys but this music makes me think about somebody taking control of things in his life and reaching for power and perfection in a highly coordinated manner just like a Matador (bull fighter) plays with an enraged bull with graceful perfectly coordinated moves making his fight against this bull seem effortless. (ahh I just got carried away by the music lol )

  • @Ghats212

I don't think it has anything to do with the show - like the guy below me thinks - the music does "speak" to me too. It makes me think of growth, possibility, hope, genius, and how we could be one step away from the unimaginable. Corny? Perhaps, but this song is great in the background when you are thinking creatively.

  • @Ghats212 Thats god damn right...

    They never saw show...

They were saying this about Mass Effect 2 OSTs and they never played it...

    Same goes for this...

  • Anyway this song is way too good for not listening to it 5 times over...

  • @Ghats212 I remember the first time I heard this was with Gaius wandering around the swamp and then suddenly you hear this angelic piece and then Six lays it down that ife has a melody, Gaius. A rhythm of notes that become your existence once played in harmony.... Just astounding. So I'm privileged to know that and have seen it , but it takes absolutely nothing away from this piece.

  • @Ghats212 its because you know the shape of things to come.

or did come..now that the show is past tense..unfortunately..

  • 0 ppl are too sad to realize what a masterpiece this series and soundtrack is

  • I need more music like this.

  • When I first heard this theme, it's when I really really truly knew this show was something special.

  • @CarrotAtHeart me too

  • dude i am re watching the series and i just finished season three. best episode ever. i still got cold chills after know exactly what happens. THIS IS THE SINGLE GREATEST SHOW EVER MADE!

  • @ThePoe537 When they show the planet? I know it gives me goosebumps every time, too!

  • o people are gay

  • I have this belief that this is the very greatest piece ever composed for string instruments.

I have yet to be contradicted.

  • beethoven of 21 century...

  • @xjimdim

    totally agree

  • I love it how the shape of things to come turned out to be Cylon-Human hybrids; ie., us.

  • @le0jay yeah but I am kind of dissapointed with my lack of cylon abilities

  • memories...

  • "Life has a melody, Gaius. A rhythm of notes which become your existence once played in harmony with God's plan."

Okay, I copy-pasted this from Wikipedia because I didn't remember the exact wording :D ... but still ... combined with this music, it was such an awesome, unforgettable scene.

  • the memories evoking to me when i hear this song make me feel both bad and excellent amazing track fitted so well with the whole context of the series =D

  • viva baltar!!!

  • "When the sun comes from behind the mountains, it's almost heavenly. It reminds me of you."

  • @TFerra Excuse me, there's something in my eye....

  • sick strings

  • :) Aaah my favorite song from BSG...

  • Wasn't this reused in the very last episode, at the very end?

  • Yes, Bear rearranged it in the season 4 track "An Easterly View".

He also included it in "Assault On The Colony", about 13 minutes into the track, or 2 minutes before it ends.

  • @JulyForToday

Yep, you are correct... thank you!

  • my baby daughter was born around this time.

every time i listen to it, i think of her. to me, she is the "shape of things to come."

it's amazing how having a baby girl can change your outlook overnight.

  • @magog1138 ...Is your wife a Cylon?

  • - Do you ever watch Battlestar Galactica?

    - No.

    - No? Then you are an idiot.

    — Dwight K. Schrute

  • Hahaha. That was awesome. Much like the show and soundtrack.

  • Amen

  • @margc2 what episode ??? :D

  • @Cheateh s03e17 - Cocktails

  • @margc2 In my case its almost allways like this:

Me: Do you ever watch Battlestar Galactica?

    friend: No..i hate star trek

answer option 2: No i hate silly alien movies

answer option 3: No.. the name sounds lame

answer option 4: No..i dont like Star Wars

answer option 5: No.i hate stupid space series..but im watching StarGate (real)

  • @sparrowlt

"Me: Do you ever watch Battlestar Galactica?

    friend: No..i hate star trek"

Holy shit! That's the exact reply I got from my sister. Though I phrased the question differently, and In Norwegian but it shouldn't matter. It's a dumb reply. A part of me died inside, I suppose it was the love and respect for my sister. Ha!

  • @sparrowlt Yeah, I think the creators of the show may have done themselves a huge disservice by naming it "Battlestar Galactica". The mere title probably scared off many potential viewers who "don't like sci-fi" per se but would probably have been hooked if they'd just given the show a chance.

  • @margc2 Guess this means I'm an idiot. :) :P

  • @4forevergirl4 No worries though. It's still not too late to fix it. ;)

  • isn't this a variation of passacaglia ?

  • yes...there are at lest 4 different versions of all the really great and popular songs you hear from this show that Bear Mccreary did but they are all pretty good....I like the ones without any acient words in them the best because then I don't have to be reminded that "they all believe in multiple Gods in this show" or "no God at all" no offense :)

  • none taken :)

  • the greatest piece of music I have ever heard on TV. Just stunning...

  • An impressive construction of art that shines on every point of the human race, f humanity. Clinging to belief and an insperation that words can not describe.

    So say we all!

  • It's such an incredibly clever piece of composition - it's so different in tone to the music used to depict humanity in the show. I find it very insightful that the Human-Cylons get the most traditional "classical" piece of music to represent their growth...

    Fracking Genius!

  • theres a few great songs that came from this show.... i never thought that i would miss watching something....

  • This is the only show I miss watching.

  • Do you by any chance know what the soundtrack is where the battle drums sound as they are getting ready to go into battle?

  • That's Prelude to War on the Season 2 soundtrack.

  • Me too!

  • Comment removed

  • @JediNg135 This is the only show I simply have to rewatch despite having seen it in its entirety 3 times now. I'll be so happy to share this with my kids when the times comes, and I am happy to have shared the series as it aired with my future husband.

  • @JediNg135 I'd agree with you with the deserved exception of Firefly

  • Best show ever ..... ♥

  • @addair0routh So say we all!

  • Best peice of music I've ever heard.

  • AWSOME

  • absolutely! bsg is too good to have motherfrakkers like us spoil it for you!

and thanks wordofsenate for the recommendations, will check out vivaldi.

  • thank you so much, I love this piece :) :) :)

    BSG is amazing :)

It's just a bit hard to not be spoilered while reading on BSG when just having started watching the 1st season :D

  • Dude, you gotta stay away from these comment sections until you finish the series.

  • I'm very inexperienced when it comes to classical music, but this song is amazing. Can anyone tell me what type of music by any composers this resembles, or what style Bear Mcreary used when writing this, so I can look up similar types of music? Thanks.

  • Vivaldi (is that the right spelling) has some stuff kind of like this. Passacaglia, Allegro, and Violence and Variations are all based on this, part of various BSG soundtracks.

  • I was just going to say Vivaldi. And you spelled it right. This is good stuff. Bear is a master of his art.

  • Thanks. I love this piece a great deal as well =]

  • Amazing~
