This series explores human nature and the nature of the universe and our role in our own destiny. Of life, the meaning of it, religion, science, everything connected together. Everybody having a part to play. In this world we can somtimes feel like we dont matter, another cog in the machine nothing but a number. That why we love battlestar, its everything humanity is, the good and the bad rolled into a TV show. There will never be anything like it again.
This song holds so many powerful memories related to the BSG saga I can't help but cry while listening to it. Such grace, such beauty, such transcendental perfection. McCreary composing this was part of God's plan.
This Cue, "Passacaglia" and "Allegro" sound a bit like something Philip Glass would write... not that theres anything wrong with that. Love Glass as well... ;)
It sucked that they ended the show but if they didn't it would have just moved deeper and deeper into that convoluted Final Five/God plot, which was putting the series on life support for most of the fourth season, broken up once in a while by Gaeta and his pimp hand of excellent planning and scheming.
@AndyHocvs , *slow clap* for Gaeta and his pimp hand of excellent planning and scheming. Gaeta turned out to be AWESOME, from New Caprica to the Rebellion to knowing when to let go with dignity.
Fucking awesome song!!! I started to watch this show because a friend o f mine played this song for me, what a show! I'm in the middle of season 2 now - A NEW BATTLESTAR!!!! This show keeps getting better and better. Hate to admit it, cause I usually don't like sci fi shows. This is my fav. TV show now.
@sevkets Just finished the series... What a show. What an ending. Totally unexpected. Loved the episode where Kara plays "the song" on the piano with notes Hera drew for her. THIS IS THE BEST TV SERIES I HAVE EVER WATCHED. Now I feel that I will be comparing all TV series with this one.
When I think back on Battlestar, I remember the music, first and foremost. While I loved everything about the show, many parts more than the music, the music is what tied the emotions and characters all together, and it sticks with you. It's beautiful, managing to invoke feelings of joy and sorrow nearly simultaneously. To me, Bear McCreary's soundtrack represents all that I loved of Battlestar. It is peaceful, intense, joyous and mournful, and even hopeful. It's perfection.
I'd like to take a moment to note that this piece has been viewed 45,540(+) times over two years and to date has received 0 dislikes. See, the internet CAN be a beautiful place.
This song is heard in Season 1 and again (variation) in the series finale when Adama is seen looking out over Africa next to Roslins grave. Sad to see this great show go..
I've had a few of my friends listen to this song, and they don't understand why I love this song so much. This is the first song that seems to speak to me. Words can't describe it
@Ghats212 They never seen the show. Part of the reason this piece holds the power it does is because viewers know the events and emotions from the story that are associated with this piece. However, it sounds beautiful regardless.
@JediNg135 Well actually, I fell in love with this song BEFORE watching the show (in fact, I decided to watch the show BECAUSE of the soundtrack...). So yes, I agree with you: it is beautiful because of the scene it's "linked" to but not only.
@JediNg135 dunno about u guys but this music makes me think about somebody taking control of things in his life and reaching for power and perfection in a highly coordinated manner just like a Matador (bull fighter) plays with an enraged bull with graceful perfectly coordinated moves making his fight against this bull seem effortless. (ahh I just got carried away by the music lol )
I don't think it has anything to do with the show - like the guy below me thinks - the music does "speak" to me too. It makes me think of growth, possibility, hope, genius, and how we could be one step away from the unimaginable. Corny? Perhaps, but this song is great in the background when you are thinking creatively.
@Ghats212 I remember the first time I heard this was with Gaius wandering around the swamp and then suddenly you hear this angelic piece and then Six lays it down that ife has a melody, Gaius. A rhythm of notes that become your existence once played in harmony.... Just astounding. So I'm privileged to know that and have seen it , but it takes absolutely nothing away from this piece.
dude i am re watching the series and i just finished season three. best episode ever. i still got cold chills after know exactly what happens. THIS IS THE SINGLE GREATEST SHOW EVER MADE!

@sparrowlt Yeah, I think the creators of the show may have done themselves a huge disservice by naming it "Battlestar Galactica". The mere title probably scared off many potential viewers who "don't like sci-fi" per se but would probably have been hooked if they'd just given the show a chance.
yes...there are at lest 4 different versions of all the really great and popular songs you hear from this show that Bear Mccreary did but they are all pretty good....I like the ones without any acient words in them the best because then I don't have to be reminded that "they all believe in multiple Gods in this show" or "no God at all" no offense :)
An impressive construction of art that shines on every point of the human race, f humanity. Clinging to belief and an insperation that words can not describe.
It's such an incredibly clever piece of composition - it's so different in tone to the music used to depict humanity in the show. I find it very insightful that the Human-Cylons get the most traditional "classical" piece of music to represent their growth...

It was the end of Season one, Battlestar was still a perfect series before they ruined it.
All hell was about to break loose, Adama was Shot,
