  • :50 TROMBONE

  • lol 2:20 is a D above double C, he plays it an octave over what's written in the chart.... what a monster

  • @hahaha442 daaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmn

  • What style of jazz would you call this?

  • @AnchovyRun asdfghjklsiuvbdviubcxv. That's the style.

Nah, this would probably be Third Stream Jazz because of the higher emphasis placed on composition rather than improvisation (at the beginning especially). Then, it just becomes plain old swing. Most of the Big Phat Band's stuff is swing.

  • @lwm3398 Thanks man, the swing part was what I was talking about

  • This is my 3rd or 2nd cousin!!!!

  • I really love that trombone soli after the saxes.

  • @Cheeseguy88 Yes! This x1000. The trombone Soli at 0:50 sounds so awesome.

  • Haolianish.

  • This is a really fun piece to play on bass trombone. :D

  • @cheeseguy88 haha if you must know i made all state in florida and i made first chair all county in orange county. now you must know where that is where disney is and universal and seaworld lol and i dominate it with my trumpet ninja skills . actually im going to all state on thursday only 4 more days!!!!!!

  • @trumpetplayergirl haha good for you, similar story here!

  • The triangle player is the best [/sarcasm]. No, but seriously, I'm pretty sure it was the saxophonists who dominate in this particular tune (being said by a bassist).

  • Wayne Bergeron makes me jealous

  • TROMBONE FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @SCHILLERis1337 trumpet players are beast (being said by a girl trumpet player that made all state in the 8th grade) XD

  • sounds like Danny Elfman on meth :p

  • Epic trombone solo

  • Sounds like Tom and Jerry!

  • I think the trombone parts are the best

  • @richardknight1000 Ugh.... Typical trombone thinking your the best. Jk :P

  • @TheKreampuff100 nah mate TRUMPETS think they're the best..... and I am one :D

  • @MrZoobidibop I, a trumpet player, AM the best. I'm the best because I play the trumpet.

  • @SCHILLERis1337 the sax beat the trumpet anyday

  • Some members from the top Jazz band at my school are playing this for a prism concert. I'll be sure to record it and post it as a video response. :)

  • excuse me while i go change my pants <3

  • i have cream all over my pants now

  • Saxophone at it's finest :)

  • I looooove this saxophone part. So much fun, and just listening to the trombone part is great too =)

  • 2:20 Eargasm @_@

  • and i gizzed in my pants.

  • As a brass player, my lips hurt just listening to this, but DAMN that guy can play!

  • I am a woodwind player myself, but that trombone solo.... Uhhhhh it sent chills up my toes :D You cant find them like this very much anymore!!!

  • Today, class, we will learn about the staccato note.

  • I will never know how that man writes such great music. WHAT a genius! The standard of the performers is stunning too. I wish i were them :D

  • Brilliant!

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!!!

  • I really want someone to make a video of Elmer Fudd hunting Bugs with this as the music. :)

  • @SheRicoSuave Right! I even got to play this song with them about 5 years ago and it was epic!

  • Wayne Bergeron is the only trumpet player I can listen to play high all day. All others get annoying VERY quickly!

  • @PalabraViva3 Apologies - I didn't mean to vote your comment down. I clicked in the window and mistakenly clicked the thumbs down button.

  • 2:20 that note is a 'Q'

  • @TheSBongo It's amazing that he nails it as hard as he does - a double D, specifically. One octave above high D (above the staff).

But then again, it IS Wayne Bergeron. :D

  • @trptmbalmer I play the trumpet too and LOVE wayne bergeron, but I'm confused about the "double D" he plays at the end if an octave above the first C off the staff is a regular C, aren't all notes above that considered double? So the octave of the first high C would be double C...So logically wouldn't everything above that be triple? Just a thought haha. It confuses me lol.

  • @spazzydude9 The first C off the staff is "high" C. Everything in the forthcoming octave is "high". So the G above that is "high G," etc. The next octave beyond that is "double". So Wayne hits a high A followed by a double D.

What's actually more impressive is the high A - which is one of the toughest notes on the horn to nail securely.

  • @trptmbalmer Theres no such thing as 'high c' or 'double c'. theres C4 which is middle C (one ledger line below treble clef staff), C5 (an octave above C4, C6, C7, etc. the Ds would then be D4, D5, D6, etc.

  • @TheSBongo it's actually a 'Q sharp'

  • @TheSBongo You know, in 6th grade, I invented a running joke at the school of the Q flat scale. You just randomly hit valves and went up and down in pitch. Sounded pretty terrible but it was fun.

  • I am playing this in my highschool senior jazz band!!!!! And we don't brutally murder it! It's actually pretty fun :P

  • @MusicIsLife1070

My high school's also playing this. It IS very fun! :D

  • My jaw dropped as soon as this started...

  • as much as I love this piece its still hard to perform those high c's on trombone catch me off guard

  • Gordon Goodwin is a master at the art of Jazz. His pieces never disappoint. The Trombone solo is also to die for. I would give anything to play like that.
