  • The blond had an expression on her face like "WTF?"

  • I read Ric Flair's book, and one of the models standing beside him is actually the future wife of Ricky Steamboat.

  • Flair like always is both of the hook and the best to ever do it, my question is what part of town did he ride through and pickup those 2 ho's.

  • Why can't I find whole videos of the old matches? I guess when Vince M bought the rights to the older NWA stuff, he destroyed everything great about classic wrestling.

  • Thx @timg138 for uploading this!

  • Right after this, Ric Flair got laid immediately since he was already in his briefs.

  • Wow, he's cute too. :D <3

  • steamboat always looked splendid.

  • I remember this and thought DAMN!!!He tore his clothes Off in front of his ladies and he ends we aren't even EVEN.lol

  • I remember THIS ! I LOVED it THEN, and LOVE The HELL out of it NOW !

  • steamboat already and always incredibly hot.

  • flair tantrums are the best

  • Steamboat's mic skills are not good.

  • @breezeman199 this was 1978, though... back then, alotta guys were more down to earth, joe-schmo types on the mic. he improved as the dragon later on. however, his in-ring was always fkn priceless.....

  • This was wrestling baby!

  • @gvader DAMN RIGHT

  • they did it ten years later and it was still money

  • ROFL this was funny, this same thing happened to Ric in there fued in 89. He makes fun of Steamboat, parades his women in front of him. Ric ends up with his clothes ripped off.

  • Comment removed

  • Rickey Steamboat was already a great wrestler before he got to the WWF. Taking on the "dirtiest player in the game".

  • steamboat was so hot

  • Ric better give him his money! he smacked the whooooooooooo outta him

  • Rick Steamboat was 25 in 1978

  • Them girls took a ride on space mountain Woooooo!

  • again people comparing then to now. idiots!

  • @carl22069 Flair talks about this taping in his book. A few interesting notes: the bruises on Steamboats face were done in the locker room months before with the help of Harley Race, some blades and sandpaper. Steamboat sat in chair and let them mess his face up to add realism to the angle. He said his face was discolored for almost an entire year. Also...the blond girl here would go on to become Steamboat's wife.

  • Nothing's more funnier than Flair screaming while just in his underwear.

  • Nobody could cut a promo or interview like Flair - I'll put him up against any Hollywood actor any day.

  • @mabood1212 Thankyou for saying what needed to be said

  • Flair...the best ever...

  • Feuds don't come like this anymore. Wow.

Flair got raped on National TV.

  • flair really IS the greatest wrestler of all time

  • It's a good thing Vince McMahon didn't see this, he'd have to had to fire Steamboat for choking Flair with his tie thirty years ago! LOL

Great video of a classic Flair/Steamboat moment in wrestling!

  • @craig1653 That's assuming they would have made TV. Lord knows we can't take precious time away from the millionth Cena/Orton or Cena /Triple H feud to give time to the younger wrestlers.

  • I was 8 yrs old-albout to turn 9-at the time of this classic feud. Wow! What memories to stumble upon on youtube this sunday morning.............Bob Caudle-#1 all-time favorite of mine. Ric & Ricky-what more can be said about these two? The Best ever rivarly(although Ric & Dusty are for me a very close 2nd..). This remains the best wrestling show ever & during this time-the show had the best of its various opening theme songs over the years-"Good King Bad" by George Benson. Thanks for posting!

  • That is great theme music heading into the commercial.

  • now THIS is how you properly construct an angle for a feud...2 performers with unbelieveable chemistry upping the ante with each other week after week....that's why Mid-Atlantic was so good back then...this wasn't some feud thrown together 2 weeks before a PPV and then discarded like WWE tries to pass off nowadays

  • Who has been beat up in suits more than Ric? LMAO!!! He was down to this tighties!!!

  • steaMBOATS REAL NAME RICHARD BLOOD WAS A VERY GOOD FRIEND OF RIC FLAIRS,HARLEY RACE DID THE REAL DAMAGE TO HIM IN THE DRESSING ROOM WITH SAND PAPER...READ RIC FLAIRS BOOK TO BE THE MAN!

  • @donksteamboat and flair didn't always get along and flair did punch him in the eye you're a liar!

  • Steamboat was never a great mic guy, but he seemed so shy, even afraid, looking down. His natural charisma grew as he got better in the ring...

  • Nothing like the good old days, I used to really enjoy the good old days when you knew a knee drop was really a knee drop and a pile driver was the same- nowadays its all bull shit personified.

  • flair was right. he made steamboat a big star.they worked the same angle ten years later when steamboat went back to the nwa and became the nwa champ

  • Natch could sure do that pissed off act better than anybody. He could have picked a couple of better looking hookers though, lol!!!

  • @Warchief01 one of those hookers as you called them ended up being steamboats wife...it's true oh it's true Flair did fuck them all!

  • I used to watch wrestling like this and go to the skating rink to play arcade games like tag team wrestling and mat mania

  • man, this is a 100 times better than the crap that wwe passes off as wrestling today

  • LOL!!! He name dropped Joe Namath.

  • ENJOY THE MOMENT MY FRIENDS!

  • Ahhh.. those were the days. The WWE wishes they had heat like this.

  • You're exactly right,Jimmy, and Mid-Atlantic/World Wide WSrestling has more exciting wrestling action in a 9-minute youtube clip than the WWE has in a 2-hour show. Flair seemed to have a knack for rubbing his opponents' faces in the concrete because subsequently he and Greg Valentine did the same thing to Roddy Piper and along with Flair's Horsemen buddies, the same thing to Ricky Morton and for those of you who may not know, promoter Jim Crockett was the president of the NWA for a short while.

  • Bob Caudil is like .."yeah yeah say it louder...yeah"!!!!

    sick old man...he was classic!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is why mid-atlantic had a 10 year run where it was the best int the business and arguably the best promotion ever. A classic.

  • I remember watching this on tv. It was the first time I saw a guys pants pulled off on tv. Flair was the US champ and I believe 1/2 mid atlantic tag team champ at the time.

  • damn flair hehe!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • This is when pple still has passion 4 the business.

  • 'YOU WILL PAAYY,,, SHUT UP"

  • "These girls are stunned." LOL!

  • John Holmes inteviewing Steamboat. This was before he got AIDS, I think.

  • Which one is Flair's wife?

  • Wow @ wrestling back then. I'd LOVE for it to be this way again.

  • no?

  • Ricky whipped his ass! I might have to grab my boss by the tie and smack the shit out of him next time he accuses me of stealing time!

  • Steamboat Steamboat you're old now man.....what are you gunna do now hunh?......./watch your back man, paybacks are a bitch!

  • And that there is whats wrong with wrestling today. No pyros, no gigantic arenas, no outlandish storytelling. Just a podium to talk smack and a small ring (and audience) to back it up. What an awesome time to be a kid and wrestling fan....

  • I think ric was jelous of steamboat

  • in fact i see blue leather on the second belt..that's the mid atlantic tag title..i believe he and john stud won those that year....

  • World tag team title. You can go to Kayfabememories. com and check it out.

  • u sure?? the blue leather was the mid atlantics...i'll check it out though...

  • Not that I'd know (since I'm not familiar with Mid-Atlantic) but I believe Flair started to say "I'm the US...(champion)" at about 5:49.

  • that is one nice U.S. title

  • the one Black Jack Mulligan wore was on black leather......

they switched it for a year after 83 to the smaller "regional" look...then switched it the "10lbs of silver" around mid 84'....

i believe flair is holding the TV title with it..or it might be one half of the mid atlantic tag title....

  • The MAN!!!

  • man flair was born to be world champ!the way he carried himself,i'm surprised that they didn't give him the title earlier

  • awesome storytelling!wrestling how it used to be!

  • I love how easily Steamboat was able to tear Flair's suit off.

Ric must have bought that suit off the rack!

  • Notice how the girls in the audience scream when the pants come off. Lol, wrestling seems like it was fun back then.

And then they cut away to the porno music.

  • classic stuff.Flair-Steamboat is one of THE classic fueds of ALL time. And David Crockett looks about 18 years old in this video.

  • "Just like that, baby doll..."

I SO need to use that line someday.

  • Awe. Some.

  • HAHA..Ric Flair is classic

  • This was the best wrestling ever this was before Dusty came in and ruined eveything.

  • Nothing today compares to this. Great. Whooo!

  • I'd love to see the clip (During this same time) when Black Jack Mulligan tore up Flair's robe.

  • Wonder who the woman was in the commercial at the end of the clip behind the sewing machine.

  • Ric Flair getting his clothes ripped off in the middle of the ring on TV down to his briefs and long socks, neck tie still on...just about 10x better than any angle the VinnyMac Co. has going on today

  • @razzledingle that seems to happeen a lot in rics career

  • we never saw nwa wrestling in western canada. it is great to see these legengs in there prime. thanks for posting these amazing vidoes.

  • Steamboat was a mid-carder in Mid-Atlantic when Flair saw him and asked to do a program with him. He knew the potential of what could be a great feud. He was right. Flair and Steamboat had some of the best matches from 1978 to 1983, then later in 1989.

  • steamboat married one of ric flairs blonde girls . stole him from flair .

  • ric flair is the greatest wrestler ever! when he goes balistic he makes it convincing

  • Flair is one of the best for sure. Steamboat was the best Face ever!

  • This is one of the greatest angles of all time, Mid-Atlantic from 78-84 and no disrespect to other territories was the best of the best.

  • Holy fucking shit is that classic!!!

  • bob caudle and david crocket nuff said .

  • Old enough to remember this. Mid Atlantic Wrestling every Saturday at 3!!

  • Ric Flair was way ahead of his time "Who is the number one man in the world tell em girls? NATURE BOY!!!" cant believe this is 1978

  • "Make yourself useful!" LMAO!!!!!

  • In Flair's book, he says one of the women in this clip ended up marrying Ricky Steamboat in real life. Flair also said that him and Steamboat decided to do the clothes-ripping scene again some ten years later because alot of the new fans didn't see it when they did it in '78.

  • I'm pretty sure it was the blonde that Steamboat married.

  • it was.

  • Classic NWA footage. WWE owns the entire NWA library. They need to show the rest of JCP programming, outside of NWA World Championship Wrestling.

  • ah, back when wrestling was good

Flair and Steamboat could tell more story with one interview and 20 minutes of wrestling than the WWE can with two hours of segments

  • @uxbnkuribo LOL that is truth the wwe the wrestlers talk and talk and tal.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • Who's that commentator? He's good.

  • That's Bob Caudle. Still alive and kicking today, he goes to some events around the country still.

  • That's not Bob Caudle.

  • that was a $3000 suit.

  • was this mid atlantic?

  • yes it was! also shown on world wide wrestling

  • I wonder how old Ric Flair was in 1978?

  • He was already 29.

  • @timg138 ric flair was 29 years old in 1978 he was born in 1949

  • @timg138 wow. That mean his best years was mid 30's to early 40's. Incredible. Flair may used backstage politics but people cant deny he is still one of the best wrestlers ever.

  • @Allofthem1 Ric was only 29 Brother !

  • The blonde is the future (and now former) Mrs. Ricky Steamboat.

  • "How about you, Bob? What's your wife doing tonight?"

    Classic Flair!

  • thats what wrestling today doesnt have.telling a story.the fans loved it and they didnt even wrestle

  • Vegas, Frisco, New York, Rome, Chicago, Memphis, Dothan, Jonesboro, Arkadelphia, Jasper, Gadsden...

  • I've been a Ric Flair fan since 1981, and I hadn't seen this clip anywhere until just now! I don't know why WWE 24/7 hasn't shown this stuff. This should've at the very least been on the DVD WWE put out now that they own all the old NWA archives. The video shows just how far back Ric had his thing together. He was already in a league by himself as seen here in this 1978 footage. This helps younger fans better understand why Ric is a true legend.

  • What, are you kidding me? Look at Flair at 4:01. This man could sell anything, anytime, anywhere. He was the perfect foil for any babyface. God bless Flair.

  • Steamboat ripping off Ric Flair's clothes was so funny! He embarassed him right on the spot! That was really when the feud went over the top in '78! Flair's women look like rejects from Charlie's Angels, copying Farrah Fawcett's famous hair style!

  • where did ric flair rent these women from? j.c. penney's?

  • Actually one of those women was Steamboat's wife in real life. LOL

  • Both girls were from a local modeling agency. They were given an assignment to appear at "Crocket Productions," literally having no idea what to expect.

And yes, the blonde and Steamboat hooked up shortly after and are still married today.

  • @ Ouphe Actually, Bonnie Steamboat divorced Rick a few years ago. In fact, she actually tried to sue for the rights to the "Ricky Steamboat" name as part of the settlement.

  • @Sargebri

    I didn't know that. Thanks.

  • That was the best I ever seen. Steamboat straight slapped 'em

  • Wow, great stuff. A year before I was born. I wish I was around to experience that true raw feel. I still love the ol school graphics/music.

Who's that chick in the commerical though before the video cuts off? She's hott! (though I'm sure she's old now!)

  • Did you notice that David Crockett is clean shaven? He looks pretty good.

  • I think Ric Flair is one of the greatest heels of all time, right up there with The Sheik, Ted DiBiase and Mr Fuji.

Fantastic memories of a fantastic time.

  • What else can you say!? Just incredible and it really shows what a lost art pro wrestling was compared to Vince's Sports Entertainment.

  • by far the greatest classic video i have seen, clean and clear.... showing the true legends..... so many years and still Flair Rules !!!!! Flair by far has lasted every wrestler i know and still comes in the ring even in his age... no one can compare!

  • i saw alot of these matches in richmond va,they were great!!!

  • And so the Steamboat-Flair fued went on to produce GREAT matches for the next 25 years!

  • 2 of the best if not the best what an angle PERFECTION.

  • Pure classic material! This video shows us why Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat were among the greatest ever. I watched Mid Atlantic Wrestling as a kid and it blows away any of the "wrestling" today.

  • That was when wrestling was wrestling!

  • ^^^ Awesome indeed. Is there a rating higher than 5 stars?

  • That is indeed the Bonnie Steamboat.

  • bonnie steamboat on the left?

  • Thanks very much for posting this. Check out my JCP playlist by clicking on my screen name and go to where it says playlists

  • Samething again in 1989.

  • Awesome. Nothing else needs to be said.

  • I would rather watch MACW than this crap on wwe nowdays.

  • Same here.
