WHY ABBA? Abba were nowhere near as famous anywhere else as Oz- I guess something in their music resonates with Aussies. Plus, a few of their songs were used in two of Australia's most famous, timeless and defining films 'Muriel's Wedding' and 'Priscilla'. @Elvis730 you are right, Priscilla was the story of a group of crossdressers and hence 'Dancing Queen' from the movie was adopted by Australia's enormous gay community as a sort of anthem. Plus Kylie is the 'Queen of Queens' in Oz.

"The Queen Of Australia"...believe me Kylie is the closest to being hail as Australia's Queen as anyone.....She's adored by her Native Country and I had the chance to be there for this Performance...Wonderful and extremely friendly people, the Australians.....

@Elvis730 correct me if im wrong but maybe its becoz the song was adopted by the gay community and the Sydney Mardis Gras... not 100% certain
