k the program wasnt a huge commercial. Throughout the workshop we talked about self esteme and how the media changes real people. It was an amazing program. You can chirp all you want about how fake this was, but i was there, believe me this wasnt a commercialized program
I'm the blonde at 0:09 no joke. That's me with one of my best friends Bonnie. It was an amazing expirience and I loved being in the calendar and representing dove :) p.s I was around 8 when this was filmed.
they have to sell shit regardless, they are a business. would you rather they do it at the expense of the majority of the population? i'd rather be flooded with positive messages than ads that consistently tell you you aren't good enough.
@unregalito Well, at least they're promoting healthy self-esteem. Of course they want you to buy their product, it's their job to make you do so. But, since they're gonna do publicities anyway, why not make people take notice of how important self-esteem is? I think Dove is doing an excellent job on that... and I don't even use their products.
@unregalito You're missing the point. Yes, obviously they want you to buy their product, but they are trying to point out serious issues in society at the same time. There are fourth graders in America who are anorexic, coloring their hair & using tanning beds. They are being told by society they have to be perfect. I remember crying to my mother because my eyelashes weren't as long as pretty as the people in the commercials. I told her I'd never have friends because of it. This is unacceptable!
@unregalito Would you kind of people quit looking at the worst in these ads? OBVIOUSLY they have to make money, but that doesn't mean they don't care in the least. They obviously do care somewhat, and it obviously helps girls, so why does their motive matter?
@unregalito Geez!! You complain when because companies demoralize women by telling them they are not beautiful, and you turn around and complain when a company decides to break the trend of destruction and build up women instead of tearing them down. And of course the common factor is economics. DUH!! The whole point of ads is to sell a product. Our economy would grind to halt without companies promoting their products. I am happy that Dove is building up self esteem instead of tearing it down.

no they wouldn't. gosh how shallow are you? you are totally under minding the whole commercial. i wuold take pictures of smiles, family and friends. and im a kid
Let me give you a nugget of proven wisdom, young 'un. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. As you age you will see the truth in this. But if you want to perfect something now why not start off with your spelling? Another nugget of ages old wisdom is that NOBODY is perfect, sorry kid.
wow. only 9 comments, and like 16,000 views? well i think its time for this lucky camper to comment! xD yay. cool. :) dove = awesome for doing this. xD
A powerful and meaningful campaign. Who cares if it sells soap?? The next generation desperately needs this message.

Using self-esteem to sell a product is lousy!!
One company makes you believe you are not beautiful enough, so you have to buy their products.
The other company makes you believe you are absolutely beautiful enough as you are to buy their products.
What's the common factor? Economics!
Do you think they care about your self-esteem? Dove is owned by a multinational called Unilever and it is definitely not run by Buddhist Monks...

@unregalito That may be so, but this is still helping girls with their self esteem, so it shouldn't matter.
