I think that when it comes to primitive thought you need to look no further than Western so called civilisation, or those leaders of other nations who wish to emulate the stupidity of many of our western leaders. It is a great mistake to see the Indians of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta or other people who have similar deep beliefs as primitive. They are the wise ones, only the foolish see them as primitive. We need to listen to what they have to say, and then act appropriately.
@cchatttss What's your question got to do with anything ? Did you even look at what I pointed to ?
But yes, I have met them, and I also spent a night with them drinking the medicine at Kajuyali Tsamani's maloca. Wonderful people. But their "center"-deslusion ? bwaha.
Believe what you please, but please leave alone now.
One more thing lest another dreamer mistake what I said: I am not saying this present "civilization" will not fall apart for it surely will, the causality with whether or not the Kogi do their rituals is - if anything - inverse to what they suggest. Naturally if the Kogi get destroyed, so will their rituals.
@LooksAeterna 1. It is not important if they are the people who know the truth about this world, but theyr warnings can make people of this world to stop destroying our planet. And making fun of them does not help. I think that our world needs to go back to its roots and respect and protect nature with all costs, even if humanity has to renounce of technology.
@szalard "It is not important if they are the people who know the truth about this world, but theyr warnings can make people of this world to stop destroying our planet."
If they make deluded statements, nobody will listen to them and their warnings are not heard. Secondly, whatever they warn of is pretty obvious without their warning.
"And making fun of them..."
Not of them, but of the modern naivelings from Europe and the US who by their ethnocentric megalomania. That does help, trust me !
The destruction involved in all this is deplorable, as everywhere.
However, as to the Kogi and such being "the elders", please realize that this isn't anything new or special, it is practically what characterizes any form of tribal consciousness. Most of the ancient tribes thought of themselves as the center of humanity and that the (in truth "their") world falls apart without their rituals, this is simply how primitive thought works.
Google "Spiral Dynamics" and "Wilber-Combs Lattice".
@LooksAeterna Interesting perspective that you hold. Looking at your words from another perspective, we must consider that "western "civilization" deems itself to be the center of the "raising up of humanity", and that it is a wonderful and magnificent gift to humanity to our "advanced civilization". And yet, if we look honestly at the impact of our influence it is very destructive both to us and to the Earth upon which we depend for survival. So who is truly "primitive"?
@3Gallagher that's a completely separate discussion which has no bearing on what I said previously here. In my view, ANY culture is likely to be destructive, at least as long as it rests more on peer pressure than intelligence. But I will not discuss this here.
@3Gallagher oh and BTW, the only reason that I think indigineous cultures are not as destructive as ours is because they are powerless.IF you look at this culture of the west it arose from the same indignineous cultures.

Going back to primitivity is no solution.
