I don't have a problem with a child playing video games, so long as they don't have to listen to (or read) mature conversations. Albeit EQ2 has a more mature crowd than what you would find on XBOX Live. (Whose voice chat is...NOTORIOUS.)

With games like EverQuest, you may think its being anti-social, but infact they want to be with their friends online. Also, on the weight gain subject, it depends on the person, I am 5'11" weigh 180 pounds hate going outside, as my skin burns easily and anyone who knows me says I can be the life of a party.

Yeah I can tell you are, considering your spelling. I started playing Everquest when I was 9 (first game, not 2) And I can tell you right now Everquest doesent even come close to WoW. If anything Wow sets the standards for mmos too low in my opinion. But then again I dont consider easy "better" by any means.
